DAMON TRAVELS TO THE 1903 PRISON WORLD -- With the help of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Kai (guest star Chris Wood), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) set forth a plan to rescue Damon’s mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching), who is trapped in the 1903 prison world. Meanwhile, when Caroline's (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn’t quite go as planned when they realize they're outmaneuvered. Lastly, an unexpected gift from Bonnie leaves Damon shaken to his core. Joshua Butler directed the episode written by Neil Reynolds (#617). Original airdate 3/19/2015.

So sounds like Damon is working with Bonnie and Kai on his mom mystery - I wonder if he has to do it separately or if he can finally get them in the same room together. At least we'll get some Delena scenes this week, but it's going to be solving problems again, not sure how much of it will be taking steps towards their relationship.
Alaric and Enzo together huh. Well, ok I guess. Not sure where that came from - Ric's been gone like 3 episodes and Enzo has been so focused on Sara. Hopefully they can redeem Enzo in everyone's eyes and not make him so smarmy and annoying anymore.
As for the 'gift' Bonnie gives Damon, these stupid spoilers and synopses always hint at things that end up not being what we think. My theory is that Bonnie finds something that has to do with his mom, like something his mom left for him a long time ago and he never received it.

Yeah still not the slightest bit excited about this episode...ripper Mom is ruined for me and that was the only thing I was looking forward to. I wonder if I didn't watch for several episodes if anything would even change in the dynamic this season...I'm guessing not!

Yeah still not the slightest bit excited about this episode...ripper Mom is ruined for me and that was the only thing I was looking forward to. I wonder if I didn't watch for several episodes if anything would even change in the dynamic this season...I'm guessing not! Watching all the episodes in one go wouldn't be much of a bad idea actually! The worst part about these episodes is just the wait in between especially for episodes that have felt less than satisfying. In addition to that we're also actively in the fandom and have to endure the fandom drama in between and spoilers that sometimes exaggerate and make things worst than they are.
I can watch The Originals, The Flash, or Scandal and not feel so stressed afterwards because all I do is watch those shows on a week by week basis and I'm not in the fandoms at all so I don't see all the annoying wank that follows. And I know Scandal's fandom is just as bad as TVD's even more so since the triangle they have was something that just sort of happened down the seasons and wasn't the main advertisement of the show.
I don't have a DVR so I don't really have the luxury to stack up on episodes since me missing an episode due to bad timing/schedule has me going through the horrendous chore of tracking down links that have to be able to play through my Wii U's capabilities that's treated as a mobile (since I still have yet to get a new laptop) so yeah I try to catch live when I can since it's much easier. But binge watching has a lot of perks, no commericals and certainly no fandom wank in between lol.

Good point and true for me, too. I watch lots of other shows but I'm not involved with the fandoms at all and so there is no stress for me with those shows or worries about the nastiness in the fandom. It's too bad it isn't fun anymore because it used to be! I should deactivate my twitter and maybe I would see a lot less of it! |

I thought this episode was great. Lots of things going on and feels all around. I loved Steroline - this is the most invested that I've been in them. Their "nice" versions of themselves bored me. So sweet they gave me a toothache, Lol. But this whole thing was entertaining. I literally laughed out loud when Stefan got on his bike and it fell apart. And that sex scene after they fed on the student - wow. Mouth open for me. But oh Steroline, what's gonna happen when you come back to reality? Awkward!
Jo and Alaric are just so cute. They have great one liners between each other that just make me smile. Aside from their initial bump of Alaric not wanting to be with her because of his life, they haven't had any friction within their relationship. It's nice to see that with a couple for once. They just jump in to help everyone out and when they go home at night, they are happy together.
Enzo - thank the lord! TPTB have been listening to us! They have actually dropped that dumb version of the storyline and maybe, just maybe they can bring him back to how he used to be. Maybe when Caroline comes out of it and she feels weird being around Stefan, she'll run to Enzo for a while. I always liked their banter.
Kai! Say it ain't so! Awe, I felt bad for him. Bonnie was so mean. OK, I don't mind her taking a jab at him or saying some snarkey comments every once in a while, but over and over again - it just got old. I mean it makes sense why she did it all, she stabbed him and essentially left him for dead (because those vamps are there) and alone in that world so he could understand her pain, but it got to the point where I was like, OK I get it Bonnie, now leave him alone! And his face when they left - #poorkai #bringkaiback
Mama Salvatore! OK, that whole thing was great. Elena, trying to play perfect girlfriend meeting the mom for the first time, priceless. Damon being Damon not giving away too many feels. Damon protecting his baby brother the whole time was great. Now we understand why she left them - but I think there's still more to the story. Like who are those vamps really and if she brought them back to life would they really like her?
Bonnie and Damon - I appreciate that they brought them back to full on friend zone this time. The only thing that could come from this episode was her hand on his at the end and I'm sure Bamons will take that as far as they can.
Delena! Oh my! I loved all of their scenes together. They were so sincere with each other and Elena taking the picture back with her and trying to get him to open up about it all. "They have forever" - swoon. Then we got a hot makout session that was amazing - reminded me of the high school scene. And how Damon looked at Bonnie "This better be good," Lol.
And of course Bonnie brought back the gift that keeps on giving - even when you try to give it back. The cure. I hope it goes a completely different direction than last time, but at the very least, I hope it is somehow used in a way to trigger Elena's memories (without making her human of course). I need Delena to be forever and when TVD ends, I need to know that they WILL be together FOREVER.

This episode was great!! But I don't get one thing...the ascendant can't travel through time, so why didn't Kai use it to go right after Bonnie and the others??

Yeah the circumstances surrounding the cure has kind of been confusing as to whether it was the cure that caused Kat's death or Silas sucking the cure out of her (taking away the cure's magic and thus leaving her to age rapidly and die).
When Kat first took the cure at the beginning of the season she was pretty much fine till the Silas drama. One of our members who's rewatching mentioned a quote by Tessa to Kat stating that her aging was due to Silas sucking the cure out of her so guess that was our one line comfirmation, which can easily be forgotten a season later since no one suspected the writers would bring the cure back.
Though whether the show keeps to that mythos or changes things up is anyone's guess. So if we go with the assumption that the cure killed Katherine by making her age catch up to her, then the cure is only deadly to very old vampires. Newbie vamps like Elena and Caroline won't be affected by the aging since they've been a vampire for 1/2 years tops.

This episode was great as usual (still feels good saying that) but my thoughts
Damon loves his mother yet didn't want to free her as she's ripper. How did this make sense? Ok it allowed Elena to talk him to it "yay delena" or what ever but that's so ooc. Damon always does what he wants it's like his thing. Stefan as ripper he cant stop trying , Elena as a vampire ripper he tries , Katherine in a tomb (he thought) he tried. He always trys for people he loves. Yet kai says no and he's like "Oh ok I'll wait till my love interest talks me into it so our shippers feel validated" Dumbest part of whole episode to me.
The rest was great like I said. Love Caroline with humanity off + Always love stefan like that. Bonnie telling Damon "no!" made sense love Bonnies been strong again. Alaric + Enzo team up was fun. I love Enzo wants Stefan's humanity back just so stefan cares when he ****s with him, LOL love Enzo so much.
The mother + her group is interesting. I had doubts but they made it work. The actress pulled it off great I couldn't tell if she had humanity or was tricking them. But when she was like "these people are my family" woah harsh its not like Damon is your son or anything lol
Speaking of holy **** when Bonnie tried to betray Kai, it's great shes now defending herself. Love it though I was like "awwwww" when he disappeared lol I wanted her to as Mortal Kombat would say FINISH HIM! lol
Bonnie giving Damon the cure was great also.
