In light of the fact that the Powers That Be have now stated their intention to be winding the story down and bringing it to a conclusion in the not too distant future, I thought it might be fun to have a discussion about it. What do we hope the ending of this series will be? (Where do we WANT all the characters will end up? Who do we WANT them to end up with?) What do we think will probably happen, whether for better or for worse? We know JP and KW came up with their "perfect ending" back in season 2, and that according to JP they are still on track with that ending (although there have been some possible changes made due to the show running longer than they expected). So what do we think their perfect ending might be, knowing JP and KW and the kind of stories they seem to like, and considering the tone and storyline that was taking place in season 2 when they came up with this idea ... what do we think they might have concocted?
Let's discuss!

Did they say they plan to end it soon? I don't remember that, just that it was being renewed for season 7 and I suppose that might be the end but that's kind of far off to predict.

Honestly if I was to guess I'd say some tragic awful ending would be right up JPs alley. She loves to make everyone cry. The cry scenes and the Stefan scenes are always her favorites so that isn't such good news. KW on the other hand loves Damon as a character but what they want to do with him is questionable. How about this. My worst nightmare ending would be with Damon pulling a Spike at the end to save the whole place and dying for good.

Gosh, so much could happen between now and then even if season 7 was the end - that's a whole season and a half. I think they said they don't know how long it will go on, but they crafted their perfect ending a long time ago. I would like to see: - No more turning human talk
- A happy Delena
- A grand tragedy that only Damon can save Elena from and it is so epic is seals their love forever
- I would like to see them introduce a completely new guy for Bonnie, because I want her to end happy in love but not from the current pool of suitors
- Matt needs a nice human girl he can settle down with and have a family with - come full circle from the beginning of the series where he wanted to do that with Elena and she wasn't ready to think about that with him.
- Maybe Caroline and Stefan if they could do it right, but for some reason, I want some new love interests in the mix.
- It would be cool for them to introduce some new kind of supernatural being. Maybe like something that we've seen on Supernatural but we haven't heard a lot about.

For some reason I just can't picture Bonnie ending up with a vampire. She's too against everything they stand for. She's come around a lot for the people she loves, but I can't really picture her spending her life with one. I don't know ... I feel like she needs a more human character. I could see her with a werewolf maybe, but not Tyler.

Did they say they plan to end it soon? I don't remember that, just that it was being renewed for season 7 and I suppose that might be the end but that's kind of far off to predict. This was the quote from JP that I was extrapolating from: “Over the course of the next few years, we will need to start having the characters make choices about what they want with their lives and [we will] say goodbye to some people. It’s all part of moving toward the end, however long that takes.”
It doesn't say it's ending next season or anything, but she's saying they are "moving towards the end". What I'm taking from that is that they are keeping the end in mind as they craft the story now, as apposed to thinking up ways to keep the story going forever. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it sounds like she's saying to me. That they are working on tying up storylines and finding their way towards the "perfect ending" that they have planned. Not necessarily right away, but in the near-ish future.

What I want for all the characters in the end:
I want Matt to become Sheriff someday, and get married and have a family. With a nice, but tough, human girl.
I want Bonnie to become a way more badass witch than Ester and pretty much rule the witch community, and maybe find a hot werewolf man to have werewitch babies with :-)
I want Stefan to own his darkness and become a healthy, nonself-loathing version of himself who actually has fun and can be honest with people. And honestly, I would have liked to see him end up with Katherine ... (don't hate me Steroline lovers), but since she's dead then maybe Caroline, if he works at becoming a guy who actually deserves her.
I want Caroline to travel the world, and have adventures, and epic love (again, don't hate me, but I was a Klaroline shipper, so part of me is still hoping she will end up with him in the end).
I want Tyler to die ... j/k, no I don't WANT him to die, but I wouldn't mind if he did die, in some epic fashion. Cause his character has become kind of useless without the hybrid thing or the Caroline relationship.
It would be kind of interesting if Jeremy realized he was gay or something. I feel like he just doesn't have the right chemistry with the women on the show. But maybe he could have something with a man? He's basically leaving anyways I guess, so it doesn't really matter. But it would be nice if he came back for the end and had settled into a nice relationship with a guy from his art school or something.
I would like to see Alaric get a happy ending, with a wife and some babies. And maintain his BFF status with Damon.
And I would like Elena and Damon to peace out of MF and travel the world together for the rest of time. They have too wild of spirits to really settle down and stay in one place. I think their happy ending would involve adventures across the globe together for centuries. "Our love is epic. Spanning years and continents ..." :-)
That's what I want.

You know as far as the ending where couples are concerned I'd be fine with just Delena being the established couple. Sure I like Steroline (also a bit of Beremy but that's over anyways) as well but it's really not a necessity in the long run whether it's endgame or not. On the other hand I'm way more invested in Delena as a whole. To me a Delena endgame represents the growth of character and story development.
As far as the characters go, it's a bit hard to say where you want most of them to end up when some of them don't get the focus that the main trio do. Some of them are just there and don't have straightforward goals to really root for.
Though I do like what mystic said about Matt's possible future. I can easily see him fitting into the sheriff role as he really just wants to protect people from all the crazy supernatural shenanigans out there. Matt surviving till the end and having a family is just a perfect end for him.
For Jeremy, he really fits into what I stated above. I can't think of what a good/perfect end for him would consist of as far as his character development goes. The typical being around friends/family while pursuing his art career and staying out of supernatural drama but coming to the rescue with his hunter abilities whenever he does have that instance or two when he witnesses someone in danger is all I can think of for Jeremy. Although I'm not sure whether his character will get an end (at least one we will be able to see. They could always do the whole letter sent by Jeremy saying what he's up to cliché).
Tyler, as long as the writers don't kill him for no reason at all lol. While not heavily invested in his character, I do like his presence amongst the gang. His character has the tendency to make me laugh from most of the things he says and he gets huge points for picking up on something being up with the whole Katlena situation until he was unfortunately caught. I don't think it necessarily matters whether he's a human or not in the end as even human characters can get things done with proper planning and not just running in all crazy amongst supes lol. I like that he's not really afraid of Kai or Liv's father at that. He hasn't gotten to a point where he's all, 'Crap I better kill someone and become a werewolf before I even try talking to these guys!' At least not yet, there's more coming up with the plot and he may not have a choice in the long run. I always felt he'd wind up turning again anyways.
With that said I liked what Tyler had going on with going to different wolf/hybrid tribes and helping them to get unsired and all that. If he becomes a wolf again, I'd like him to resume that role against. At least with wanting to give a helping hand to follow wolf tribes in general, not necessarily all having to do with being sired. Just being there as a leader when the situation calls.
Caroline's character has already underwent the necessary changes that I'd expected of her story/development wise. She's not as shallow as she was in previous seasons and has come around in regards to Damon/Delena and seeing Stefan as a human who isn't perfect and is capable of making mistakes like anyone else. Caroline seems to have a thing for putting together/organizing events so I don't know I could see her doing that for a living. But as a vampire you have forever so as Klaus suggested she could travel the world as well. Again I'm not really super invested in her romance arc in the sense that I'm absolutely gunning for her to be paired up. But if we are heading to the end and the writers plan to pair her up, with the current focus on her feelings and relationship with Stefan, I'm led to believe that's the direction the writers want her character to go in for potential romance. Otherwise it's just a waste of time and the writers should just hurry and get them back as friends and focus on who they do want her paired up with (if anyone in the end). If a character gets paired up at the end, it really shouldn't be, 'Huh? Why did these two end together? That came out of nowhere.' more, 'Oh I see. They did have all that focus in the later seasons and their dynamic has really grown.'
Stefan is a biggie. His character has so much potential if only the writers weren't so hung up on maintaining this good and bad brother theme and just let his character be. Again my wishes line up with mystic's. Stefan's character feels like he's still stuck as he was in the first season. Although a bit better. He still just needs to learn to stop running away from his problems and keeping secrets. He needs to first be able to love himself before he can be in any relationship and get rid of that tendency to run or change things when things don't go his way.
This came out a bit longer than I intended but these are my basic thoughts in regards to character endings. I'd also love the whole Delena traveling together as a couple to many different places. I alwyas love those endings where there's a time skip and it shows all the minor characters first and you're like all excited waiting to see what's become of the main character. It'd be so cool to see TVD zoom in on a road and we see a person lying dow and we just get the whole, 'Some things never change' type cliche lol. But yeah all I can as far as the ending is Delena endgame, don't have a particular preference to how it gets down but I don't fear that the writers will screw it up and have them end up together in some lame way haha.

Yeah, as far as romantic endings go, Delena is the only one I care to see pan out as endgame. I would like to see Matt settle down and have a family - if we see the development then cool, but if it is just a flash forward in the final epi, then I'd be fine with that too. When we met Matt, he had just broken up with Elena so we didn't see any off that. His relationship with Care lasted half a minute before she was turned and things got weird for them. Then he had Nadia but he was being manipulated through the whole thing. As the resident human, I would like to know that he finds happiness somehow because I think it must be really crazy that everyone in your inner circle is supernatural. As for Bonnie, other than Jeremy, who has she really been with? She met Luka which might have worked out if they weren't working for Elijah - maybe she should find another Warloc so they can do witchy-spell Friday nights I thought she would have been cute with Ben, had he not been a backstabbing newbie vampire. I like Beremy, but it's never lit me on fire - I'm luke warm on them. I agree about the vampire thing - she has been so anti-vamp since the beginning, it would be hard to see her settle down with one. The witches would really hate that! Unless, they used that storyline to bond the witches (nature's servants) with the vampires (an abomination of nature) in harmony. A balance if you will - the witches are all about a balance in the universe! As for Stefan, I always like him best when he has no humanity and is not so "broody". If you're going to have hero hair, you should rock it with the utmost confidence He needs to be more take charge, and less eating bunnies. He needs to stop "protecting" people because for Stefan that translates to lying about everything.

If TVD ends next year do you think they might pull an Angel? I.e keep Originals going and put a TVD character into that? I love my Enzo/Caroline but I could see Caroline moving to the originals to finally give Klaus/Caroline a real run

Especially Caroline. And I think Enzo could be fun amongst the originals as well. Jeremy and Bonnie could make appearances now and then, but I don't think they would work as main characters there. And I don't think any of the main trio would fit into that story.
But yeah, I would love love LOVE if Caroline at least ended up there. LOVE.

I would have said Enzo too but I want him with Caroline. If they did a Enzo/Caroline/Klaus triangle i dont think Enzo would live a whole season lol Klaus would kill him so bad. Yes others showing up would be great. I'd like Stefan. The reason is Klaus + Stefan were friends I'd love to see mr sheltered existence and stick in the mud go to New Orleans where vampires are more open , they party and Klaus is there. Their friendship would be so fun to watch in new area
