OK....wow...that was one heartbreaking episode....but call me awful I loved Damon and how he tried to fix things any way he could...I'm sure we'll see how Damon messed everything up from the haters but screw them. I love badass Damon making a reappearance. Yes, I have lots to say about this episode, but right now too tired, lol! Of course everyone will blame Damon for all that went wrong - although his plan to help Liz did work!! Here's my question though - how the hell did Kai have more strength than Luke? The Mystic Falls magic was already drained out and all he had was the vampire magic that he sucked out of Liz. WTF? Am I the only one who thinks he should not have won that merge? But I guess they needed a way to keep Kai and since Luke is the least favorite of the twins, he picked the short straw. However, I will say that I liked Luke this episode and I wish they would have developed him a bit more. Then again, we wouldn't know which twin to root for because the two ladies are in relationships, lol. Yeah Luke earned some redemption points at the end...after all he's the reason Damon got stuck on the other side, but he seemed like a good guy and was trying to do right by the people he loved so I can't hate him too much for that...and now he's dead and I actually felt a little bad about that which doesn't happen to much for me on throw away characters so there ya go! |

Ok finished the episode. This one had me on edge. And not because of the lame twins. But I'll get to that. Liz broke my heart. Elena broke my heart. Damon broke my heart but most of all caroline broke my heart. I'm gonna be in massive tears when she dies. I cried tonight. I'm so glad that kai sucked the magic out. Speaking of sucking (no pun intended) since kai sucked out Liz's vampire Magic could he suck out Elena's compulsion? And could he perhaps suck out magic to turn human or is it like the magic barrier where you get your old injuries back and need saving? And where was Ric? The twins (yawn) I'm glad whatever his name died. I wish Liv would have too. Kai is cray cray as normal but now he's merged. Let's hope it's not a true twin merge and he still has to merge with Jo. Damon better not get blamed. It was a good plan. I'm sorry but Liz over the Gemini coven anyway! Who are these people and why should we care? DE. My beautiful DE. I loved them this episode and I loved Damons deep purple top on him too. He was extra fine tonight. Elena felt it too. And no kissing double in that scene. I slowed and froze the screen. I saw an attached ear lobe.  haha Next episode I feel horrible for Bon bon. It's time to bring her back! |

I really enjoyed this episode! But it also showed me how many different storylines we have going on right now because so many characters were not in it. First things first - Colin, the cancer guy. How the heck did he find Caroline? Did he walk all the way from Duke Medical? He like vamp sensed his way to Caroline’s house and he also knew her name? I don’t remember her saying her name and if she did, would she have said her last name? Anyways, the guy was in excruciating pain and wanted to die - why did no one think they should put the poor guy out of his misery after they figured out what was wrong? He’s got a terminal illness and can’t die? Uh, yeah he can, he’s not an Original. And thank you Damon for proving my point and just ending it. It was funny though (well, not funny haha, I’m not cruel) when he was trying to kill himself in the hospital, I was like ‘sure you can die, but that pole needs to be wood and you need to aim for the heart’, lol. Liv and Tyler - OK when did they get so serious? Up until now, they’ve had one real kiss, then we open their scene with them in bed. Yeah that’s believable. Usually, we get to see the first “love making” session, but I suppose no one is supposed to be that invested, we are just supposed to know they are serious. And let’s be real, sex between a witch and a human, probably not that interesting after all the vamp love we’ve seen. Sweet asked where Ric was, Elena said he was out getting some supernatural thing to give Jo an edge in the merge. Stefan and Elena’s convo - lol, Elena said what everyone was thinking. Uh maybe you should have waited a day. But she did rashly compel away her memories so he got her there. Liz - Tugged on the heartstrings! So when Kai sucked the magic out, where were the doctors when her machine started making noise? Aren’t the nurses and doctors supposed to come rushing when her machine starts crashing? And why did Damon have to compel a doctor to come save a dying patient’s life? Some of this stuff is so stupid. When she died I was like ‘no, no, no, Care didn’t get to say goodbye!’ That would have been too much for me. Also, when she saw Caroline in her dream all ripper style, I wonder if that was letting us know what her mental state would have been if she left Caroline at this point - thinking it was her fault and also not getting to say goodbye. Stefan’s mom - Knowing how his dad was, I bet his mom never died. Maybe his dad knew she was becoming a vampire or something else supernatural and because he loved her, he couldn’t kill her like the others so he sent her away instead. Or they will introduce someone that knew her (or of her) and she can tell us the real story of what happened her final days, maybe that’s where Lily Fell comes in? Twin merge - Luke got dressed for the occasion, haha. I knew what Luke was up to the second he left Liv, but II thought he was capable of winning the merge - which now that I think about it, if he did win, Luke would have more evil traits, but oh well. Their dad said the stronger twin will get traits of the other, so I’m thinking since they showed us the selfless side of Luke, maybe Kai will get a little softer. I’m not sure I want him to be redeemable though. How does everyone always know where people are going to be? Luke just shows up at the spot where they were merging? Follow the swirling winds I guess, lol. Ugh, my head hurts - too much over-analyzing. I’m in the school of thought with everyone else, Luke was much more like able this episode, but when he died I was like, well that’s that! I wonder how long they are going to be mad at Damon for letting Kai out. Will the fact that Luke merged with him to save the girls overshadow the fact that Damon’s plan helped save Liz’s life? I hope Ric doesn’t come back next week all pissed off because Jo is upset about the outcome. DELENA!! I loved the opening scene - her on her way out and him coming in with food and asking her out. Loved the whole thing. Ooh, I especially enjoyed when he talked about the date and we learn they’ve done that before - must have been that epic ‘Summer of Love’. Such good visuals of them as a couple. The final kiss, so good - although I feel like the chemistry feels are lower, maybe that’s just me, but I loved the scene regardless. I’m assuming she doesn’t get her memories back yet though, probably because we wanted and epic memory jolting kiss so they won’t give it to us, lol. |

Besides it would make Luke's sacrifice a waste, and I just feel like that would be a nasty thing to do. I actually liked Luke this whole season. Last season I hated him, but this season I really liked him. I mean, ok, maybe not REALLY liked him lol. But compared to his useless brat of a sister, yeah I liked him. He was one of the only people ever trying to do the right thing this season. For me, if they DID do the merge again I would say no question, Liv should die lol. I just really can't stand her, I think she's a terrible character. Plus I have absolutely no investment in her relationship with Tyler. Not only do I have no investment in the relationship, but it's actually making me dislike Tyler even more lol. I like Jo, even if she's kind of naïve and makes some bad decisions. She's a good person, and I LOVE Alaric, and I want him to get to be happy with someone. So yeah, Liv can die lol. But maybe that's just me :-) As for Kai winning the merge, I think it's because of his magic sucking power. Because their coven was afraid of him winning way back 20 years ago, and he didn't have any extra power then. I think he beat Luke because his sucking power is stronger than Luke's regular magic. That's the conclusion I came to about Kai's magic after I thought about it some more - he must have drained some of Luke's powers which put him on an even playing field and then he became stronger. |

Ok, so the episode. I liked this episode, although as usual these days there were things that made very little sense. Or, my personal favorite (and my boyfriend was the one to point this out while we were watching and I just had to laugh, because ... yeah) why did they not just cut Kai's head off while he was lying there unconscious after the merge? I mean, either way it's a win! If Luke had one he'd be dead anyways, and if Luke lost then you get rid of Kai! Bing Bang Boom. So dumb .... but whatever lol. That's just par for the course on this show nowadays I guess.
Anyways, stuff I liked. I liked Delena, obviously. Very cute with the date planning. And I like that she wanted it to be new for both of them, instead of him just redoing old dates. That was cute. Elena in general was good this episode actually. I love that she scolded Stefan for not being the rational one with the whole experiment thing. Because yeah, that was totally his fault. Caroline was stupid, but she was over emotional and, like she said, the control freak from hell lol. Stefan should have said, hey hold on a sec, we should really wait and make sure since your mother's LIFE hangs in the balance!! So yeah, he deserved to be told off for being such a moron. I wish he'd gotten more of a talking to really. But at least she said something. I also liked that she supported Damon in his dangerous and crazy idea to help Liz. Yeah, Elena did good this episode. And the kiss was lovely, very movie magic moment with the lighting and everything.
Stefan's story about his mother was interesting. Foreshadowing? Well I really hope they go more into that, because I love back story and we need more for our Salvatore boys. I did also like Stefan's support of Caroline this episode, they have a great bond. But as Somerhaldered said, I'm just not feeling the romantic vibe. They are too much in the friend zone. I don't know, we'll see. If they can bring a little romantic tension into their scenes, it might persuade me. But I'm just not feeling it right now. Wish I was.
I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of blowback on Damon for Luke's death, which sucks. Jo already blames him, so I'm sure everyone else will soon follow. I'm glad Alaric wasn't here for this episode, because it would have been really complicated. There were a bunch of people not in this episode though, which was weird. No Matt, no Jeremy, no Enzo, no Alaric ... Well, anyways.
That's all I got at the moment. Mostly a good episode, definitely action packed. Wish Liv had died instead of Luke. But Luke's death was more meaningful lol. Glad Kai's still around, even though I think Damon should have killed him while he was unconscious. Glad Delena is moving forward. Glad Liz isn't dead yet. Loved Damon and Liz in this episode too. Anyways, those are my basic reactions at the moment :-)

Good point about killing Kai after the merge, of course with us not knowing all of the details of the rules and such, they could say that if they both died, then the girls would have to merge because now they were back to no leader again. Then the Gemini Coven bloodline would cease to exist...gasp! Yeah, I totally backed Elena in this episode as well, and like you said, I'm glad when Damon showed up with Kai, she was just on board and they didn't show them arguing about his 'crazy plan'. Everyone else on the other hand....next week will tell. |
