Well, I finally took the plunge and admitted to having TVD as a guilty pleaure. I found the show after finally having gotten over my "tired of vampires" phase, and up until most of season four, I was looking forward to the next episode. I still am, just not quite with the same level of enthusiasm I had in seasons one through three. I'll have to wait until four is over to give my final verdict on it. What initially attracted me to the show was the fact that the plot of it was not solely about a love triangle, and there was a sufficient level of mystery and the unexpected plot twist woven around the characters. While that seems to have sadly dwindled to only two or three major plot points outside the triangle in four, I'm hoping things will improve and our trio will have more to deal with than just the sire bond and Silas soon. My favorite character so far has been Elijah, with Damon a close second and Klaus rounding out the top three. Alaric annoyed me at the beginning but grew on me towards the end. As for the femmes, my favorite so far was Rose, followed by Anna, Bonnie, and then Liz. I find Caroline to be annoying, with Elena rounding out the bottom. Anyway, I look forward to both reading and participating in some of the discussion here. A few posters brought up viewpoints I hadn't considered.

Hi, welcome to the board. I'm a Damon fan first, Delena fan second I would have to say. There are some here that are more Original non-triangle fans. Even to those of us interested in the triangle it is getting tiresome so I hear ya! I want to see some action! I love Elijah and Klaus, too, and they are getting their own spinoff show so we will have two shows to watch next season and more room for more different storylines on TVD so that can only be a good thing, right?

I personally would rather not ship on this show. It wound up being a disaster for me from about season two, as the writers kept killing off characters I liked (Anna, Rose, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the triangle afloat. Anna was the exception, she died so they could further Bonnie's storyline. I like Damon as a character a lot. Somerhalder does a good job of portraying Damon's emotional states, even if he does wiggle his eyebrows almost constantly. The show does a good job of showcasing the good in Damon alongside the bad, and at making sure Damon's not an invincible, insufferable prick in the meantime. He doesn't quite manage to knock Elijah from #1, though- the man is just flat out epic in what he says and does. I like the originals, and will be sorry to see them out of Mystic Falls (unless the plot arc for them isn't removing them from MF completely). They keep Damon and the rest on their toes. More storyline potential is a good thing, provided they stick with what they intend to go with.
