Not exactly a 'TV Show' but since we don't have a place to discuss movies, I'm just gonna drop this here. Just got back from the movies and really enjoyed it. Anyone else see it or am I the only fan here? Probably going to type up a summary of sorts later tonight/tomorrow but just wanted to see who else is a fan. VVV Spoilers below VVVI have to say Selene was pretty brutal in the movie when it came to the hand to hand fighting I liked the other Vampire they introduced as well who seems adept in hand-to-hand (using 2 tonfa-like blade weapons and even using a Silver Whip; he actually dies after the Lycan raid on their Coven for the daughter but Selene cuts a whole near his heart, slices her hand open and reaches into his chest to grab his heart and bring him back to life) and the cop that was introduced and helped out (he was married to a Vampire who was a nurse and when the humans started doing door-to-door searches, she burned herself in the sun in front of him ).
Michael is seen in like 2 scenes but he's there. The ending sees him free and I guess when the next one comes out, Selene, her daughter and whatever Vampires they can rally behind them will search him out cause the Lycans will want him too. The medical research group in the movie, 'Antigen', was actually a front for Lycans to try and use the Hybrids to find a 'vaccine' to their weakness to Silver and to increase their ability to heal (and their size). I'm not surprised much cause Lucian was doing the 'genetics' stuff too but he was looking for a way to become a Hybrid to fight Viktor.
Although I walked away thoroughly enjoying the movie, I kind of expected early on (when I had first seen the trailer) that since humans had started a war with both species and wanted to exterminate them, both sides or atleast a Coven & Den would fight alongside each other to keep the humans off their backs. But I guess with 2 Hybrids and a Pure/Super Vampire, it's not really needed for the teaming up. I'm sure the idea could still be used but I just don't like the way the Lycans were presented here in this movie compared to 1-3 but I guess with the times (humans now included), they've had to change cause they really were on the brink of extinction.
Also, the guy playing the 'Super Lycan' in Awakening plays 'Dyson' in Lost Girl. 2 roles as Werewolves.

Edited the OP with 'Yellow' for the spoiler-ish stuff so it's a bit harder to read (didn't see the color 'White' on the list). Anywho, I really wish this would/would have happened though with the series: While on the red carpet for Sony Screen Gems' Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, we caught up with UNDERWORLD creator Len Wiseman who reveals that the franchise might not be done yet. "There's a lot of talk about a television series, Im looking into that," he tells B-D exclusively, "if I could be very involved and can be a certain way, I'd be very interested in that." He continues, "We had always hoped to do a trilogy, now that we completed that trilogy it's kind of open, if people can join us and go back in time - and then leap forward, I'd like to go jump all across the time line." There you have it, a possible UNDERWORLD TV series in the works that could take us all across the timeline of Death Dealers vs Lycans.B-D

Thanks for posting lthis I love this series. Selene is so bad ass Yeah, probably my favorite Werewolf/Vampire series. Wish there was more media for it though. Maybe a collection of novels that dealt with the expanded universe/supporting characters and expanded their backstory some more (like the early days of Markus and William or Lucian during the early years of the war or Selene in her early days as a Death Dealer, etc.).

I absolutely love the first Underworld movie. I can't remember if it was the 2nd or 3rd one that was super gory. But I am pretty sure it was the 2nd. Like blood spewing everywhere Is the latest installment gory like 1 or 2? I really want to see it but if it is too bloody (I'm talking abnormally large amounts of blood gushing out within seconds) then I will just wait to rent it.

You're probably talking about Evolution, due in part to Markus who was going around impaling people and such. Awakening does get 'gory', more so than Evolution was and most of that is at Selene's own hands (and one of the big fights). I wouldn't say it's a blood thing but more just breaking/cutting

I don't doubt that there is another one on the way given the ending but I don't want to wait That's why I want expanded media (or that damn TV show, which would probably work post-Awakening but I'm not sure if they'd commit that cast to a series =\). And by 'wait', I mean the releases. Looking at Wiki for release dates: Underworld - 2003 Underworld Evolution - 2006 Underworld: Rise of the Lycans - 2009 Underworld Awakening - 2012 3 year gaps so unless they filmed the next one back-to-back with Awakening or plan to move forward sooner...2015

I finally got to see this last night. I thought it was awesome! The whole movie was so action packed right from beginning to end. Spoilery: >>>> I really liked the new vamp guy with the whip and blades. It didn't hurt that he wasn't hard to look at either. I thought he was dead, but nope! She fixed him right up, and of course Selene, love her as always. It seems like they brought back some of the best stuff with her fighting abilities in this one and that made it great to me.
The werewolves had a few more special effects that made them seem more realistic, too, which was cool. I really enjoyed it, but I agree, I'd like to see more in depth media on this world and how it works. I'm always a little bit confused by exactly what is going on and why. In the beginning I also thought it was going to be more of a humans vs vamps/lycans set up and it seemed like that sort of got dropped in favor of the story of her daughter/super lycans, but that was good, too. They could go back and explore those 12 years in another movie/tv show if they wanted to. <<<<

That's why I want more media to flesh it out more cause obviously, they've put a lot of thought into the world/origins/mythos.
I liked the new 'good' guys that were introduced. The Detective, Eve and David I want see more of. Was pretty cool to see David using the Whip. Wondering if he's gotten any extra perks from being brought back by Selene (since she's special).
I also thought initially when I had first head the premise of them being found out by humans, that there would be some sort of uneasy alliance going on with Vampires & Lycans but it turned out that Lycans were kind of running things after the purges. I'd like to still see a Vampire/Lycan alliance of sorts in the future, even if it's just a small band of Lycans helping out Selene and Co.. Maybe a group of them find Michael and take him in and keep him hidden & once Selene finds him, they all join up. I don't mind the story of her daughter but the Super Lycan thing I'm kind of 'eh' to. Lucian had experimented around and this seems to be an extension of that on a more 'radical' level. Lucian was simply looking for a direct descendant of Alexander so he could use the blood to turn himself into a Hybrid (Viktor killed Sonja because she was giving birth to a child made by a Vampire & Lycan so it seemed like the ultimate FU to Viktor to become what he thought was an abomination and killed his own daughter for) but the whole 'more than twice the size of a standard Lycan w/ an immunity to Silver' is eh.
There is a lot of stuff/history to cover. The 12 years since the Purge can follow the Detective (his wife was a Vampire), David (going into hiding/escaping the Purges) and Eve (captivity). Maybe even throw in a Lycan since David's father mentioned Lycans tried to rise up again and were slaughtered (maybe someone new or even the guy who was the Super Lycan being there and surviving it). There is some time before that to follow Selene & Michael just after the 2nd movie (so during the Purges but before Awakening).
Also have the gap in history just before the first movie but just after the 3rd when the war had just started. We've never really got to see Amelia rule or for that matter, her or Markus' take on the war. The Elders leap frog their rules (Markus > Viktor > Amelia) so it would be interesting to see Viktor just having ignited a war and dropping it in Amelia's lap when she wakes up. Before the 1st movie, Lucian was thought dead for some 600 years so there is also that time frame to explain what he was doing for so long.

Thought I'd bump this with this bit of news: Having enjoyed their biggest success yet with Underworld: Awakening, Sony seems eager to get the ball rolling on Underworld 5. Though nothing official has been announced yet, the studio quietly snapped up the domain name UnderworldBattle.com earlier this week, suggesting that Underworld: Battle could be the title of the new film. (That is, if it’s not some other franchise-related product like a video game.) This wouldn’t be the first time that domain registration has offered early clues regarding a mysterious upcoming project. As of right now, UnderworldBattle.com simply redirects visitors to a Blu-ray/DVD page for Underworld: Awakening, but whatever Underworld: Battle ends up being, we expect that’ll change soon enough.
