I thought I'd throw an interesting tidbit out there about Ian.  I think alot of Ian's philosophy about nature comes from his Native American roots.  He is 1/4 Native American on his mother's side.  He was very close to his maternal grandmother who was 100% Choctaw.  Source: ethnicelebs.com/ian-somerhalder  I'm part Native, too, and immediately related his life philosophy to that.  This is an example of what Native Americans believe:

Earth is a living being to be respected as the mother. The mother who gives life, the mother who rejuvenates, the mother that disciplines its children by its unpredictable weather. We come from the earth, from she who fed us in the same way we are fed as babies at our mothers' breast.

Traditionally, Native Americans related to the natural world philosophically; that is, our philosophy is about relationships between person and nature. Verney states, "if non-Natives can understand our traditional spiritual relationship with the land and its connection within the universe, that all things have life, then one can better understand our people, our culture, and our traditional beliefs".

He does! He needs to take some "me" time...but I bet he gets bored when he does...

He does OK when he takes a break and goes on vacation but he never wants to say, "No," to doing appearances and disappoint us (his fans) so he always overbooks himself and he's the first to admit it.  It always freaks me out though when he looks like he's about to collapse and he looks like that too often.
