So TVD had yet to create a character I truly just hate and find no redeeming qualities within until they introduced Klaus. He was hyped up to be this big bad but all he has proven to be thus far is a huge punk.
So far he has not proven to be a great mastermind nor a great threat if left to his own devices. He uses everyone else to do his dirty work and he was too much of of wuss to wake his sister up and let her confront him for killing their mother yet another act of wussery on his part.

He is kind of a big baby...sorta transparent...sorta "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down," without much substance behind it. But he sure is fun.  (Oh no she didn't just use a big bad wolf comparison...yes I did!  ) |

I don't necessarily think that if Klaus' mother killed the original doppelganger, and he was indeed in love with her, it justifies him killing his mother. But really, what in this show, can be justified?
From what we've learned about when vampires are first turned-- in example, Rebekah being unable to control her urges and feeding on people, as we saw in the flashbacks, or Stefan, who fed on his own father and killed him-- they can be unable to control themselves. Not to mention the whole emotion's being heightened factor-- because we saw from Caroline and Vickie that emotions can have you all over the place when you're first turned, and in general as a vampire..
As we know, Klaus' werewolf gene was activated when he turned into a vampire--(which might I remind you, their father brought upon them,) because obviously, he'd killed and fed. His mother felt shameful of what she had done, so what if she killed the woman he loved-- assuming that the original petrova was his first love-- and cursed him to bind his werewolf side, using the original petrova as a sacrifice. Afterwards, I imagine that Klaus was unable to control his rage-- and so, he killed her.
Wouldn't that echo Rebekah's words about what the heightened part of her brother's personality was?
"Nik...has no tolerance for those who disappoint him."
Also, something else that I want to point out about their mother-- she might not have been exactly pure of heart...
Earlier in the season, I think it's pretty obvious that Anna was referring to HER as the darkness when she was talking to Jeremy..
And Bonnie's grams warned her about the witch-- telling her that the "old witch on the other side had taken advantage of her"-- and "that's original vampire business, I don't want you getting mixed up in that."
So, my thoughts are that Klaus' mother isn't exactly an angel.
And I also think Mikael was a douche too... he was a douche before he was turned AND after...
I mean, like Rebekah said, when it comes down to it, none of them were killers before Mikael made sure they were turned into vampires-- and THAT is what truly led to Klaus' mother's death, and ultimately, all the death and destruction that Klaus has brought upon Mystic Falls.
So I guess I don't really blame Klaus for framing his father for the murder. I understand he needs to own up to it- and everyone keeps saying how terrible/cowardly he is because he can't-- and I guess in a way it's absolutely true, but on the other hand, I also think that it shows his humanity, it shows how much he cares about his family-- that he did want to keep them from ever finding out what he did.
This story with Klaus, it's just all really sad and tragic and I think that I can't help but feel sorry for him at times-- and hate him at times. Personally, I don't think he'll ever really be totally redeemable for me, just because he represents so much pain that has been brought upon our babies...
I can't imagine his story line with Caroline lasting and him staying in MF-- not after all he's done..
Still, I'm very intrigued by the Klaroline story line and intend to enjoy it while it lasts.

Should complicate things if Caroline falls for him. You have Bonnie mad at Elena for getting rid of Jeremy/taking away his choice and then you're about to have Caroline possibly siding/falling for Klaus. Caroline might just want to get away from all the 'sired' crap that Tyler is going through too.
Klaus is just going to turn everyone to his side if Stefan doesn't give his family back. He seems to have already done so with the Council and now Liz. Now he's working on friends. Tyler is under his thumb, he's working on Caroline and given his history with Witches, I wonder when he'll tempt Bonnie with something. "I don't want trouble, I just want my family back." That seems to be his current Go-To line.

I don't think his mom is an angel. I probably wouldn't like her if she was. I love a great villain and a great vero. I just don't think Klaus is either. I don't feel sorry for him because I think he killed his mother not in a state of great emotional turmoil but while he was having a temper tantrum for not getting his way and then he has spent the past several hundred years lying about it. i wouldn't have as big an issue with him if he was not such a huge coward but he is and he proves it every episode. So I am totally opposed to a union between him and the lovely, brave, loyal, strong Caroline because she can do so much better. Slash, How are you? It's been so long. Klaus wanting his family back is so laughable to me. Now that he has killed their father and put Rebekah down again he plans to reunite with the siblings that he put down for the big sleep because they took away his toy, didn't want to play his games, or took his favorite toy away. I hope he frees them all and then they kill him. He is the worst brother, son friend ever. Because with him you don't need enemies. Should complicate things if Caroline falls for him.
