I want to see this look on his face more. Just look at how content he looks holding Elena in his arms like it's all he ever wanted in the world. I can never get enough of that scene, the way Elena ground her hips against him, the way his eyes rolled back in his head. I think I might have liked it even more than the DEx scenes we got. At least their 'vamp sex' wasn't interrupted. More blood sharing please!!!

Can we have a Damon spinoff show instead of the Originals. You know a bit like when Angel left Btvs - it was slightly darker and more adult.

Well if you think what a massive boost Angel was to David Boreanaz' career. He definitely needs a more adult show rather than a teen drama so that he can show off his acting skills more on something darker and with a lot more depth to the story and characters

I guess it depends on where he wants to go from here. I think he might be getting tired of playing Damon but we will see. He's 34 and I think he knows he's only got so many more years before he's not in demand as a 'leading man' anymore so what he does in the next few years is pretty important for his future.

Men have a longer life span as leads or actors though - look at Clooney, RDJ and even Johnny Depp (50 years old!!! And still cheekbones to die for). Men definitely get sexier as they get older. I looked at some of Ian's earlier stuff (purely research) and he honestly does not have the same level of hot in his 20s as he does now. Hopefully therefore he will get a damn good role he can sink his teeth into (not literally) and really show his skills

You read my mind, I was thinking that not so long ago it could be called The Vampire Dairies: Damon It would be lovely if they decided on a Damon spinoff which would allow Damon to be as snarky and go as dark as the charector can go and still be the hero. I for one would like this to happen...

I totally agree that if its possible Ian is actually growing into his looks and I think keeping his hair longer offsets his looks much better. If you notice in his younger days he wore his hair much shorter and although he was handsome it also made him look the geek he once described himself of being.

Exactly, I've always maintained that they should have done a Damon's Diaries so that we get to see things from Damon's point of view. I find it interesting that despite all the odds too make Stefan the hero in the books it is the book Damon who captures the imagination and grew in popularity no matter how dark his charector was, and this has also happened on the show as well. There is just something about the way the charector is written in the books and the way Ian has portrayed Damon on screen that appeals to the reader and viewer alike. Hence Damon's popularity.

Yeah but those particular men were already at the top of the game before they hit their 40's and 50's so people wanted to keep seeing them even though they were beyond the age of 'male lead.' I'm not saying it's right. I think people of all ages can and should be given those sort of roles but that's traditionally how they do it. Yes, men get longer, but 40 is usually the cut off and he's just a little over 5 years away from that.

True but I will say that Ian had alot to do with bringing Damon alive, because he has the perfect snark and attitude for it. I can't imagine anyone else in the role.

Yes, men get longer, but 40 is usually the cut off and he's just a little over 5 years away from that. Although, Clint Eastwood had been acting for a long time, because he was tall and skinny and had such a soft voice Hollywood didn't know what to do with him, he never got the leading roles. Clint didn't become a big screen star until his mid to late 30s and it was the introduction of the Spaghetti Western (A Fist Full Of Dollars) that did it for him, and even then it was by sheer luck, because the actor Ennio Mariconne wanted Charles Bronson only he was busy, so Clint got the role and the rest is history, however, the irony here is when Clint was required for the role of the harmonica playing hero in Once Upon A Time In The West, he was busy with his Dirty Harry Movies and this time it was Charles Bronson who was available. Prior to that at the age of 29 to 35 Clint was becoming well known for his role as Rowdy Yates in the tv series Rawhide, just as Ian is doing with LOST and TVD Paul Newman is another Hollywood great who didn't become a big screen star until his 30's and I could give you a list of Hollywood royality who were not young men when they became screen idols. Therefore, traditionally some of the best known actors grafted their way through tonnes of movies before they found the one that made them into big stars. And most of the younger stars who have made it big, started life either in soaps, sitcoms or tv dramas, but even so they have been in the business for sometime before they made it big.... For Ian as it was with Clint and Paul it is not the age but the series or the movie that will take him that one step further to world stardom.
