Currently Testing Beta Version (V5) of Forum

Hi all, today I am working on the new update to this forum through ProBoards who have a new version out which is adding alot of new features to the board. I will have to redo the 'skin' known as a theme on the new board version.

It is currently being converted over and will be at this address in it's naked form but still useable. This is a TEST forum but I would appreciate feedback on colors you might like to see, bugs, etc. You can post there but the posts won't convert over to the final forum when I upgrade it in a few days so keep posting here anything you want to stay.

This is your chance to give some input on what you like/don't like/would like to see on your screen when you come to the site so please take advantage of it.

I'll be adding themes slowly so don't expect the colors to be there right away though I do have one test theme to try out, if it works. Other than that the site should be functional so you can try out the new features.

Give it a few minutes from now to finish converting (can take 45 mins it said) and then have a look at it. Hopefully it won't be a bunch of gobbledegook and not look like a forum when it's converted.

Well, it's taking longer than they said. It is still converting. I'll post when it's done and you can look at it.

Apparently they are having a software issue with the converter right now. This kind of concerns me for when we go to the full conversion because the site will be down and I don't want it down for an unforeseeable amount of time. Ugh! We'll be forced to change over in April anyway. The new version looks nice though.

Beta is online now....it's got some issues thus far but they say they aren't finished with it. Overall it didn't take me long to fix a couple glaring problems with it so it works and still looks good. They are still trying to figure out how to integrate the chat but it does have a shoutbox which you can communicate in with each other.

Please go and test run it. One thing I don't like is there isn't a new topic link that I can see/find and I use that one ALL the time, but it does have a "New' participating in forum thing...still not sure how that works.

Anyway go mess around with it and tell me what you think.

Adding some test themes other people have made. I was thinking of making some that reflect different ships/character types and such for the show, like the brown one could be changed into an 1864 theme and I have one that seems sort of witch like, maybe then some ship themes. There aren't alot of premade themes yet that I can just easily convert by adding logo and background as this forum version is new but they are basically easy and can be dropped right in so that's sort of an exciting improvement.

Check out what I've done so far and the themes and let me know what you think. Still throwing a few more online at the test site.

Hmm so I tried it out a bit and I'm weird so I get this bit of a claustrophobic feel when I scroll throw the website and I was trying to figure what it is then I noticed it's a bit smaller compared to this.

Like how on this forums it's more wide so the 'forums' cover Stefan, Bekah, and Elena who are the ones on the sides of the pictures.

In the updated version you can see Stefan, Bekah, and Elena fully which means the forums have been pushed 'closer' together in a sense.

Then I looked in the threads at the posts and the area is small as well. Like Doppel how your signature where you have all three of those of your DE gifs in a neat row, on the updated version you have two across and then one underneath.

Likewise for my signature instead of them being side by side since these gifs are a bit huge, it's one on the top and one on the bottom. So it makes scrolling a bit longer than the norm if we consider everyone who has gifs/big signatures.

So I didn't intend for this post to be so long since I just wanted to say something that's really simple

But Doppel I wonder if you could make the forums a bit bigger. More like this size or is that the limit for the update version and it can't change?

i like that the avi's are bigger
it looks like it can get easy to adjust to but highly concerned if they dont have the active topics or new topics

Ruby there seems to be a 'new participated' icon at the far right. I think that's what it's changed to now lol

think I found it if you go all the way down on the homepage it says recent post and recent threads..Doppel do you have to re do all the threads? do we loose all the stuff we have written?

Yes, I noticed too, and I can widen the default, plus it's supposed to widen if one big picture pushes it out. It was either that or force a resize for pics which I didn't want, but I can change the size of the text area, I just wasn't sure if it was better that way because we could see more of the background, or not.
