Meanwhile, a bored Elena throws a wild party and gets into an ugly fight.

I WAS WONDering if the discovery Klaus' makes is what takes him to New Orleans? In the Spoiers for the Originals…It says Klaus goes because he hears of rumors that people are out for his destruction….hmmm Could Katherine have a role in this? Gathering an army of the supernatural to take down klaus?

Yes, I am thinking Katherine is helping Silas right about now. It was her lackies collecting the blood wasn't it?
