I don't think I've seen this discussed anywhere yet but what's that magically locked coffin?
My theory is that it is the Original Witch. I don't know how Klaus has lugged her around for so long. But I don't know who else it could be.

That is a very good guess. At first I thought it was his mother and he somehow wants to revive her but I guess that would be too far out. She is dead dead. If it is the original witch, I wonder what he wants with her? Maybe they made some kind of deal.
I thought it would be terribly romantic if it was his first true love and he wants to revive her by forcing some witches to find a way. That's why he needed to become a hybrid so he could bully some witches.

I've also seen the Mother theory thrown around but how would she be communicating from the beyond? Maybe a sort of semi-dead state like the Originals where she's actually on the other side but physically, she's still alive and the coffin keeps her in such a state? The dead Witches have been pointing Bonnie to it being the answer to defeating Klaus (or being able to help in doing so) so it's kind of anyone's guess. We don't even know if Klaus is the one who has it sealed. willlddcat: Klaus has raised Witches so I don't think he cares for bullying them when he can kidnap a few and raise them as his own to do his bidding (Maddox & Gretta). |

Could be why they neglected to go into details about Klaus' curse when they did the flashback/origin. They'll reveal it and then give us story time with Klaus for an episode like we've gotten with Elijah & Bekah already. Klaus' mom used her (the Original Doppelganger) for the curse and maybe Klaus went to the other Witch and had her cast a spell to keep the Doppelganger alive and he hid her away in the caves till he could come back and get her (and killed his mom for what she did). That's if she was a love of his and he's keeping her alive till he can secure a means to her revival but then the question is: why not turn her to do so? It'd be weird though. Elijah had a sort of attachment to Katherine when she was human but Klaus was ready to throw her life away. If Klaus has the Original in tow, that would explain his willingness to throw Katherine away at the time instead of developing something with her (the sooner he became a Hybrid and got his plans underway, the sooner he could revive his Original) whereas Elijah was willing to. If it's 'history repeating' and the Original chose Klaus over Elijah, Elijah probably thought Katherine was his chance with one, hence his interest in her and helping her escape (and why he's got a different disposition to Katherine now since she's run from him too). I'm guessing with the Original, they can reseal his Curse and bring his power back to manageable means to be killed like before. During his resealing, he may be in that weakened state again and they could finish him off for good. So maybe he does love her or now he solely sees her as a means to his death and keeps her close by and sealed away. Maybe he plans to build up a Hybrid army for a Witch Crusade since Witches would need a lot of magic to down a Hybrid so he's assuring himself if he throws enough bodies at them, they won't stop an onslaught and then force enough powerful Witches into un-linking the Original Doppelganger from his demise or even just to cut a few tiers off of the Witch power structure so there are none that would be able to seal his power again like his Mother once did. If I sleep on this, I could flesh it out more probably but it's getting into the realm of ass-hattery  |

I really like the whole idea of it being his true love. But whatever that is in that coffin is a way to killl klaus, so why would it be his true love. ;/ I was thinking its Momma original. Maybe Mamma Original did a spell on herself or Ayana did it to somehow be revived from the dead through her necklace but now she cant because Klaus has her trapped in the coffin and he got it magically spelled so no one can open it or another witch shut it so klaus would not be able to destroy it so he ended up stealing it to avoid anyone trying to wake her
