EXECUTIVE PRODUCER JULIE PLEC MAKES HER DIRECTORIAL DEBUT — After assigning tasks to each of her friends, Caroline (Candice Accola) attempts to deal with her current situation as reality begins to set in around her. While spending the day with Caroline, Elena (Nina Dobrev) grows concerned when she starts noticing a strange change in her behavior. Meanwhile, Alaric (Matt Davis) becomes wary when Kai (guest star Chris Wood), who has begun experiencing unexpected consequences from the merge, turns to Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), desperate for her help. Elsewhere, while Bonnie (Kat Graham) finds herself in an unfamiliar situation, Matt (Zach Roerig) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) contemplate a major life change. And when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) offers Caroline advice on how to cope with everything going on around her, it forces him to revisit painful memories involving his own mother. Paul Wesley also stars. Is it bad that when I read the line "Matt and Tyler contemplate a major life change" part of me was kind of hoping it would be that they decided they are gay and attracted to each other? :-)

lol yeah its a bit odd but his storyline from the beginning has now seem to just kinda blended into Caroline's. It's like his role is 'Caroline's love interest' instead of the other way around.

Well we all know how much JP loves Caroline!  I honestly think she sees younger herself as a do over through Caroline.

Well, I thought this episode was great. I loved it. Of course there were things that frustrated and bugged me, but on the whole it was really enjoyable.

Firstly, Kai was fantastic as usual. Man I really love that guy! I seriously hope they find a way for him to stick around on the show. I will be so sorry to see him go if they kill him off. Also, Jo and Alaric getting engaged and having a baby ... not sure how I feel about it. I'll have to wait and see. I like it and I don't like it, if that makes sense.
Liz's funeral was beautiful, and everything she deserved.
Delena was sweet and tender, and their togetherness is really giving me joy. I really wish she had her memories back so they could do it properly, but this doesn't suck lol.
Elena was good in this episode, paying attention to Caroline and being there for her in wonderful ways. I loved how she made sure everything was about Caroline and nothing else mattered. Matt was great with that too, telling Tyler to get lost when he showed up drunk off his a**. And his eyes filling with tears during the funeral was a very moving moment to me. After all, Matt had been Caroline's first serious boyfriend (at least on the show).
And, I have to admit, Steroline is starting to win me over! This was a great episode for them! I loved how both brothers don't really know how to recognize that there are different ways you can fall in love. But it was very beautiful the way Stefan was going through this revelation over the course of the episode. As he listened to Damon tell Caroline how extraordinary she was, and then watching her as she sang ... you could just see the light dawning in his eyes that his feelings were more real than he thought. It was really beautiful. And now of course they have an obstacle in their way with this humanity switch situation. Which actually adds a level of anticipation for me that I wasn't feeling before lol, so yeah ... I think I'm finally getting on board with this.
Damon ... I cannot say enough wonderful things about Damon in this episode. He is just so incredible. How anyone can hate him is just beyond me. My heart broke a little in that first scene when he was trying to share with Caroline and she basically told him to go f**k himself. I know she's grieving, but that really pissed me off. If it weren't for Damon you would have had like 6 months less with your mother cause she would have died in that explosion Caroline! Stop being such a B**CH to him would ya for god sakes???!!! But then even after that, he was so sweet to her during his speech. Telling her all those beautiful things. What an angel he is. And doing his best to give Stefan advice when he asked, even though he was wrong about his assessment of the situation. If Stefan really didn't have the right kind of feelings for Caroline, then Damon's advice would have been spot on. And in the flashback! Sweet teenage Damon taking care of his little brother was so precious. Oh my gosh I am so in love with him right now lol.
Ok, and the last thing I really loved about this episode was how it kept me on the edge of my seat, dying to know what was going to happen next. It was like the old days, I loved it! Even though at the end of the episode I was freaking out and totally confused, it was nice to feel like that again lol.

Ok, stuff that's bothering me. The timeline is confusing. The Salvatore mother "died" in 1857. But in a prison world set in 1903 she doesn't seem to have aged (and is obviously still alive). So what happened to her in those like 50 years in between her "death" and getting sent to the prison world? It seems like she must have been turned in to a vampire. It would certainly explain their father's hatred. But it is quite a mystery right now.
But yeah, I don't like that they are making her possibly evil. What more are they going to put Damon through?? And I really didn't like the fact that her "angel" visited Stefan to comfort him but not Damon. Come on writers!! WTF is that about?? Please don't make it so that their mother doesn't love him. I will just be so disgusted with these people if that's what they do. How could a mother not love that beautiful boy?? Ugh ...
Alright, and the Bamon reunion. It was a little over the top and weird. I mean, in some ways it was cute. But it didn't really make sense character wise. Why would Bonnie be most eager to see Damon first before anyone else? They only just started to become friends. She hasn't seen Elena or Jeremy in over 6 months. She should have been running all over town trying to find them. I mean she didn't know Jeremy was gone. It was just weird, and yeah, it felt like fan bating. Frustrating, but I will reserve my judgment until I see how things play out in the next episode.

So many things happend in this episode and March 12 seems so far away. My favourite scene was when caroline wakes up surrounded with friends, I mean, how wonderful was that?! And Candice's singing teared up my eyes, I was already there but that song....
So Bonnie is finally back!!! The writers are torturing too much the only valuable character.
I liked Elena in this episode, reminded me of her in S1-3, when I liked her. I don't like the part about Caroline turning her emotions off, because it's already been seen. I watched the trailer for the next ep and something weird happend to her hair. She said that her experience will be different but all they've shown is that she's feeding and making out with Liam.
I like how Alaric and Jo's story is developing because they are one of a few who get to have a normal life. I like seeing Matt as an officer but not Tyler, he could easily kill someone on that job and trigger the werewolf gene.
Finally a good episode!

Another episode that I really enjoyed. I've been staying away from spoilers as well, so that makes it more surprising for me when I don't know what scenes are coming. 

The opening scene with young Caroline and her mother was so sweet. I'm glad we got to see the rest of that memory. 

Kai is great, love watching him even when he has not too much screen time. When Jo started throwing up I immediately thought it was a twin thing gone wrong - which is funny because usually when I see a woman throwing up on tv, my first thought is pregnancy. They threw me off because so many people on this show can't have babies, lol. I like that Ric proposed to her, it is the most normal relationship he has had in a while - funny considering the whole Gemini twin merge stuff, haha. When he first blurted it out I thought "no Ric, not like that!" Then he explained he was planning it and pulled out the ring and then I was totally on board.

I was annoyed with how short Caroline was with Damon at the house - he was just trying to have a conversation with her! I'm confused with their relationship though because when Damon first came back, she was at least civil to him and calling him concerning Elena, now she's back to being repulsed? I was not a fan of his advice to her because someone will turn that around on him. In my opinion, she was already thinking about turning off the switch (Liz' dream when she was about to die the first time foreshadowed that). I was really hoping either Elena would be able to talk her out of it, or Stefan would show up in time to tell her his feelings or even Bonnie could have come home in time to lift her spirits! Ugh. I hope she's not turned off for too long because I feel like Stefan and Elena were a bit too drawn out for me and I didn't care to see Damon (did he turn his off when Elena/Kat broke his heart and he ran off with Enzo?).

I loved the Salvatore boys flashbacks, Damon cared so much for his little brother. He really looked out for him and it really showed that losing Kat and having to turn without her really iced him. I love this Damon-centered episode as well. It showed all the great parts about him and maybe people will back off of their "he's so bad" rants. His speech to Care at the funeral was beautiful. The sweet subtle moments with Elena these last few episodes are nice. I like them how they are - as a normal couple. I hope we do in fact get to see them "together" doing things and being romantic before one of them goes off on another save Mystic Falls mission - although it seems they'll be focused on getting Caroline back and figuring out what's going on with the Salvatore mom. Sigh.

Normally I don't care for watching Bonnie in the AU by herself, but I enjoyed watching the worlds change as she was trying to get back to present day. I knew she would make it back but part of me was like "what's going to happen?!" Lol. 

I wasn't too keen on the fact that Matt didn't let Ty into the funeral, I didn't think he was super belligerent that he would have disrupted anything. Sit him in the back, but at least he could pay his respects. Boo Matt. I saw the police thing coming a mile away (for Matt), but for Ty --- uh uh. Can we say trigger the werewolf curse if he has to pull a gun out and kill someone? Nope, don't do it Ty! The funeral was lovely, great way to honor our fallen Sheriff. The other officers on the radio made me teary and then Caroline's song was fabulous. However, I thought Stefan's "revelation" should have been a bit more subtle. All of his looks just irked me for some reason. I feel like all of those outside forces shouldn't have led him to his decision (Damon's speech and then her being so strong to sing the song), he should have known to begin with. I would have felt better if he was able to go back and tell Damon before the funeral that he was wrong and it is something worth exploring.

Aaaannndd Bonnie's return. I'm glad she's finally back cause I don't have to watch her all by herself in the AU anymore. I agree with some other posters, I'm not sure why she didn't leave the house to find her friends when it was empty. Then when she saw Damon, I thought it was cute, albeit a bit much. But, if this leads to more friends on Damon's side, then cool. I like them as friends. I hated Bonnie in the earlier seasons because of all her snarky remarks towards him (and some of the other vamps) so if she is nicer to him because of it, then I'm for it. Hopefully she'll be working to keep him with Elena when they inevitably hit those future bumps in the road.

I had free time now im caught up again to where we are in uk to do this weeks another review/thoughts/ramblings which is episode 15 Let her go. I have not done a longer one since 11 so I think this is due lol.
We open with another flashback of little caroline and her first bike ride again. It’s a moving scene and the pint-sized Caroline is soooo adorable. Can we DragonBall GT it and turn her back into a little kid for series? …. Actually GT sucked so never mind lol
Caroline awakes to find Angel …. I mean Stefan asleep. I’ve said it before but seriously Paul Wesley looks sooo much like David Boreanaz it’s eery in some shots lol. But she finds Damon trying to write the eulogy. She tells Damon she does not want to bond with him. I love they have always kept her more Anti-Damon than pro it makes sense to not wuss out and go “ahhh most fans loves lets make them bffs” as it feels more real based on everything.
Caroline been all neurotic and her “ok guys we have to plan” mood is great lol. It’s like the most adorable character flaw of all lol others flaws involve so many neck snaps (damon) or ripping people apart then stacking them like a 3d puzzle (Stefan) caroline has plan mode.
Bonnie is alive and as you know I love Bonnie but she describes to camera all her broken toes and injuries but says “I don’t care I have my magic back” THEN DO A HEALING SPELL! I mean come on. Even orihime knows to use her powers to heal

And she’s a bimbo! Your bonnie you are so much smarter than that. That is literally like saying “im soooo thirsty” then only using the water to wash your feet! …… sorry logic moment for me.
Alarics girlfriend is vomiting in the toilet and Kai shows up Awwwwww he’s “Changed!” I use quotes as he is obviously going to turn evil again. But he’s defective and needs fixing
Then we see Damon getting ready and remembering when Stefan had episode I Anakin hair. I’m confused on ages so much I thought Damon was only like a couple of years older but here is Stefan as a little kid and damon looks the same age he is now ….. Is this a retcon or am I confused.
Tiny Ripper tells Damon their mother visited them …. I think I was right last week shes obviously a vampire showing up later right? It’s too obvious. However cut back to present time and Stefan needs advice on Caroline.
Wow they actually just said “Stefans in love but not real love like Elena” LET THE GUY MOVE ON geez. Also Damon saying “if it was true love you wouldn’t have to ask” seems hypocritical as he spent how long in love with Elena and got advice of how many people before they were together. So either a) Delena is not true love based on that , B) Damon is a massive hypocrite douche incapable of change or c) this is forced drama of “is it real love” I’m guessing C based on how every couple now gets written same way. Step 1 get together step 2 doubt its real step 3 ? step 4 profit!
Elena and Caroline talk about the fact Stefan and her kissed and Elena looks shocked to hear it then looks mad. Either bad acting or Elena is jealous. You know me I guess Jealous thing but not cause she loves Stefan but because someone else will get attention
Kai gets checked out for his medical advice and realises he still needs the magic of Alaric’s girlfriend as Bonnie trys to escape but instead makes it snow? ….. weird. But Damon is still trying to write his eulogy and keeps flashing back to his past. I hope Damon knows some day that kid will become Darth Vader

Speaking of Stefan him and Caroline meet up in the church with the body. Then they start talking about talking ….. it’s like inception! LOL but no poor Caroline her face and awkward “I can list the categories if you like” means she just knows Stefan wants to put her in the

Then bonnie sees the sky glow green …… OMG IT’S THE TOMMYKNOCKERS RUN! ….. sorry I see a green glow and ask a question. Is this set in the dc universe? Yes = Lantern ring or Kryptonite. No = Stephen king’s tommyknockers!
But then it goes all multi-coloured like the northan lights and I wonder if she teleported to the arctic but no she time travelled to 1903 which means ….. WHAT? If others are around cool maybe she’ll meet past damon + Stefan …. Maybe even Katherine! (god please and tell how to avoid been erased) or if no one is around all that changes is the scenery
Then we see Tyler who is late and Matt stops him as Tyler is now drunk. And that’s it …. The scene was pointless. I guess I was right in the writers thread the writers forget tyler lol this scene is like “we forgot tyler! Quick add him!”
Is it wrong I want Klaus to show up like Angel did when Buffy’s mother died? But he has his own thing now I guess. Still I wanted it lol.
The funeral is great and I love they drew on the official police services. It makes it feel unique. Damon’s speech is really touching. I like this funeral it feels so much like the writers drew on everything. The fact she was a cop , damons friendship , the fact Caroline can sing. It’s really beautiful and I admit I got tears as I write this that was very well done.
Then tyler is sober …… that was fast! Matt is going to become a cop! Nice and Tyler might too …. YES! He finally has a purpose. Then Elena and Caroline hug as Bonnie trys to figure out where she is and yup …. Photo of Stefan and Damon.
With the flash backs I think I gave figured it out Bonnie is filmed seprate so they had a few past sets set up and used them I think. But bonnie runs as Kai trys to get all the powers. Then we see a woman …. Okay I don’t know who she is but I guess I will .
Kai whispers something and leaves it turns out Alaric got his Girlfriend pregnant and asks her to marry him and she says “no” Then he had a ring and she was all like “You liked it so you put a ring on it!” (not in those words lol) and she agrees.
Boom Stefan tells Damon it could be better! Snap! Then Stefan goes to kiss the girl.

Then tanks to what Damon said Caroline is going to turn it off. THANK YOU CAROLINE for pointing that out “Jeremy died you turned it of , Damon died you erased it” yet she was telling Caroline not too. However Caroline with no humanity could be interesting if when she turns it on she doesn’t become a worse character.
BONNIE IS BACK!

Damon sees Bonnie’s video and that woman was his mother.

I knew with all of the mentions she’d show up somewhere. I ****ing knew it!
But overall a great episode though I realised something in this one. Caroline was at home … but the home is in her name and she’s dead. In season 1 Logan Fell said he couldn’t enter his home as he lived alone ….. also Stefan and damon since their home was in Elena’s name ….. how am just realising this. My god this will bug me.
