That video is a really good one too-- and I love the "wrapped in your arms, I'm home."-- it fits them and their home references perfectly.
One of the reasons that the home references mean so much to me, is the whole Twin Flames thing. As, you can see by my siggy-- I'm a big fan of the books-- and that quote gets me every time.
I have to say that in 1x02, when Elena lights Stefan's candle, it really rubbed me the wrong way. I felt as if the writers were taking that away from Delena.
(We were meant to be this way, like two flames that join and merge into one.)
But then there was the scene in 3x01, with the two candles, both lit, both together-- right before we focus in on Elena in the mirror, with Damon standing a way's behind her, slightly out of focus. (In the scene where he puts the necklace on her.)
That scene truly made me realize that the candle scenes go along with what I've been saying all along. Stefan and Elena are soul mates in the sense that, they were meant to meet, meant to be brought together-- because it brought all three-- Damon, Elena, and Stefan to the next "road" they had to take.
With Stefan, Elena ignited (Elena lighting Stefan's candle is S01x02) Stefan's soul again-- "gave him something to live for"-- and I think in a way that ignited the brother's bond again.
They were brought together and held together because of Elena.
For Damon, it was getting in touch with his humanity.
And being around Elena, and Stefan, and everyone in the town of Mystic Falls did just that, it ignited Damon's humanity. (I came to this town wanting to destroy it, and I found myself wanting to save it.)
For Elena, I think Stefan brought her out of the "shell" she was living in since her parents died. He made it not hurt like it once did. Damon showed her how to have that back again, how to be happy and let go again... and I think, in a way, both brothers have been teaching Elena how to love.
All of this is and has been a necessary part of their journey for them to all grow into who they will each come to be. I've always said that even when Damon had reached his point of redemption, which, in my eyes, he already did long ago-- Elena would still have to grow into a woman that could handle the kind of love Damon has to offer her.
Basically what this all boils down to is that I think each candle scene was very symbolic of their journey, what was the start, and what is now.
I also might add that the candles were close together in 3x01, but the flames not adjoined. Not yet. Because we haven't gotten there yet... The flames as one would symbolize endgame.
(Damon and Elena, burning bright as ever because they've both learned what it is to live and love and they are together.)
So when they are together,(flames adjoined) they are home, so basically their journey is a story of them finding their way home.
I think in a way you could say that is why they always gravitate towards each other-- why they always stand so close together-- closer than any platonic pairing ever should, that's for sure. The force between these two is magnetic, because each flame(soul) is dying to merge and become one. (Home.) [/font]  [/color] |

Gosh I miss Delena...miss miss miss it. This just reminds me. But I'm glad Nian is off in some Winter Wonderland and he looked so happy in the picture on his twitter. I like to think of them being happy. So cool...carry on with the awesome songs.  |
