WET PAINT SPOILERS 16 HOURS AGO
After a painful mid-season hiatus, The Vampire Diaries hits our small screens again on Thursday, January 5, with Season 3, Episode 10, “The New Deal.” Thanks to the lucky folks at KSite TV, which got a first look at TVD’s return episode, we’ve been gifted with 10 teasers about the episode to sink our teeth into before it airs. Apparently there’s lots in store, from ample Bonnie screen time to new characters, but perhaps the most titillating reveal on KSite’s list was this: “Shippers will be very happy.”
Which shippers, you ask? We don’t have specifics, but KSite teased at least three shipper groups will come away from the episode happy as a hybrid on a blood binge. Three! And it sounds like there might even be some steamy skin-on-skin action, as the site says “some shippers might want to get their screen-capturing software handy.”
Then again, the screen capture could be used to document that buzzed about “gut-wrenching” Stelena moment Nina Dobrev teased, but let’s keep things positive here, shall we?

MORE SPOILERS When The Vampire Diaries returns on Thursday, Jan. 5 at 8/7c on The CW, Elena may finally be ready to say goodbye to Stefan and welcome in Damon's love.
"[Elena and Damon] are trying very hard to understand that the Stefan that they know is gone forever and that he betrayed them," executive producer Julie Plec tells TVGuide.com. "Elena understands ... that ultimately it's time for her to move on with her life and not hold onto a ghost of her past."
When the CW series left off, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) believed their plan to defeat Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was foiled because Stefan (Paul Wesley) stepped in and saved him. What they didn't know was that Stefan did so to avoid Klaus' minions from then going after Damon. "One of the big things in the episode back, however, is when Stefan reappears in their lives," Plec says. "At what point do they start to understand the part he played in saving Damon's life and then what does that mean to each of them?"
Which Vampire Diaries Original is coming back with a vengeance?
Although Stefan may eventually explain himself to his former love, he has one person on his mind, and it's not Elena. "Stefan is definitely acting from a place of aggressive and not completely rational spite [towards Klaus]," Plec says. "That is going to be a big issue for Elena [and she'll say], 'You could've handled this differently, you can be different, you could feel differently and is winning this war more important than the people you have to hurt along the way?' Right now revenge is definitely his priority." Meanwhile, Klaus will be quite the opponent. "We're going to continue to explore his vulnerabilities while also making him madder and madder and more violent and more evil," Plec says.
With Stefan off focusing on Klaus, Damon and Elena will continue to lean on each other — although Damon, Plec adds, will be back to "acting out, day-drinking, pouting and being generally curmudgeonly." But the romantic tension will build and Elena will have a hard time denying it. "Now that Stefan is out of the picture, in her mind there's a way to free herself up and allow that tension to come out and play," Plec says. "The question of 'Does Elena love Damon [and] has she been fully falling for him all along?' is going to be very much a part of the season."
But life in Mystic Falls is never without complication and Elena will have quite a few things on her plate. First, there's the fact that she killed Rebekah, and when the Original sister gets undaggered she'll be pissed off, to say the least. Elena will also start to see how she's just as capable of destruction as her vampire peers. "Elena realizes that in order to survive and in order to protect the people she loves the most, sometimes she has to behave more like Katherine than Elena, and sometimes a dark choice needs to be made, a violent act needs to be enacted and it's troubling for her," Plec says. "So who is she really at her core? She's clearly not the girl-next-door do-gooder, she never has been."

SOURCE: www.tvguide.com/News/Vampire-Diaries-Preview-1041152.aspxFrom a Delena standpoint, I find all of these quotes interesting and exciting. Bad girl Elena? It's about time! Plus the rest are mainly Delena hints and she'll finally lay into Stefan for what he's done/is doing that is hurting her and the people she loves. For once it's not Damon who's gonna feel her wrath. You go girl! Unless the 'taking the coffins' thing has some meaning we don't know yet, it really just wasn't such a good idea. I'm not sure why they want to regress Damon yet again...sigh...go figure. When they run out of ideas they just rehash the same stuff over again. But I think it's different now in that Elena has accepted him now and isn't being judgmental with him so it shouldn't affect too much. I guess the writers want to show that Damon truly loves his brother as some people have been questioning that of late. It certainly will make her want to 'help' Damon deal with it which can never hurt. Again, this is all from a Delena standpoint. It looks fairly positive and it could even be better than this, but at the least, it seems fairly good from the looks of it. I've said that before and been wrong. HA! But when I look over the last several episodes there's only been forward progression for Delena where it had been sort of a back and forth thing, so that gives me hope that the trend forward will continue. I don't say this to tick any other ships off, but I'm a Delena so...that's how I see it.

Okay, vamp fans! Here's the deal: Yes, we've watched "The New Deal" -- Thursday's mid-season premiere of "The Vampire Diaries." And yes, The CW has us on lockdown with some very specific details we're not allowed to reveal to you. Juicy ones.
But don't worry; we won't leave you hanging completely. Here are five things you can look forward to (and/or dread) in Thursday's episode.
1. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has a domestic side. We're almost nervous to admit it, but our big bad wolf has become one of the most complex characters on television right now. The way that his vulnerability and villainy tangle up together is fascinating to watch. With his father out of the picture, Klaus has big plans to reunite his remaining family members -- complete with a dream house in the town where they last loved each other as humans. It's poetic, really.
2. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) spirals out of control. We're talking old school Jeremy, minus the nail polish. He's flunking out of school, he got fired from his job... and things go from bad to worse when he starts hanging out with Tyler (Michael Trevino) again. Elena (Nina Dobrev) tries to intervene, but when she sees Jeremy in a gruesome confrontation with a hybrid, it becomes pretty clear that he's on the verge of losing any chance at happiness.
3. The romantic tension between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena gets even more epic. The connection between them now runs deeper than the whole lusty, let's-stand-a-little-too-close-together-and-stare-at-each-other's-mouths thing that they've been doing for the last two years. While their loyalty to Stefan (Paul Wesley) may be threadbare at this point, it is there -- particularly once Damon learns that Stefan only saved Klaus to spare Damon. Delena has a dilemma, y'all! Before the hour is over, one of them is going to make a major decision that has to do with their relationship and their relationship with Stefan.
4. A little clarity. We'll find out much more about siring and what it means to Tyler that Klaus is his sire -- he'll even explain the key differences between compulsion and siring. (Sort of. Let's just say the line is a little blurry.) Tyler's loyalty is tested several times in the episode... and as far as Elena and Alaric (Matt Davis) are concerned, he definitely fails some of the tests. We're not sure this bodes well for his relationship with Caroline (Candice Accola), who isn't in this episode.
5. Say goodbye. One of our favorite characters is saying goodbye to Mystic Falls -- possibly forever, in a scene that totally made us cry, and is making us cry again right now, just writing about it. (We know there are rumors out there that Damon does something unpleasant to force the character out of town -- this isn't the case, Damon fans. Your boy is a true gentleman in this episode.)
After a long break, this episode is well worth the wait. Make sure you're in front of your TV on January 5 at 8:00 p.m. EST -- and West Coasters, you stay off Twitter! Just trust us that you won't want to be spoiled for this one.

ACK! This only makes it worse... How are these people so good at telling us nothing and making it seem like it's something?
