Not taking a shot at his acting as I know he did his best with what he was handed (and I know he was really looking forward to his character this season making the turn) but I think it's also the material that may have worked against him in a fan voted award. I think if he was given material that more of the fanbase would have enjoyed for his character, he would have had a chance but at the same time, I think within the fanbase, he's got nothing but a uphill/losing battle against Damon/Ian when it comes to this show as sad as that is =\
I've actually been feeling for Paul lately cause he's wanting to do this and that with his character but JP shoots him down and then having his character railed by a good portion of the fanbase for his character's actions (or maybe it's just the part of the board I'm on) while kind of being left in the cold with awards.
In general though, I've been all around down on the show with this past season so 'eh'.

I was pretty happy with how they wrote Stefan this season. I think they did a worse job on Damon in S2 and he still won a TCA. I think it has all to do with hardcore Ian/Damon fans not wanting to support Paul because they hate Stefan... when the award was for acting not most loved character. It is just sad because TVD does not get nominated for much awards shows because of the genre they are in and Paul is spending a good portion of his career and sacrificing movie roles to be on this show and he does not even get much appreciation (in comparison to the other two leads). I hope he can find time in his schedule to do some other things so maybe he can get from underneath the shadow he is in because he is better then being in Ian's shadow.

I think that's a big assumption that Ian/Damon fans wouldn't vote for Paul. I don't hate Paul and most Ian fans I talk to don't hate Paul. He was up against Ian though and I'll vote for Ian in that case. If he weren't, I'd vote for him.
I was looking forward to and was disappointed in the ripper storyline. I wanted it to go further, for him to go darker and that would have really shown alot more of his acting skill if they had let him, to see that stark contrast to the original Stefan character and how he changed. As it was they barely scratched the surface of what the ripper could have been. It's not that I wanted Stefan to go 'bad.' I just like darker characters. That's why I'm a Damon fan to begin with.
I almost always like the villian/not so nice guy in practically every show I watch. They're generally more interesting to watch and have more depth in their character. That's what I was hoping to see in Stefan with the ripper and I don't feel like we saw enough. So I don't blame Paul for that. I think the writers didn't go far enough with him.

I think Paul would agree... I think he seems disappointed with the storyline. I was happy with it because well I like Stefan being happy and dark Stefan didn't seem too happy, but yeah I hope one of these times they do not pit Ian and Paul against each other. That Paul can just go against other show's actors. OR if he does get pit agnaist Ian again maybe JUST maybe he could get support from the whole fandom and WIN his 1st Teen Choice Award

I'd like to see Paul with some control/direction of his storyline. Just from the little I read prior to S3 of him so looking forward to doing the Ripper and I thought the first episode of the season was a nice showcase of what to expect but then it's like they didn't want to keep up with that. I liked that glimpse of Stefan's character being the 'monster' he so feared to become again. What we got from his character the rest of the season was just tame in comparison to that small look and I can't help but think Paul was disappointed himself when he got later scripts and saw what direction his character was going. I think JP kind of restricts his character though because of her own image of the character and any of Paul's input more than likely clashes with said image.
Surprisingly, I do like the idea of the TVD fanbase throwing their weight behind Paul to get him his first TCA.

It's that time again...People's Choice Awards tonight at 9pm Eastern on CBS. We'll see if any TVDers voted enough for some awards.
