A LONG WAY HOME - Knowing she needs to come to terms with the loss of Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena (Nina Dobrev) turns to Alaric (Matt Davis) to help her move on with her life. Enzo (Michael Malarkey) convinces Caroline (Candice Accola) to join him as he tracks down a lead to get Damon and Bonnie (Kat Graham) back, but Caroline is shocked when they make an unexpected detour and uncover what Stefan (Paul Wesley) has been up to. Meanwhile, Matt (Zach Roerig) worries about Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) who is spending time with Sarah (guest star Gabrielle Walsh), a mysterious girl who has recently arrived in Mystic Falls. Elsewhere, Tripp (guest star Colin Ferguson), leader of the community protection program, makes an interesting confession to Matt about his connection to the town. Lastly, with the Other Side destroyed and gone for good, Damon and Bonnie reluctantly band together to uncover the mystery of where they are and how they are going to get back home

This episode was was a mixed bag. It was mostly good though. First lets talk about the good. Enzo was back! He is so awesome in this series. As I said last season he was a great addition as he is like season 1+3 Damon. Damon I feel in season 3 was great and showed character development then season 4 + 5 they made him too cartoony as he'd swap from good Damon to villain/anti--hero damon as the script called for it making him a tad bi-polar I did not like this. With Enzo in that role I feel Damon can be good Damon with just moments of badass (which he did evolve too because of his love for elena she made him a better person) Sorry back to the episode lol. Enzo + Caroline together yay! (I think im the only person here who has this as their favourite ship LOL) Enzo's response seeing Caroline crying is brilliant and I loved how he reacted to it so much and it shows he does like her! Stefan snapping his neck during their first fight was a little stupid as Enzo was older (I think). Older = Stronger is the rule that annoys me they retconed But It was worth it for story as Enzo just kicked his ass when he upset Caroline which was great. Damon and Bonnie together were great too. I love their bickering yet sweetness. It feels natural. This episode was well structured even with the time jumps. Also Bonnie found the old grimoire YES! please let her become a witch again please I've been begging for this as they screwed her over so much since no longer been a witch. Also Damon cooking for her is great it shows he cares without been out of character. I like it This episode also made me want to know more. More of what is up with Trip in his punisher van. Has he made his power ranger group to be Vampire hunters? If so will Matt join it fully? If so will he fight any of the main characters? The other big question is who is the other side/past with Bonnie + Damon? The person who solved the crossword? I'm really hoping it's Katherine (she was mentioned this episode) as I HATE how they killed and erased her as she was a great character. Now the bad. They actually went ahead with the mind wipe? REALLY? A ****ING MIND WIPE? So lazy and annoying. What's worse, Elena first loved Damon during her birthday party when stefan was off killing? really? she only loved him in season 3? I'm not a 100% Delena anymore due to how it's handled but COME THE **** ON. The reason Delena worked was scenes like this :      Oh yeah look on her face. That's not love that's just boredom. *bangs head on wall* so Not only did they mess Delena up they retconed/erased all the stuff that made them great? This urks me this really urks me. Season 2 (and even 1) had enough Delena scenes that season 3 didn't feel out of place. Now let's look at this from another prospective. Stefan sacrificing himself to Klaus to save Damon who he loved, his brother. How did Damon thank him? He stole his girlfriend who had NO feelings for him till that point. What a dick! Yes I showed scenes above that showed Elena did but clearly I'm just an Asshole who reads into things too much. When she showed love him it was just pitty/fear , When they said "Older = Stronger" they clearly meant "Older =/= stronger" I should just sell my dvds of this show cause clearly it's far too complex for my stupid little mind to figure out! It's like inception, some get it some don't I guess I don't. Sorry if this snarky response is too negative but come on season 3 bithday party = the first time she loved him? **** YOU WRITERS. This may be the most annoyed I've ever been with the series. The episode was great but that one thing (well that and Alaric on the other side shaved? did he use a ghost razor? lol) is just annoying. Delena Should not not be erased. no couple/feelings should as they show growth and character development. I don't like Stelena BUT guess what? if they erased that too I'd be pissed as it was important to the characters. I give this episode an 8/10 I'd have given it an 10 but they really annoyed me. Sorry if I'm over-reacting but I feel it's our right as long time fans who support this show for years to expect things we loved not to be erased. I know you're just being dramatic but Damon did not steal Elena...first of all she isn't an object one can 'steal' and second of all, she fell in love with Damon of her own accord. Damon did not coerce her into loving him. I mean who really can 'make' someone love them? It's impossible. If it were possible there'd be a lot less broken hearts in the world. Just wanted to point that out. I know you were probably just being sarcastic but...there are people that actually do believe that. I don't really have a problem with the timing of Elena's love for Damon. She was 'falling' in love before that but she wasn't there yet. She still loved Stefan but that doesn't mean she wasn't on her way and she wasn't developing feelings for Damon long before 3x01. I actually felt vindicated by this admittance of Elena's because if you asked a Stelena fan they'd tell you that Elena never loved Damon until the sire bond, so to me the timing is even earlier than I expected for her to actually be in love with Damon. I placed it at around 3x10. |

You are definitely in the minority with the Cenzo stuff I think, but I'm kind of there with you :-) I like Caroline with someone she can banter with. And I like Enzo, whereas most of the time I really don't like Stefan ... I feel like Stefan doesn't really belong with anyone lol, he's not very good at relationships. I agree that the scene where Enzo finds Caroline crying and then goes to tell Stefan off is one of my favorites this season. I totally loved that. Stefan needs to come a long way further before I'm able to really ship Steroline. Right now that relationship is leaving me cold, whereas Cenzo is totally sparking to me :-) You mentioned the older=stronger thing, but do we actually know how old Enzo is? I don't remember them ever saying what year he became a vampire. As far as I know they haven't actually told us his back story (except in the last episode he mentioned he died of consumption). There are a lot of people out there who would argue that Elena didn't love Damon until after the sire bond in season 4, so telling us officially that she was in love with him in episode 1 of season 3 is actually a huge step for Delena. And all the little moments leading up to THAT moment showed her process of falling for him: the first time they met, the road trip they took together, the Miss Mystic dance, when he was dying from the werewolf bite, etc. ... All those moments were her FALLING for him, and by 3x01 she had fallen, she was in love, she knew she could love him forever. But she chose to remember faithful to Stefan because she believed that was the right thing to do. And again I agree with Doppel, Damon did not take her away from Stefan. You cannot force someone to love you. He loved her, and she loved him, that’s just the way life goes sometimes. And it sucked for Stefan, sure. But he's over it now, so who cares lol. Bottom line, I think they have done a good job of telling us that this is a Delena love story, and those of us that have believed that from the start have been vindicated by the admission of her love for him being established as of 3x01. Now the problem for me is, not all great love stories have happy endings. In fact most of them don't ... But I'm still hoping Delena will. |

I mean in season 2 when Katherine was in the cave with Stefan stefan said to protect her and Katherine said "That right there was the biggest mistake you ever made" and Stefan's face showed she was right. Why would that scene exist unless it was to show the feelings. and more I just feel Delena in season 5 + 6 has been so mistreated (maybe because of ratings of the Stelena fans not watching) and this was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Sorry my rant has caused confusion or if I was the only one to angry about that moment been chosen |

Well it's canon now that she fell in love 3x01. I mean she was obviously developing those feelings along the way but actually loving him was in 3x01. |

I can agree to disagree. I just felt by the end of season 2 she had feelings but it's ok if others don't
