Not that scene and.... anyway Charlotte defused that anyway by saying she didn't sit there and do that and had a life! The scene I was talking about was when Damon got the text from Elena about "making herself at home" and Stefan says well you told her to so she does and then Damon says "the Sire bond is not that literal Stefan". Then Stefan asks him to name one thing which we all named tons of things that Damon asked her to do that he didn't get like when he told her to call Stefan and she flat out refused! Yes that was prior to him witnessing how literal it was and no that was not all she did you're right. But it still isn't literal. She said she had a life. The counting bricks was like a song that reminded her of Damon... of all the good memories after you break up. She didn't count the bricks because he told her to she counted them from time to time because she wanted to think of Damon... The bricks was like listening to that song! Not that she was literally waiting for Damon when she counted the bricks like he told her to when he left!!! Damon was right. The only reason he looked shocked is because she said she counted them then he asked her please tell me you didn't and she said no I'm not crazy then he looked at Stefan like "see told you".

I didn't get that she did it for awhile until it wore off and evolved into something she does to remember him by.... They kinda left that up in the air. And he told her to do it until he came back for her.

count every brick in NO and he would meet her there... Or come to her there. She had to count bricks until he met her so there was time/counting bricks and him meeting her... lol

I just watched it and he told Stefan "I kinda told her to count ever brick in every building in New Orleans and I would meet her on the corner." NOT that she had to count them until I met her there.

All I have to say about this is that JP said it would be a 'tiny' obstacle to Delena so making it into a big deal and the source of all Elena's stronger feelings for Damon is pure imagination because that would be anything but tiny. Her feelings of love are real and go back to her human days.
I think when Damon saved her from burning in the sun at Wickery Bridge is when she realized just how much she felt for him. It didn't happen the minute she turned. She didn't suddenly do everything he told her to do like a robot and she still doesn't so it is NOT literal in that way and it has nothing to do with her magnified feelings of ALL her emotions that comes with anyone turning. The show made that darn clear so we wouldn't misunderstand what was going on.

Everyone keeps mentioning the arguement where Damon tells Elena that she should call Stefan and she doesn't really disagree she just says she cant trust Stefan right now. Damon doesnt say call stefan. And that point should be invalid because moments later Stefan walks in.
Although the Sire bond doesnt affect emotions, I think it does. See with Klaus they are all grateful so even if they didnt like the dude and they disagreed they still did it eventually because it was an order.
With Elena, she had feelings for Damon that were supressed. So when she became a vampire they were magnified but I think the sire bond was what allowed her to unleash her feelings because there was an extra connection with Damon now.
In the end of season 3 she tells Damon no matter what I feel for you I never unfell for Stefan so I pick him, meaning w.e feelings she did have for Damon she didnt believe they were strong enough to give up on Stefan.
Then a few weeks into her being a vampire Stefan doesnt seem to be on the top of her list anymore but Damon is? So I dont know this is a storyline that still needs to be seen through.
In the books Elena s with Damon while she is sired but she eventually goes back to stefan.

Like I said in another thread, the sire bond is not as simple as Elena doing what Damon says. It's more complicated than that. I think that the reason they showed Charlotte is to contrast the difference between the two sire bonds. Charlotte was crazy and obsessed with Damon before she turned; this is how her sire bond manifested. This is why she counted all the bricks in NO.
Elena's relationship with Damon was different. Damon and Elena are best friends (IMO), and Elena trusts Damon completely. She listens to what he says and fights him on what she doesn't agree with. She depended on him when Stefan was gone "I don't know what I would do if you weren't here". This was before she turned.
This has carried over after she turned and I don't think it's necessarily because of the sire bond. Yes, she is sired to Damon but she doesn't always do what he says.

ruby I actually don't think it was ever called anything in the books. It was just some weird freak incident that happened immediately after she was turned and it was quick like it lasted probably about two pages and she was back to her senses then it was never talked about or mentioned again lol

The difference between Klaus sire bond and Damon sire bond is.......... but first let me say that all sire bonds share one thing, they affect actions and not feelings. That said, the type of sire bond that we witnessed with Klaus is the more common type of bond. It can occur between supernatural beings and non supernatural beings Tylers feelings for Klaus was one of dislike, Klaus could force him to do things, but not to like him and that is true of all Sire Bonds.
The type of bond that exists between Damon and Elena, is not your typical Sire Bond this is a rare bond. Remember the episode when Caroline worked out just why Elena was acting weird, she worked it out because of Tylers siring to Klaus. The minute she told Stefan he immediately knew what type of bond it was because he told her that The Vampire to Vampire Sire Bond is rare, a 1 in a million (chance of occuring), moreover, he knew what it meant. So what dobble and other posters were saying that Stefan likes to run away rather then face things, this is a fine example and the witch in New Orleans only confirmed what he already knew.
So it doesn't matter who you ship, everyone who thought that the writers of the show had messed up the coming of the Delena relationship by the introduction of this Sire Bond are actually wrong, the writers have paid the relationship one of the highest compliments they can. Yes, they could have simply have Elena turn, because the results of her feelings would be the same. Like I stated in another Sire Bond debate thread, had Elena's transition into vamparism been a natural one, it still would not have changed the outcome of her feelings in regards to Stefan and Damon. Under compulsion, Rebekah got out of Elena how things really stood with her in regards to both Damon and Stefan. Elena's feelings prior to turning stood like this, she loved Stefan but was no longer in love with him, but she was in love with Damon and it is these state of affairs that carried over when she was turned, and it is these feelings that as a vampire along with other Elena traits that become amplified, it is the vamparism that does this not the bond.
Nonetheless, Elena's strong feelings for Damon created this bond (this is a very important factor that everyone should remember) for without these feelings this rare bond could not have come into existence. That is why it isn't the sire bond that is influencing Elena's feelings, because the sire bond only exists because of her feelings, therefore, it doesn't matter what suggestions Damon may make, it has no bearings on how she actually feels about him.
What the writers have done is simply introduced the angst to spice things up among all the individual charecters invovled. For Damon his angst is that he cannot trust Elena's feelings, Elena's angst is how can she convince Damon and everyone else that her feelings are REAL, because Elena is being confused by everyone stating that it is the sire bond. Stefan is pinning his hopes on the cure because he doesn't want to face up to the fact that Elena's feelings for Damon are now stronger then anything she feels for him. For Elena's friends (their angst), they blame the sire bond even though they all stated at various times throughout the show that Elena had feelings for Damon, now they want to put it all on the sire bond. Both Stefan and Matt used the L word stating that Elena was in love with Damon and that was way before she turned.
Therefore, do not let the shows angst, let you forget how this very special rare sire bond came into being in the first place, without Elena's strong feelings of love for Damon there would be no sire bond. If you remember that you cannot go wrong. The angst will play itself out.........let it.
