Now what I am about to post is a rant but its very well worth the read trust me! It made me come to peace with all these Anti Stefan Fans aka DE Fans who always say Stefan is a Phony or Fake etc etc Hate On Stefan: Rant stelenabeauty: You know what? It seems as though I can never find just one stance to take on all the unnecessary, over-abundance of hate the DE fans want to put on Stefan Salvatore. Because on one hand it just makes me want to bang my head against the wall out of anger, and frustration that they just don’t seem to get it. And another part of me just finds it utterly hysterical. And this isn’t about some legitimate dislike or indifference to his character due to some sort of preference. This is about the hate arguments that are just worth nothing because they quite simply mean nothing. It reeks with desperation. Hating Stefan seems to be the only thing they can think of that enhances their ship. Well my god, I can write a coherent and valid post on why I ship SE without even bringing Damon into it. And Stefan gets hated on for just about everything. From his hair to the way he stands. It’s just ridiculous. but one argument I see a lot is the one that says Stefan is a manipulative phony who tries to hide his true nature. While they glorify Damon for ‘putting it all out there’ As though he’s Mr. truth and honesty. Well what intrigues me about this is the complete dismissal to Stefan’s character. That’s one thing. And it’s deliberate because they don’t try to really understand it so they can gain perspective. I have a hunch that it’s because they don’t want to. Fear says everything. They hide behind empty hate because it’s all they have and I’m sorry to say- that’s not much. But the thing is- Damon isn’t ‘putting it all out there’ either. Stefan is the vampire who fights his inner darkness. Damon is the vampire who fights his inner goodness. I don’t understand why this is a hard concept to understand. And you see!!! You see in the show where these two characters play this out accordingly. They both have their reasons. They’re both hiding these other facets to themselves for different reasons. Damon hides his inner goodness because he doesn’t want to live up to anyone’s expectations. It’s just easier for him that way. The pain in his past and even now lay the ground work for why he hides it. He sees it as weakness, as an easy outlet to feel pain, and guilt. He shuts it away for the easy way out. Stefan hides his inner darkness out of shame. Stefan loathes what he is, and what he’s done. There’s a tremendous conflict for Stefan in that his vampirism creates dark and violent impulses that his humanity just can’t handle which is why he ‘turns it off’ because the idea of wanting to hurt or kill others is painful to him. HE. FEELS. SHAME. The bottom line is that Stefan and Damon aren’t/weren’t always so forthright in what they were truly capable of. Only one hides his capabilities for goodness and ones hides his capabilities for darkness. They aren’t so different in that they want to push away these certain ‘other halves.’ But so many DE fans want to create a division there by saying that at least Damon tries and hides goodness, whereas Stefan hides darkness which is worse. But why? The worst anyone can say is that Stefan should have been more truthful or more accepting of this dark nature. Hell- I’ll take that roll of the dice. But why should he get so much hate for it like it means he’s some terrible person or that he doesn’t deserve Elena or that this makes him pale in comparison to Damon? If Stefan hid these things about himself with ill intentions towards someone or with an evil plan in mind, then yes he’d be manipulative and shady. Only that isn’t the case. Which brings me to my next point. Stefan to Caroline: When I was a human I cared deeply for others, I felt their pain and I felt guilty if I was the one who caused it. And as a vampire- all that got magnified. People can carry on about Stefan like he’s some fake or phony but they’re embarrassing themselves. THERE. IS. NO. CONSPIRACY.When Stefan has his humanity, this is who he is. Emily to Stefan: Because even in death, your heart is pure Stefan. I sense that about you. And that will be your curse. Do any of these people stop and consider why Emily told him it would be a curse? Because his pure heart wouldn’t be able to withstand hurting and killing innocent people. There’s no hidden, or evil agenda behind Stefan’s conflict. This is it. This is the reason for everything. He couldn’t handle all the pain, the guilt and the suffering which is why Stefan turned his humanity off. It’s not about ill intentions towards others. It’s not about manipulation. It’s about Stefan’s struggle with humanity. He’s a man at war with himself. The Ripper was another persona that was born out of letting the darkness consume him. It was really about giving up or giving in to it because the fight was too difficult. He couldn’t be like Damon and ‘revel in it’ or ‘make it fun’ because he couldn’t bring himself to enjoy hurting another person. But turning it off and fully succumbing to the darkness was the only way he could be a vampire and handle it. Stefan: I made a choice Elena and because of that choice a lot of people were hurt. Elena: But you also made a choice to stop—to reject the person the blood made you. You made a choice to be good, Stefan. And THIS- this is what really invalidates the argument. So what if Stefan has a dark side? Choice. HE. MADE. A. CHOICE. TO. BE. GOOD.He chose not to let the Ripper define him. Now tell me counselor, how does this make Stefan manipulative and phony? He chose not to be that person because it wasn’t okay. Because it wasn’t right to hurt others and he chose to fight for his humanity to make it stop. And he’s cursed because the one thing that keeps him from being a monster (his humanity) is the one thing that makes him feel everything that made him want to be one in the first place. But people don’t see this- they don’t understand the profound struggle and why it makes Stefan complex, tragic, and ultimately the hero in a morally questionable setting. That’s the difference between Stefan and Damon. A lot of DE fans want to turn Stefan into the villain of this piece and Damon the good guy when not only is it completely unfounded but it’s also ironic to the Nth degree. It’s about choice, remember? CHOICE. Stefan could have stayed the Ripper with no humanity if he wanted to. He would have had every reason in the world to keep it that way to escape the pain but he made a different choice to be a better man. And so, considering Damon makes a conscious choice not to be good when he can choose otherwise actually makes Damon the weaker of the two. It makes Damon the ‘bad guy’ in this particular scenario and in no way wins him any points for his ‘blunt honesty.’ He’s knowingly making the unsavory decisions that keeps him from staying the good guy for long and it’s those decisions that keep him from getting what he wants most. And that’s Damon’s CHOICE. If Stefan can make that choice, why can’t he? Essentially I have a huge issue with hating the man who makes a choice to be a better person, despite whatever odds are against him, while the man who deliberately chooses to do the wrong thing is celebrated for it and for being honest about it. How can any of the people who root for, or justify this be taken seriously? You can love Damon. You don’t have to like Stefan. But when the answers are right there in front of you- when it’s clear as day that Stefan simply chooses to try and do the right thing while Damon chooses not to and Stefan is the one that’s hated just makes me question these people’s priorities, what they look for in a character, and just their general overall idea of how they perceive and process the information. It’s okay to want things for Damon. It’s okay if Damon is your favorite character but resorting to hating Stefan for invalid reasons to support Damon and his questionable choices is actually just exposing how wrong Damon really is. And instead of finding legit reasons for defending him, you can’t. The only manipulative thing going on here are some of the DE fans and their twisted version of who they want Stefan to be. Stop making it about Stefan. Make it about Damon for once. But I get it. I really do. Because once you make it about Damon- you’ll likely not be happy with what you see. But you’ll be the better for it. Trust me.

People who hate Stefan .... hate me hahaha I adore him. He knows he is not perfect, but he doesn't use that as a fall back. He doesn't say whelp I am a vampire so I should act like one. He tried so hard to be better then what he is. He fails and when I say he fails he REALLY fails, but that doesn't make him stop trying to be better. He doesn't give up and give in. He has standards for himself that he wants to life up to. He values and morals. Even if he doesn't always live up to them he doesn't give them up.
