The thing that I guess bothers me is that when they were together briefly they could have made it known that everything was OK by just holding hands or anything really, but they didn't. At the Upfronts they basically went their seperate ways so that's when I really started to wonder. I didn't believe the rumors, all one hundred of them, but it concerned me that they didn't show any sign of still being together. I mean maybe that's a strategy. There's alot of pressure to being a couple although I doubt the pressure has let up given everyone is looking for signs one way or the other, but they could have crushed the rumors with just a little pda and they didn't. That is why I stated that both would have been informed if a newspaper which the US did, printed that they had spilt, so it could be a deliberate act on their part not to confirm anything and if they showed any public display it would be confirmation. I suspect confirmation will be on their terms and not because they were forced too by either the media or the fans. |

I agree but it's not going to go away until people know one way or the other, I suspect. Considering it's Nian and they didn't want people to know they were really together in the first place, for a long time, I could see them making a decision like that. I think it didn't go well with Ian's last girlfriend from what I read. She got threatened repeatedly, stalked, etc. so I think it comes from a place of wanting to protect what is precious and private and not have it be tainted or ruined by other people. I would not doubt that Nina also gets the same threats. In fact I know she does. It's made her cry on more than one occasion. People are horrid sometimes. So maybe, just maybe, they might even be relieved that people would think they weren't together anymore and are hoping we all leave them alone.

I doubt that will bother either since they have had to put up with these same tabloids questioning if there was a relationship since both kept everything preety low key.... Until they started putting photos of themselves on instragram and twitter and it was clear that they were an item, but that was a long time in coming and I suspect the same is going to happen with the confirmation. We are going to have to wait until they are ready to confirm. And yes I do recall that Nina was upset with the attitude of some of the fans and if the posts of some fans I've read are anything to go by inregards to the news of this rumoured break up. I don't blame them.

LOL, I remember at that age, I had a body like hers and could eat WHATEVER I wanted. So she should enjoy it now, because it doesn't last. Damn, I want some chicken wings or pizza now!!

Of course this is the same recycled rumor we heard last summer so who knows if this is true, but here's the latest. Last year they denied it.:

Ian Somerhalder reportedly wanted to marry his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev, with the pair ultimately splitting because 24-year-old Nina wasn't ready for such a bit commitment.
It was announced earlier thing month that the couple of three years had called time on their romance, with reports claiming that the split was not unexpected. Now a new report claims that it was Nina's reluctance to walk down the aisle that forced the couple to reevaluate their relationship.
It’s been claimed that while Ian, 34, was ready to settle down, his girlfriend didn’t feel comfortable with committing fully. “Ian was starting to talk marriage while Nina’s just getting started on her career,” an insider has told In Touch Weekly magazine.
“Nina still loves him but isn’t ready to make that huge commitment. She’s just too young for Ian.”

Ian apparently felt the pair were ready to redefine their relationship as they’d been together for so long, but Nina just didn't want to be tied down so young: “She felt it was too early to take things to the next level,” another source has told Us Weekly magazine.
It looks like Nina has been enjoying her new single status since the split, with the gorgeous actress tweeting about her fun-packed weekend yesterday.
Over the long Memorial Day weekend in the US, Nina has been having some down time at the beach as well as letting her hair down on nights out with her girlfriends.
Judging by her twitter profile it's been an eventful couple of days with the star posting pics of a fancy dress party and a run in with a Stormtrooper at a club!
The actress also revealed on her WhoSay account, that she was enjoying "a little late night lovin'" following her girls night out on Sunday. She hasn't moved on from Ian that quickly though; Nina was simply loving some attention from a very cute pooch! See the photos here.

I don't want to believe they have split but where there is smoke there is fire. I think it sounds about right that he would want to take the next step and she isn't ready. I don't blame either of them but I can't help but think Nina will some day regret it. For obvious reasons....
And I can't help it but it does taint my happiness over Damon and Elena finally being together. I rather liked knowing they were a RL couple when they would interact in a romantic way. I know they will be very professional about it but I will still know in the back of my mind that now it is just acting and doesn't have feeling behind it, or worse that it is painful for Ian. Sheesh, can an Ian shipper catch a break?
So hope he gets 50 Shades and soon!

The rumour that Ian asked Nina to marry him and she had refused because she thought she was too young, and Damon was less then happy about it....is still an old recycled rumour. It goes back to a tweet when Ian's dad mentioned somthing along the lines of watch this space and everyone was speculating as to what it meant, and not long afterwards it was reported that things were a little frosty between Ian and Nina and that was way before the rumoured spilt in April but of course even then they were together because that was when they visited the sick girl and Nina's parents, the rumour resurfaced again the moment they started their busy shedules. Which is why the die-hard Nian fans do not believe it is true and are waiting until July when the cast comes back to start the shooting of TVD.
So far every romour being printed about the spilt are old.......just stated in a hundred different ways. This break up seems to have come out of nowhere, and seemed to have taken place in a very short time frame, and the only reason why it has not been laid to rest is the fact that both Nina and Ian are away doing movies and other stuff and refuse to confirm or deny which is nothing new for them....

They're not acting like they are together though and no matter what anyone says there's a heck of a lot of reason to think they are playing tit for tat with each other which in my opinion is actually a sign that things are not over entirely or they wouldn't bother with the incessant tweeting of how much fun they are having (mostly on Nina's end, admittedly, as Ian is mostly working). This is definitely NOT a normal tweeting pattern on Nina's part as she hardly ever tweets that much and certainly NOT about every little thing she is doing to have fun without him!
I think that's why people are starting to believe it even though most of us don't want to. No matter what the reasons are, it may be true. I just hope it's just a disagreement and a mutual decision to just do their own thing this summer and they will both miss each other and get over it, forgive and forget and things will go back to the way they were when they have time to be together. Word is that Ian's stuff is still at her place so I don't think any permanent split has happened as of yet.

The are acting like they did when it was rumoured that they were dating, there was no evidence that they were it was only a long time afterwards when photos showed that they were..... Look at the time frame, from April to mid May they were together, the only reason why they are not now is their busy sheduales but since the rumour started they have remained low key. They may be communicating with each other privately....no one knows and until they themselves confirm or deny I'm not willing to speculate.

Just for the record I do consider myself a diehard Nian fan, but I can't help but think something is up. And there really is no way for us to know if it came out of nowhere or not because we don't know what this couple do or don't do on a day to day basis.
All I know is what I know, and that is that they are not doing anything to disspell the rumor of their seperation. Other than the "if I were single" comment has anyone heard anything that even remotely sounds like they are still a couple?
I want to believe they are still together, or if not, they could reconcile. Only time will tell, I guess.

Yup, I don't know what to make out of any of it anymore. We can only hope for the best and if they aren't meant to be together, then that's just the way it is. They did seem to be very much in love before so where there is a will there's a way to make it work. I really hope no matter what that they are in a good place when it comes time for filming TVD again so DE isn't wrecked by it, though.

Not sure if they broke up before or after they filmed the final episode but hopefully it doesn't affect their acting and we still see that spark as we did in the last episode. Many said that because they were dating in RL that it made things more passionate I for one hope that isn't completely true for the sake of the characters. Some Stelena fans seem to think because Ian and Nina broke up that Damon and Elena will be over half way through the season and then Stelena will win out in the end. Sources may say they are still best friends but that can be hard after a three year relationship, especially when one starts seeing other people first. Whatever happens hopefully they can keep Delena real and believable. Only thing worse then Delena not being together is the actors showing they don't want to be in a scene together.
