It looks like this is finally going to theaters in July. It appears to have been picked up by Universal pictures, so that's awesome, and here is the trailer!: video.uk.msn.com/watch/video/anomaly-exclusive-trailer/2t5vkpiy?from=
I made this section so we can talk about this movie before and after it comes out. I'm not sure the release date is great since there will be a lot of competition around that holiday, July 4th. Ian's character looks like he's not the hero...good! It certainly looks interesting so far.

So exactly what, the marketing asks, is The Anomaly? That question is at the heart of Noel Clarke’s new film, a high-concept sci-fi thriller with a fine young cast including Ian Somerhalder, Alexis Knapp and the third of the Hemsworth brothers, Luke. Brian Cox also joins in the fun and he’s always worth watching. The trailer below gives an idea of what’s in store, with a neat near-future design and some hearty violence amongst the rapid fire Quantum Leap mystery elements. www.heyuguys.co.uk/exclusive-look-new-poster-anomaly-starring-luke-hemsworth-noel-clarke/

They have started to advertise The Anomaly on UK TV, therefore, it does look like the promotion has started.

I wonder if they'll ever even show it here. I'm starting to wonder if things went sour with this movie as Ian hasn't mentioned it in a while and I haven't heard anything about a premier or Ian being there if there is one. Wouldn't that likely be this weekend? He's in Toronto right now and supposed to be there until Saturday.
Noel Clarke ranted a bit on his twitter about 'actresses' implying possibly some not so nice things about them and their lack of promotion of the movie. Who he was talking about is unclear. Perhaps Alexis Knapp? In any case I thought it was pretty unprofessional of him to do that no matter who he was referring to.

These are the tweets that made people pause and wonder what he was so pissed off about:
Noel Clarke @noelclarke Apr 16 If you don't support your work you are #Scum
Noel Clarke @noelclarke · Apr 18 No matter how nice she seems when u met. If studio says she adds no value. N co producers say she's a pain in the ass. Dont hire the actress
And there was this...having known someone who did promotional photography for posters of bands, actors, actresses, etc. I can say that it is not unusual to have photos held up for some time for approval of the 'talent' so I don't see why this is such a big deal to him and not pretty much par for the course, but...
From his tumblr: noelclarke.tumblr.com/post/83087619678/lesson-for-directors-no2
Lesson for Directors. #No2
Always learning.
Recently I learnt about “Reasonable waiting time”.
What does it relate to?
Well just as an example It relates to when you’ve given an actress (Usually but could be a dude) image approval.
This means they can choose the pictures of them you use when it comes to the time a film is going to be released. Sometimes though, when said actress and their agent believe they are much more important than you they just won’t bother answering your emails and this will leave you waiting for an unreasonable amount of time to approve a damn picture.
But…
I’ve learnt from studio lawyers, better than I can afford, that after “Reasonable waiting time”. Where it is clear they will not answer or just think they have the right to work at their own unreasonable speed. (Let’s say 5-10 days)
The studio will take it upon then selves to put the image they want to use out.
LESSONS - Don’t give potentially difficult people image approval. And if you do. Make sure they understand reasonable waiting time.
Lesson to difficult Actresses (Or Actors) No one is less or more important than anyone. Respect everyone, especially people that put their faith and belief in you when others told them they shouldn’t. And know that the faster you rise the faster you will fall.
**The Above is all Hypothetical of course.

Yes, Ian has been the only one promoting this film on twitter, it is how The Anomaly on twitter gained its followers, so far I've heard or seen nothing from the other actors/actresses also appearing in the film. But yesterday the trailer appeared after every commericial break, and it does look like it will be appearing in cinamas over the UK. Ian's problem now is that a lot of other things have also occured at the same time so he is busy.

Sci fi is kind of hard a genre to do. It can turn out looking cheesy if they don't do it right.

What was nice was they didn't give it the big hard sell like they do with most movies, which means when you went to see them you were disappointed. They played on the mystery angle of what is The Anomaly, therefore, anyone curious to know.....would go and see it. The timing is perfect, because, the schools will be off for the July fortnight (two weeks break)

A review already and a pretty good one! They call Ian a 'scene stealer.' Why yes, he is!

EIFF Review: The Anomaly 10:47 A+ A-
Noel Clarke's third directorial feature sees him in front of the cameras once again in science-fiction action piece, The Anomaly.
Set in the future, a former-soldier Ryan (Clarke) wakes up holding a young boy captive, with no memory of how he got there. After nine minutes forty-seven seconds, he blacks out waking up several days later in a new location with a mysterious figure (Ian Somerhalder), until blacking out again. In these brief moments of consciousness it is up to Ryan to piece together his surroundings, until he gradually discovers a wider conspiracy featuring bio-technology and mind control.
The Anomaly is reminiscent of these late eighties/early nineties sci-fi actioners like Timecop and Demolition Man. Clarke crafts a believable futuristic universe (well that is until you see billboards for Elysium and We Are the Millers) with sleek silver skylines and glossy technology. This combined with the fast-paced reboot concept (no scenes last longer than 9m 47s) keeps things relatively fresh and allows for the film to play about with a globetrotting structure.
Clarke keeps The Anomaly's plot as mysterious as he can with a gradually unfolding narrative that unveils elements of mind-control and nanobots which slowly begin to explain previous curiosities (mostly anyway - we are still left with a few questions at the end). There are a few moments of well-crafted action that keeps the pace fast: scenes which see Ryan take on Luke Hemsworth's sneering secret agent or a barrage of seedy gangsters manage to stand out.
Clarke could do this small-scale action in his sleep and although not Britain's finest thesp, he does the English tough guy with a heart shtick well. However, it's Ian Somerhalder that is likely to command the audience's attention the dazzling blue-eyed Vampire Diaries star packs a huge amount of charisma and swagger into his villainous role. Unfortunately supporting player Brian Cox does not get much chance to ham it up as he is confined to a strange scientific shoebox for most of the proceedings with very little to do.
The plot does verge on ridiculous at points (especially when characters begin channelling Brian Cox) and some of the dialogue will make your toes curl - all I will mention is the film's last line "How about you take control?" which is likely to inspire an overload of cringing. These elements can be forgiven as anything goes in science-fiction, and this sleek B-Movie puts fun at its forefront.
The Anomaly is a solid and completely enjoyable effort from Clarke. He makes an impressive on-screen tough guy and shows he can direct action as well as he performs it. An inventive structure and a scene-stealing performance from Somerhalder makes The Anomaly an impressive piece of sci-fi.
