I know it ended over 10 years ago, but with so many ties to TVD, it only makes sense to me to have at least one thread where all things Buffy can be discussed! So I'll get the ball rolling by saying that I am a DIE HARD BUFFY FAN.
It's been a long time since Buffy Summers and CO. came into/changed my life (literally. My best friend wouldn't even be my friend at all if it weren't for Buffy), and it remains one of my all time favorite tv shows. I was around the same age as the characters, and I bonded with them instantly. One of the things that always amazed me about the show was how REAL all the characters were, and how true to life their emotional reactions to things were. It was strange and magical, actually, that a show that was basically a campy horror movie about vampires, monsters, witches and demons, was actually the most realistic portrayal of human emotion that I had ever seen in a TV series. I kind of worship Joss Whedon lol.
I came at the series in a totally unconventional way though. I watched it backwards lol. Well, not totally. The first episode of Buffy I ever saw was the Musical episode. I had seen previews for it and I was really curious (being a musical lover). I decided to check it out just for fun, even though I had always assumed the show was silly. Yes, I'm sad to say that I was one of the ignorant people who was turned off by the title. You really, REALLY should NEVER judge a book by it's cover. I learned my lesson. The musical episode won me over whole heart and soul, and that was that. I started trying to catch up by finding episodes online, most of which were obviously the most recent ones. I recorded the songs and listened to them constantly. One day I was in the car with 2 girls from my school, one of which was a close friend, and the other was practically an enemy. My "enemy" turned on her car and the soundtrack to "Once More, With Feeling" started playing. After shrieks of excitement from both of us about our new found common ground, I learned that she had the first couple seasons on DVD, and I started watching from the beginning with her. 13 years later, we are still best friends lol.
So, for whomever wants to join me here, what were your favorite episodes/storylines/characters/couples? 7 seasons to talk about, YAY

I was definitely team Spike. Especially by the end. And also because from where I started watching, Angel was already out of the picture. But when I went back and watched from the beginning, I definitely fell for Angel too. I cried hysterically when she had to kill him at the end if S2. That was gut wrenching. So in a weird way I guess I kind if shipped them both. But by the end of the series, I was 100% Spuffy. I'll take Spike over Angel any day of the week, and twice on Sundays :-)

I thought Spike sucked at first though, but then he grew on me...

Well he was a dick at first lol. But he always fascinated me. And he had great lines. Most of my favorite quotes from the show are his. He was sort of a comedy act in the beginning, even when he was the bad guy. But then when he fell in love with Buffy .... ahhh, it was all so very awesome. Except for the near **** in season 6. That was horrendous. That whole season was pretty painful really. The musical was pretty much the only bright spot.

lol yeah, I'm actually not a fan of Angelus. It was a great plot line, as far as drama and angst go. But he was an evil SOB. Completely evil. Not Klaus evil, or Damon S1 evil, or even Spike evil. And I've never been able to enjoy that kind of horrible villain. Especially when it's someone the hero loves. It was devastating. I know I'm in the minority though, everyone loves Angelus.

He was an evil SOB yes. But damn it if he wasn't an awesome arrogant villain. He is exactly what the tvd vampires should be when they turn off their humanity. As having no soul or no humanity should make you evil. I don't like horrible villains I love fun villains and his sheer joy at what he was doing and the mind ****s imo makes him closer to Klaus. I mean come on. He killed Giles's gf placed her in bed with rose petals. That imo is so theatrical it's not as pointless or evil as say Klaus killing Tylers mother. The fact angel has the joy and theatricality makes him great imo lol

Moving on from evil sadistic villains, let's talk about something more pleasant. Did anyone have a favorite season overall? I think mine might be season 7, but I'm not positive. Season 5 was also pretty great, although Dawn was super annoying. Season 6 has my favorite finale in TV history, but the rest of the season is so dark and hard to live through. The musical kicked a** though.

Mine was season 2. We got Spike and Drusilla, Angel turned evil. The ending was both sad and happy. Happy they saved the world, sad Angel was sent to hell. It was just a great season overall.
Favourite episode though is once more with feeling. God I wish TVD would do a musical episode lol
