With all these breaks in the show I always go back and watch Delena scenes that I particularly liked so I thought maybe we should post some as we come across them so the rest of us can reminisce on what makes this couple so special to us. The moment my casual shipping of Delena became full on when I realized Elena really 'got' Damon and saw through his bristly exterior and then continued to break through it with a hug despite his attempts to push her away. I knew then that she was the girl for him. She would get through to him where everyone else had failed.:

The earliest moment in the series when we were shown that there was more to Damon than what Stefan thought there was. Elena is asleep and vulnerable. If Damon meant to harm her he certainly could have but instead he strokes her cheek gently. This would be followed by many of my favorite scenes of Damon showing up in her bedroom to talk to her. We later found out this was actually the second time he could have hurt her but didn't. The first being when he met her on the road the night of her parents deaths. :

The Dance THIS! This moment goes down as the one where Damon and Elena became Delena. When Stefan was trying not to go full ripper, Damon stepped in and shared a dance with Elena so she wouldn't be alone at Miss Mystic Falls and the look shared between them was so intense we felt it in our living rooms. youtu.be/hawaPZ3EfqA |
