So we all know Elena makes dumb plans. SE, DE or non shippers we can all agree Elena always walks into the dumbest plans. This was no different. To kill Klaus she is now killing all of the original children. Why was Elena's blood needed so badly? Why was her blood needed to bind Esther's children? Tatia... the original Petrova! Now this is not my theory entirely. I saw this on another site. What if Tatia is Esther's daughter. We know she likes to sleep around. (Klaus) Elena is the only one who is alive so her blood had to bind the children. ALL of her children. Tatia as well. That meaning Elena! So if they die so does Elena. So lets say even if Tatia is not her child it's her blood that binds them. Could Elena die in this plan? Is this why Stefan and Damon couldn't hear the plan? Think about it guys... Damon and Stefan would be happy to rid of the original family! Why wouldn't Esther want them on board? Why would she demand Elena alone? Because the spell will kill Elena as well. My theory now give me yours! Debate!

I still can't fathom why Elena agreed to this plan. As soon as she heard that all the children would die, you could see that she wasn't on board with it but yet she still agreed to the plan anyways. Why? What sense does that make. Elijah has been the closest thing she & the gang have had to a 'friend' in the Originals and she just spits in his face and lies to him. Going ahead with killing Klaus is something more manageable for everyone as he's pissed them all off but killing all of them? "Hey Elijah, I signed into a deal with your Mother to kill you and the rest of the family you love so much. Please don't hate me cause I just want Klaus gone." Esther's plan hinged on Elena agreeing to help out and her blood. Esther could take Elena's blood by force but keeping her from telling the other Originals was going to be harder. If she turned up missing at the rest of the ball, Damon & Stefan would have looked for her and so would have Elijah if Esther showed back up to the party. And if Esther tried to reason it away that she left, Elijah would have started looking into it personally and I'm sure Klaus would want to know where his Golden Goose went too.
I'm still pretty pissed about the episode in that regard. Elena is just...stupid.
I think the deal with Esther is that the less people who know, the better. But Elena, like Caroline & Bonnie, don't keep secrets. She was obviously going to tell Stefan and/or Damon about the plan. I think foremost, she [Esther] was safeguarding against Elijah & the others overhearing since she knew Elijah didn't fully trust the idea that she had forgiven Klaus.

But Esther could have taken blood from Elena without Elena even knowing. I mean Bekah got to Elena easily. Someone got into her house and stabbed Alaric very easily! Vampires are swift. Hell the original witch could have cast any type of spell to get that from Elena. Just knock her out. have some random person knock her out or do a sleep hold and prick her ass!
There has to be more. There has to be more to why she wanted Elena in on it and why the brothers cant know.

She had already put her plan out there. If Elena didn't agree to it, there was the risk of her telling the others unless Esther had a spell ready to go just for that occasion to erase her memory so she could take the blood. Unless part of the spell was needing the doppelganger to 'willingly' want to do the spell. Otherwise, Esther could have simply sent Finn to get the blood but as we've seen, Elijah has sort of been watching over her and since Klaus isn't bound by Stefan's little game anymore, he can bring his Hybrids back into town for extra patrol.
There are just too many variables now with Elena. Damon, Stefan, Elijah, Klaus, Hybrids, etc.. Esther going in 'brute force' would draw too much attention and a failed attempt would just raise Elena's personal guard.
Esther rubbed the wrong way in the span of less than an entire episode so whatever honestly. Wanting to kill her children when the damage is done because she wants to redeem herself in nature/restore some balance is just asinine. That's why I think her spell is more on a grander scale. From her children, all Vampires descend. Mikael is already dead so if she can create a chain reaction through killing her children that links to those they've turned, and those who were turned by those who were turned and so on down to present day, to the newest Vampires, she is essentially looking to conduct an extinction of the entire Vampire population to 'right' her wrong. It's the only reasoning I can come up with as to why she'd kill her children now after mentioning the whole nature/balance thing when the damage is already done.
If true, Elena is a dumbass for walking into the plan without asking more questions and getting all the details. If true, she's signed the death warrants not just for the Original family, but the Salvatores and her best friend Caroline too.

OHHHHH
Ok so after reading your theory what if this.... The original family is the original bloodline. Since the spell works with the whole blood and the blood that created it what if the spell is a reversal of the first spell hence rewinding time as if they never existed. Every creature they ever changed or any creature that was involved erased from the earth!
That means every vampire and the doppelganger and the original witch herself! Maybe even all witches?
Extinction of the supernatural race?

Thats exactly what I had thought and mentioned it in another thread. How this spell can effect alll Vampires and Maybe thats what the Originals will tell Stefan and Damon to have them reason with them besides the fact that Elena is once again in danger....-_-

I was rewatching the episode just now. And Elena didnt even know the whole PLAN BEFORE SHE GAVE UP HER BLOOD. smh All Esther told her was she needs to do a ritual for her family and elena literally just gave in without question. -_-

Elena obviously needs her power to make any decisions on her own taken away. Stefan indulges her but you have to see why Damon is trying to force decisions on her without or with very little of her own input: she walks into trouble cause of her decision making. We saw this earlier in the season when she was looking for Stefan. Going into the mountains to find Stefan who was with Klaus and was also an area for Werewolves, on a day that the full moon was going to be out? The girl is dim. She's the Bill Dauterive of MF/the Gang who needs a Hank Hill to make the 'right' decisions for her.

I'm guessing it would take out the 'Vampire' part of the show but I'm surprised they don't use the idea of trying to 'depower' Vampires like they did Damon in the books. Esther casting a spell that would turn her family back human, so she wouldn't have to kill them. Or at the very least, take away their immortality and make them actually killable.
Why doesn't she just pull a 'Klaus' and crate everyone again? She can cast the very same spell that was cast on her to put Klaus down since the daggers don't work on him. She's out to kill all Vampires.
Anyone think that with her introducing Vampires, that nature itself kind of 'balanced' itself to compensate for them and now they're part of the natural 'eco-system' after a millennium+ of existence? That by her killing off Vampires, she's once again screwing with the 'balance'?

Yea they are so many ways to put down Klaus because they can even do what they did to Michael. I think the whole de vampire part would be cool. But something always happens. I guess she wants to kill them to show the spirits she's trying to fix things. She's trying to fix her mess once again. It wasn't even Klaus fault he was the way he was. With her turning her back and cheating on her hubby and cursing him he has become the way he is.
