And how can we forget the noble and devoted Murtagh who's eyebrows should win an Emmy! HAHA totally! Also, don't you love how delightfully devious Geillis is? And creepy lol. She's totally got the crazy eyes going on. I am really looking forward to all the stuff with her that's coming up :-) And I loved seeing little Roger in the last episode, that was a fun little nod to the fans. What a cutie that little boy was!

Oh my God you guys, I love you for telling me about this show! I have a new love and seeing as I've only really seen my Dad in a kilt (He's in the US organization for our clan) I didn't realize they were so sexy! LOL You know I remember seeing a preview for this show and thinking, that looks good I should watch it, because it has everything I love and it's set in the highlands, the area that my ancestors are from specifically so wow, just wow.
I watched all the episodes since my last post so I'm all caught up! And I want to read the books now. My Grandmother and Grandfather (one from each side) were both born in the Scottish highlands and both spoke Gaelic so this is like going home to me, truly. My parents have a Gaelic translation book and I remember looking through it and trying to figure out words and oh my God I have listened to Gaelic Scottish music forever...there's something in my blood I think! haha Time to stop denying it...hee
Oh and I take back all the times I said red headed men are NOT sexy...it was a dirty lie!

HAHAHA YAY!!! Welcome to the obsession Doppel! Happy to have you here :-) I totally feel the same way. I have Scottish ancestry on my mother's side, and she has always been really into it. My entire childhood all we ever listened to was Celtic folk music lol. And we went there for a 2 week trip when I was in high school. It was INCREDIBLE!!! We went everywhere, and I had read the books already at that point (and so did she) so we were like, "Jamie and Claire were here!" lol. It's even more beautiful than it is on screen, which is saying something, because the cinematography on this show is AMAZING!!! And yeah, red heads ... HOT lol. Oh my gosh, so in love haha. I just love how he is so manly and so romantic at the same time. And his little smirks, and those eyes, and just ... yeah. Frank who? lol. I'm so glad you've joined up, because I've been wanting to know how someone who never read the books feels about everything. It's great when a show can interest people coming to it with fresh eyes and no preconceived opinions. Plus, we have 6 months to wait for new episodes :-( so we need something to do while we wait! lol

YES!!! So glad you loved it Dopple! I'm off to work and will post more but love your enthusiasm and all your highland background. We know Jamie's clan motto is Je Suis Prest, do you know yours? Mine is Per terra per mar which translates to By land and sea. My family were from the lowlands of Scotland...more like the area where Sam Hueghan grew up.
CHAT SOON ALL THINGS GAELIC! Aye!

Yes, my Dad's been to Scotland several times and even got a tour of our clan castle which is still standing from the 16th century but now is a private residence. He's been trying to get me to go...maybe I should!

I might have to actually get more serious about Gaelic...lol Yes, I do know my clan motto. There's a crest of it too at our castle. Here it is: Chief's Motto: I hoip in God. Chief's Slogan & War Cry: "Fraoch Eilean" (Which means The heathery isle). I go to the Highland games they have here because my Dad works them sometimes with our clan booth to touch bases with other clan members and help people find their clan and yes my last name starts with Mc. I have a very unique Celtic first name you've probably never heard of and that's why I never give it out on the internet! It makes it hard when people ask for my name, but I'd be way too easy to find. I've only ever heard of less than a handful of other women with my name and they've come from Ireland for the most part. Oddly in our family tree are many variations of my name with the women through the generations. I don't think my parents planned it that way!
If you've never been to a highland games I definitely suggest it...tons of men in kilts..hehe (Now much sexier) The grayer version is the 'weathered' tartan. I think I need to buy me some of that in my tartan. I do have the non weathered variety in a scarf.

An interesting historical fact about my family is that on my mother's side I am related to Robert the Bruce and remarkably we were able to trace my family back to the 12th century on that side mainly because of the royalty (who actually kept records) and on my father's side they fought against Robert the Bruce and lost a lot of their lands because of it. I doubt my parents would have married had they lived back then...lol There would have been no epic romance there!

Anyway, back to the show...I think it's cool how they took so much time to build up to the story with Jamie and Claire. I liked it all but it really got good in the last couple episodes and left me wanting to see more. And as much as I think Frank seems like a good guy, with that horrid ancestor of his and the way he attacked those people who wanted to steal his money I have to wonder if he has a dark side to him. I want to read the books but then in a way I don't because everything has been a pleasant surprise up until now.

Dopple...all your Scottish roots and you are just now discovering Outlander! All things in their time. Yes, go to the Highland games every year. I wouldnt miss them. I host a Burns Supper in January as well. Love haggis! I would highly recommend you read the books. They take your breath away and melt your socks at the same time.
I think the second half of the series will have Jamie being more of the fierce warrior than the infactuated lad and I am so ready for it. Grrrrr!!!!
I have a question...how do I post a picture in the reply from my photo stream? Can't just copy and paste I guess.

I want to read the books but then in a way I don't because everything has been a pleasant surprise up until now. I know what you mean. It's been a really long time since I read the books, and I really don't remember the details at all. I keep thinking maybe I should reread them, but then I think I'd rather be surprised by the show, and not remember everything that's going to happen. And also it helps me be less picky about things they might change :-) But yeah, the slow build to the romance is so well written. You really get to watch these people really get to know each other and develop their feelings realistically over time. And yeah, Frank was definitely showing a darker side in that last episode. Nowhere near as bad as Black Jack of course, he gives me the shivers. But still, if I had to choose, it would be Jamie all the way! lol But I'm sure almost every woman on the planet would say that haha.
