Hi all! 

I just joined the site and wanted to introduce myself!  My name is Misty and I just got into TVD this season.  Even though I've always loved shows and movies about vampires, I hadn't watched this show because I figured it would be too "teen angsty" for me.  But finally after having Netflix recommend it to me so many times and not having anything else to watch, I decided to give it a try.  And after a couple episodes I was hooked!  Like any show it has its ups and downs but is a great show that makes you care about the characters!  I got completely caught up and started watching every week this season.

I'd been reading another forum but the threads always became so nasty and mean, when someone suggested this site I decided to check it out.  It seems great!  You can actually have conversations that remain civil even when people disagree

How you like the show what are your likes and dislikes

I love the show!  I actually care about all the characters...despite their flaws and many times because of those flaws...which is a credit to the writers.

Now, I will admit that they almost lost me right at the beginning when they first showed Stefan because my immediate thought was... "Really?  Did they just try to find a cross between Edward and Angel?" (Huge Buffy fan, lukewarm about Twilight).  But then they had him actually able to be sociable unlike those other broody vampires, which was an interesting change and I ended up really liking the character as we got to know him.

I also knew going into the show that it was based around a love triangle but although I found Damon to be a very interesting character and found Ian gorgeous (I'm a sucker for beautiful eyes), throughout the first many episodes I didn't really see where they could get me rooting for him.  Yet, over time and just like Elena...He snuck up on me and I couldn't shake him! 

The writers definitely have dropped the ball a bit over the last couple seasons and left some plot holes, but it's still a very entertaining show that I am really enjoying!

So make yourself at home and I look forward to reding what you have to say. Thanks for the compliment as well on our 'peacefulness.' We do try hard to keep it that way and that goes for all the shippers here who are really all outstanding and likeable people. We've got a good bunch.

Hi Doppel! Thanks for the welcome! It would be so much fun to join those chats but I'm on Mountain time so I see the new episodes after most other people. Dangit! I'll just have to be content joining the discussions afterward. lol
