Sun & Moon Curse: If it was the brothers?

Damon in the books transformed into a Wolf. We know the show has taken it's own liberties with the characters here and there, mainly Vampires as a whole by 'depowering' them compared to their book counterparts.

Now what if they took the liberty with Damon and made him a Werewolf? Him & Stefan are still brothers mind you but this feeds into the whole idea/theory from before that the 2 might have a different mother. What if Damon's mother was a Werewolf and after finding this out, their father left her and it was a reason why their father treated Damon the way he did?

So despite Damon being something other, Katherine takes a liking to him back in the old days. Damon at this time hasn't triggered his curse so come the night that Katherine is captured, Stefan is killed with Katherine's blood in his system (triggering the Vampire change) and Damon kills someone before he's shot in the attempt to save Katherine with Stefan, triggering his curse and allowing him to heal with his new change from the gunshot.

This messes with the story and maybe the lore some (Werewolves being immortal as well) but would anyone else find it more interesting if the Salvatores were a Vampire-Werewolf brother mix? Damon dealing with his own issues as a Werewolf (the change every full moon, maybe having done like Tyler and controlled the change on his own, living without a pack and maybe being weaker because of it which could play into him protecting the gang because they're like a 'pack/family' to him) and Stefan with his own as a Vampire (the blood cravings, trying not to hurt others and trying to seclude himself from people getting too close, Klaus & maybe other older Vampires coming along that he fell in with during his Ripper phase).

Elena would have 2 near entirely different options with both brothers in what they're going through and both brothers would be more unique in what they could bring to the table in the way of protecting Elena. Each could play to their own strengths and story-wise, have entirely different fields to draw from.

Yes, I'm kind of pulling this idea from Underworld with Marcus & William who were the originals of their respective bloodlines (Vampire & Werewolf) but still had a love to protect/understand one another because they were brothers (twins at that; William was stuck in the Werewolf form so he couldn't exactly talk either).

this would be an awesome fan fiction and it would play into the sun and moon curse title. i think Damon wouldnt be as Damon as he is now if he was a werewolf and it would also mean he is more human lol

Not sure about his impulsive habits but I know he'd be a lot more angry (could probably be easily traded out and not make a difference). And his current 'habits' of overriding Elena's decisions to protect her would fit well with the Werewolf traits. If he thinks/claims her as his own (for protection reasons at first) then it would make sense for him being overly protective in that sense (if he sees her as his 'mate', then he'd have that 'mine' mentality and would give more reason to butt heads with Stefan; kind of his own internal struggle on that front to deal with that nature of his Wolf and trying to keep it in check).

Granted though, I'm kind of thinking outside of TVD when it comes to Wolves so the current mythos of the Wolves would have to be tweaked a bit but with certain aspects changed, they could keep Damon's personality/traits the same. Honestly, when I think about it, Damon's traits do match up more with a Werewolf =\ Even on the matter of 'control', if he could control his change, he could still give pointers to Stefan/Caroline and now Elena on fighting that instinct.

Him being a Werewolf would have also changed up the Mason/Jules/Brady/Tyler dynamic by quite a bit. Damon maybe could have claimed MF as his territory (since the Lockwoods weren't active) despite being a lone Wolf but Mason showing up and Damon finding out about Katherine could have been part of their conflict (jealousy over Katherine and Mason maybe taking offense to Damon maybe claiming MF as his). Jules shows up and they fight and maybe one night while Damon is out running, Jules drops by the house and attacks Rose simply because she was the only one there (this is going with the idea that Wolves can learn to control the change and Jules was simply looking to hurt someone close to Damon cause maybe she can't take him in a head on fight until her pack arrives so Rose, Elena or even Stefan would due since 2 of them are Vampires and she maybe looks down on his association with them).

I think the Tyler aspect would be interesting cause Damon could be uneasy with him at first over his dealings with Mason but maybe kind of shows him some pointers to help him get a hold of things and then Damon and him kind of form a pack bond themselves. When Mason comes back during the Ghost storyline, he still tortures Damon a bit for killing him, but when they have their little heart to heart talk, Mason says he came back to help Tyler but he also thanks Damon for looking out for him.

With Damon going down this path, this pushes Stefan to fill in certain gaps, like saving Caroline's life after the accident and his blood being the one to turn her (and eventually Elena). I guess with all this, they could do more with Stefan on the Vampire front too. He ran with Klaus for a bit and since Damon wouldn't be running with all the old Vampires (or still could with a few of them if they cared to have him since his brother was one and had the Ripper title to back him up or he could have just crossed paths with a few of them in conflict and that would kind of bridge him and Stefan throughout the years they stayed separated), he'd be the foremost knowledgeable one on Vampire stuff for the gang.

I'd have to watch the series again from S1 and take notes to actually write up how Damon being a Werewolf would alter the story. I'm sure if I had the time, I could have enough notes and ideas for someone to actually do an 'Alternate Universe' TVD with the Brothers being of different 'Curses'.
