I love Damon & Alaric...^^^ this picture is amazingly yummy wowww...they're one of my favourite pairs on the whole show! I bawled my eyes out when Alaric was dieing because he wasn't going to complete the transition & Damon went and sat with him and gave him some bourbon... Then I cried again when Damon was sat at Alaric's grave and says "You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is a hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit, because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big." Even though Alaric knows Damon can't see him, Alaric's ghost replies "I miss you too buddy."
They had a rocky start to their friendship and became the most unlikely BFF's but it is what it is and they both played the part so well when they fought and fell out I hated it so much but I understood why Ric had to fall out with Damon. I also love the way that they made back up again because they couldn't bear to not be friends in the end I guess. It was Damon who had to say sorry & that shows a bit about Damon really, he had to swallow his pride and admit to himself he cared about Ric enough to apologise for his actions. I think this meant a lot because Damon doesn't usually apologise for what he does, he embraces his actions and quite rarely is sorry for doing the wrong thing! He may say he's sorry for things to others but I think it's usually a bit tongue in cheek and not meant or taken seriously, however when he apologised to Ric I know he meant it because he cares about him a lot!
...if there was any character I wanted to come back from the dead it was Ric! I loved his relationship with Jenna, I loved the way he took Elena and Jeremy under his wing (so to speak) and I love the way everyone was trying their best to keep him from being evil alter-ego Alaric! I think that he had a lot of respect from everyone and he was the one who stopped Elena and Jeremy from completely falling apart when Jenna died...he also went along with all of Damon's mad ideas but kept him sort of "sane" as well...it's amazing what having a BFF in your life can do for you! It's nice to have someone who has completely got your back which is why when Damon and Ric fell out it was so heart breaking...it was sad because Damon trusted Ric and the feeling was mutual I think which is why Ric was so mad that Damon killed him (twice!)...as well as being Team Damon & Team Delena I am more than fully on Team Dalaric/Team Badass

I know. I miss Ric! I think Damon learned a valuable lesson from him when he wouldn't forgive him very quickly and that was that he could lose something he valued, his friendship with Ric, by being impulsive and expecting everyone to just accept that and forgive him. I think it hurt Ric because he had put his trust in Damon. So, I think he helped Damon understand a little bit more that his actions would have consequences he wouldn't like.

Absolutely :0) Ric is one of my favourite characters! & as I'm watching from the beginning again I get to cry my eyes out over those beautiful scenes between Ric & Damon :0( true friendship means a lot & I think it scared Damon when Ric wouldn't forgive him instantly. Using the "it's what I do/who I am" speech wouldn't work with Ric & Damon knew it!!!

No, it didn't work and I think Damon realized he had hurt their friendship by doing that so he had to try to fix it and I'm glad Ric made him have to do that and didn't let him just get away with it.
