I know it may not have shown in my posts much, but I can't bring myself to really hate a particular character on the show. I see potential in Stefan's character to develop despite that he's done things I disliked, I watched Damon, Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, Bekah, Tyler and a bunch of other characters also do things I have liked and disliked.
The one thing I really can't stand, though, is the fact that the writing in the plots sometimes gets so inconsistent that even the actors can't compensate for the script. Things like the sire bond in Season 4, compulsion inconsistencies, writing that causes a character to forget (without compulsion or other 'assistance') major plot elements or lessons learned, etc. It makes it really difficult for me to empathize with what the characters are going through as it may not have an impact on them at all in the next couple of episodes or seasons.
I can only fanwank so much stuff when it comes to the way they're portrayed as a result, and it has caused no shortage of eyerolls or wondering if the writers went on vacation and forgot to review previous information before moving forward on a script.
In a nutshell... aaaaaargh, the writing on the show drives me nuts sometimes.

The inconsistencies hurt. The Writers need to do a better job of keeping characters consistent and having learned something/think back to a certain situation later in the show's life and remember their consequences. To see characters make the same mistakes or not include individuals they know would make something work 'just because' is nerve racking for me. The characters come off as illogical a lot of times and you really can't blame it on age/being young with a lot of the situations. There are just some outright WTF!? decisions/moments with these characters and that's all due to the writing being the way it is and because it's not consistent, they don't learn from it and live to repeat it.

Ok, some inconsistencies I noticed in 4x11:
When Kol, Jeremy, and Elena are all running around shooting one another- none of them is bleeding much, if at all. Then Elena gets staked through the stomach, and all we see is a little red circle of blood and maybe a tiny bit of bloody flesh.
Then Kol offers to feed Jeremy some vamp blood after he cuts his arms off.
I'm sorry, folks- but either these guys have blood or they don't. They should've pumped out a LOT more than what we could see during those scenes, particularly in Elena's case. They've had no reservations about scenes covered in blood in the past.
Matt just sort of wandered off screen after not being able to find Rebekah's dagger. They could've at least had him text or something.
Also... Rebekah letting Stefan's weak excuses for murdering her brother slide. UGH. There's just a lot that's wrong here after everything they showed us about the character.

One other thing- how is Bonnie drawing on "the power of the new moon" NOT nature based magic? Really, guys, if you're going to make Bonnie draw distinctions, STICK TO THEM!

Moon is probably in the area of 'celestial/heavenly/etc.' and not 'nature'. Nature is probably distinct to the trees, earth, wind, water, fire, etc..
And yeah, how did Bekah have a shower if vervain was put in the supply? Is she outside the city limits/outskirts of town or what?
Kind of wondering how Bonnie's dad contacted her mom. He's had her number all this time, even before Bonnie met her again? Or did he have his 'connections' track her down to talk?

I don't know about that, because Emily Bennett used the power of a comet to seal a tomb. Comets are supposedly made out of planet chunks/star material that got dislodged at some point and are now rotating around whichever galaxy they happen to be in. Given that the planet interacts with the moon due to things like gravitational pulls and that the moon has phases, you'd think something that affects the entire planet would be nature based- sort of like the sun is the bane of vampirism ordinarily, etc. That was all season one stuff though. The weres are tied heavily to the phases of the moon as well. After all, nature can't survive without the sun, the moon affects the tides, etc.
Not exactly sure that the Mikaelson mansion is specifically inside city limits, but the city's water supply probably connects to outside sources for things like waste disposal and pipe management/maintenance. It didn't seem to take Caroline and the rest much time to get there at all, so it's close to Mystic Falls, if not completely located within the town.
Bonnie's dad has a hell of a lot of explaining to do. If only Bonnie would let him explain.

Did they ever explain how damon could fly control fog and his bird (which i thought was him shape shifting but never shown) I understand maybe they were like "No this too supernatural for our sipernatural show" irl but what reason was their in show?
