Anyone else feel lately like these characters have been off/somewhat annoying this season? I know some people mentioned Elena seemed entirely out of character the past episode. Her jumping into Esther's plan, pushing Damon away the way she did and so forth. Having grilled Damon for snapping both Jeremy & Alaric's necks, I find it completely unbelievable that she'd be the one to pitch the plan to Stefan to snap Damon's neck. It almost seems like a cruel joke on her part.
Caroline, who I loved in S2, I just haven't really been feeling in S3. She seems to be Ms. Judgy now, without knowing any facts. I hated her last episode when she said she hopes Elena goes to the ball with a Salvatore and hoped he was named 'Stefan'. Does she hate Damon that much to overlook what Stefan has been up to lately (and the reason Tyler bit her) to just throw Damon under the bus or does she really just not know what the guy has been up to? The guy was the only one who came to rescue you from Klaus during the sacrifice and even took a bite for you from Tyler that had him on his death bed.
And Bonnie can't seem to keep her mouth shut. She's spilling the beans on everyone these past few episodes. Stefan tells Bonnie not to bring Elena in on what he's doing. Damon honors this but Bonnie goes and drags her in. She tells Caroline about Elena's kiss with Damon. She was [rightfully] tempted to even slip up and tell Jeremy what was going on.
Some of the characters seem a bit 'off' here and there though. I thought Jeremy was off with the whole Ghost/Anna thing. Jeremy doesn't come off as the kind of character that I'd expect to try and juggle/hide 2 girlfriends, having picked up where one of those relationships left off without breaking off the current one. I'd think he'd be a bit more straightforward with Bonnie and ask for some time apart atleast or some time to get his head around what was going on. Instead, he's hiding behind her back, sneaking kisses with Anna and was going to keep it a secret (and kept lying that she wasn't there) if he hadn't been caught.
And Damon really didn't chew out Elena for suggesting to snap his neck? Really?

I feel like it's these new writers.... Is it me or has Julie and Kevin written less episodes this season?
Care is miss judgmental! And this is nothing about DE vs SE so please don't take it that way but I think she forgot what happened with Tyler and why he bit her when suggesting Elena NOT take Damon. And then to bring up the kiss and not even be like SEE I knew this was gonna happen was weird. She was the one telling Elena it was ok to feel and it meant she was human to knowing she kissed him and telling her she better take Stefan. And does Care even know what happened on the Bridge?
Bonnie has a big mouth because it's the sloppy writers way of involving her somehow in an episode without really having her there. if we mention Bonnie then the fans wont kill us. If we don't make her friends forget about her it's ok not to invite her to the ball. It's so sloppy!
I felt Elena was way off! Not in regards to Stefan but I felt the porch scene was realistic but very much too soon. The two haven't resolved all the bad air that has been suffocating them and she was trying to kiss him in a desperate plea to make him feel. I think it was WAY too soon. Maybe some episodes down the line where his remorse shone through and not a hint of something. I think it was out of character for Elena then to do that but not later after Stefan showed her more of himself.
Snapping Damon's neck whether he deserved a snap in the neck or not was wrong. Not because Damon is above getting his neck snapped. Alaric or Jeremy doing it maybe but not Elena and Stefan. Elena the one who was upset that he did it to her bro and Alaric. She judged him for it rightly so yet made him work his way back into her life, rightly so and then she does the one thing that was the "one things they had to overcome" to get past him. It was like some sick joke. I was like really Elena?
And then when she blurted out that his love was the problem and I just was baffled. First he doesn't feel and now he feels too much? Season 1 and 2 was about him feeling and now he does it's like it's the problem... But remember when Stefan attacked her at the school she cried to Damon "where were you"? But he can only be there when she needs. He can only protect her when she wants? He can only love her when she permits?
It's so off of who Elena is that i know these new writers don't know what the hell they are doing!

3 besties....what threw me off was when caroline said you didnt even tell me and i found out from someone else. that someone else is their other best friend so i dont see how thats an issue and plus Elena didnt even tell Bonnie damon did. lol

Stefan was hesitant to let Damon in on his plan because he was trying to keep most of the stuff secret and didn't want Elena to know either. Cue Bonnie, the Witch, who he asks if she can open the sealed coffin. Was Bonnie not bound by the same criteria of being brought in as Damon, even though Bonnie is Elena's best friend? She went and brought Elena into the plan/where the coffins were held, something Stefan didn't want. So Damon in his usual manner tells her that he and Elena shared a kiss cause Elena was being her usual self of trying to blow him off. Plus, of course Elena wasn't going to go telling the 2. Bonnie seems to be somewhat eased up both Caroline & Bonnie have gotten on Elena's back about Damon before. They were going to give her that look and tell her he's not right. lmao haha well Bonnie wasn't even judgmental about it. Caroline I understand a little if she is still holding what he's done to her in season 1 on high, but i really believe damon has redeemed himself for that. He freaking went to save her when the wolves kidnapped her, and then he saved her when klaus had her captive for the sacrifice and then saved her again when tyler almost bit her...
SHe could be pissed for when he tried to kill her dad though so who knows lol
If we really see the terms as being realistic, bonnie and caroline don't really know the caring damon. they probably see glimpse of him but they don't know damon on the level elena knows him. They do however have seen stefan in his all high and glory crap and they know elena and stefan have been thru hell for loving each other. they were always trying to save each other. this is the love they have seen so they don't wanna see elena with anyone else i guess.
do i find that right? well no because Damon has changed a lot but yea

Bonnie & Caroline don't seem to want to make any inroads into knowing that Damon. It's kind of save their asses and then back to judging him in relation to Elena. But King Douche/Dick Stefan can do a complete 180 in the personality department and they're still rooting for him. This universe: it makes no sense.
Then again, Damon has a unique way with people. Elena gets a special treatment and even Alaric does. He's kind of a snarky, sarcastic ass to most others. But if Alaric can make that kind of connection with someone he hated and hunted for years, I don't see why Caroline & Bonnie can't either if they just sat down with him for a change.

I just think Bonnie and Caroline have enough of their own issues at hand, to be trying to get Damon. Like you said Damon gives special treatment only to his best friends which are Elena and Alaric. and Even then Alaric is still overprotective of Elena. He wouldn't want to see Elena and Damon together.

Nothing ever came of that 'look' he gave Bonnie when she faked her death and he doesn't spend any time with her onscreen either so I do think she'd be one of the rare ones he'd show some special treatment to. He's Caroline's maker too and he has tried to look out for her in the past as sort of a 'big brother' role (warning her about Tyler and despite her not listening, he was there to save her from the Wolves and was the only one to go to her rescue when Klaus had her).
There really isn't enough time or attention given to his other relationships. It's mainly Elena & Stefan with Alaric getting the scraps.
