Also when it comes to the originals. With the exception of Klaus none of them are actually villains. They might of started that way in the beginning but both Elijah and Rebekah have been somewhat redeemed, and we've seen the motives behind a lot of their actions, so we understand why they've done some of the things we've seen. Elijah just wanted to be reunited with his family, and Rebekah just loved her brother, and felt loyal to him despite all the terrible things he did, in a sense she was just lost. Klaus is the only TRUE villain of the originals we've met so far, but even he wasn't just pure evil from the beginning. His mother and"father's" treatment of him is one of the main reasons why he turned out the way he did, but of course none of that excuses the fact that he made a choice to be what he was. So I do think we're supposed to like the originals. I'm not sure I'm supposed to love Klaus as much as I do though . But it's all relative, the writers know that there are fans who like villains so, I don't think they'd be surprised to see that they're popular.

I think the show has an issue with clearly picking a villain. Everyone that has come along in that role, once we got a look at their story, you realize they really aren't or they have a justified reason for doing what they're doing. Even Klaus. Once we got a look at his relationship with his Father (and even saw him start to cry when Mikael was taunting him), it made you feel bad for him. Made you realize all this time, he was trying to find a way to rid his family of this man's abusive nature and that Klaus himself has been afraid of this one man for over a thousand years.
The show just can't make a 'villain' to me. Katherine was doing what she was doing for survival, the Tomb Vampires were wronged by an entire town (and then Pearl wanted to just put it behind her and live a normal life), Elijah just wanted his family back which was the same with the Martins, and so on. There is that aspect of understanding the decisions they made in their situations. Klaus' obsession and decisions stem directly from his relationship with his parents and his love for his family.

I do understand Klaus's reasons for what he's done, but I don't think those reasons are justified. He was hurt by his family, Mother & Father, but his actions were still a bit extreme, and certainly not justified. Daggering his siblings simply because they don't agree with him is not something that can be justified. Killing for sport is not justified.
I can understand what made him the way he is, I certainly feel bad about the way his parents treated him back in the day and it certainly explains a lot about why he acts the way he does. But it doesn't exactly make him redeemable so this is why he still the only real Villain of the originals so far.

They are extreme but it's what he thinks needs to be done to rid himself of Mikael and protect his family. Daggering his Brothers and Sister(s?) was his way of keeping them close, without any objection from them and also a means to keep them from getting in the way of meeting the goal(s) he had in mind. It may be his reasoning but he saw it as fine because well, he can wake them up later. Having that much control over their lives though just because he wants his way is extreme, whether its for their protection or not. It's not from Mikael either. Mikael had nothing against Bekah and after Elijah split from the trio, it doesn't sound like Mikael ever went after him either. Although all the family may have not liked Mikael's treatment, he was ultimately after Klaus and Klaus was trying rope his Brothers/Sister into the conflict as well. His reasoning is family but his impact on others and the length of the time that's been is what makes him stand out as the 'worse' that's come along so far (aside from being an Original Hybrid). It'll be interesting to see how he's topped. They'd have to go with someone that's just living/going around for the kill. Someone who just wants to watch the world burn and others suffer.

I like her a lot... I hope the writers don't kill her off so easily like they did with everyone else.

I don't think they'll kill her off. As far as we know the one weapon that could be used to kill an original was used on Michael, so unless another stake shows up somewhere I don't think we have to worry about them killing Rebekah off just yet. It's possible that they could "dagger" her again, but I really hope that's not the case. They kinda over did that scenario with the whole Elijah thing. So I hope there's no repeat. But when Rebekah is undaggered I know she's going to be pissed at everyone. at Klaus for killing her mother, and at Elena for daggering her. But I wonder who she'll side with when it's all said and done. (If she sides with anyone at all). I can see her trying to get to her other siblings instead. But of course Stefan has them, so that's probably one more person on her **** list.

Oh Rebekah, my Rachel Berry of the TVD world.
Rebekah has been used and manipulated by almost every character on the show but she holds herself together for the most part. I'm glad she ran off and escaped crazy Alaric. I actually hope she isn't back in the finale so I don't have to worry about her dying.
