I'm actually one of those few fans that like Matt/Caroline more than Forwood so I'm good with that end. Though I do find it hilarious how Caroline is so adamant that Elena be tied down to one guy (to the point where she asked Matt to back off) yet she herself seems to be getting around with everyone (Resuming her spot as Stefan's BFF, rekindling flame with Matt, and Klaus/Tyler thing). Hopefully now that the choice has been made for now Caroline will back off in that regard towards Elena and she can hang around who she wants without Caroline feeling threatened that someone is trying to move in on Elena and Stefan's relationship

Caroline is apparently Julie Plec's alter ego. Just saying...

I don't think Caroline was trying to tell Matt to back off because she was already "spoken for" but more so he doesn't get hurt and caught up in the middle of everything. Caroline knows Elena is all damsel in distress and whoever gets caught up can get hurt.
And Caroline had her opinion on who Elena should've been with, I don't see why that was all a big deal maybe because she is so persistent about it but what does it matter. Elena had a good head on her shoulders and was going to make the decision she wanted no matter who said what.

That's not really news for Matt at this point. Though they probably should have used a different choice of words because with the way she was playing 'bachelor' and then finding Matt and telling him she's 'spoken for' it came off in a different way to me. We already knew who Caroline was rooting for so it wasn't like hey what's the big deal or anything. It was the fact that she kept bringing it up all the time especially during those last few eps Caroline was like the constant reminder of the 'plot'. Maybe Caroline didn't think the head on her shoulders was that good since she was the one that had to convince Elena to take Stefan and remind her that he was her epic love. Everyone else also had their two cents in but it felt like Caroline's character was aware of the finale being the time limit or something. But season's over so now that the choice has been made I'm hoping that people can stop revolving themselves around Elena's love life and things can shift to another direction.

I don't think Elena has that good of a head on her shoulders and I think she IS heavily influenced by what other people think of her decisions. She's said as much in alot of different ways. But I suppose this is debate fodder if we wanted to debate it and could be discussed in the debate forum. At this point, I'm not that invested in the show any more to even bother with debating it.

It's about that time, "Vampire Diaries" fans. With just a few weeks to go before shooting resumes in Atlanta, the first Season 4 news is beginning to leak from Mystic Falls. This should go without saying, but -- if you're looking to be spoiler-free until the show returns in October, read no further. (Also, uh... good luck with that.)
Our merry gang of monsters and friends is about to grow a bit when a 16-year-old girl named April comes back to town. She's from Mystic Falls, so she remembers Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) from their childhood, but she's been away at private school for the last few years. She decides to move back to town after a death in the family, so when we first meet her, she's grieving. Perhaps some of our favorite characters can relate. While we're not sure yet whether she's got a hidden agenda, we can tell you that she's smarter than first impressions may convey.
Producers are also looking for someone slightly more threatening. (By slightly, we mean a whole freaking lot.) They're seeking a "scary hot" -- emphasis on scary -- actor to play the imposing Connor. He's described as a "highly trained killing machine," so, you know... nothing too out-of-the-ordinary for a Mystic Falls newcomer.
Both roles are recurring, and we can expect them to be pretty significant in the first part of the season.

So...April will be Jeremy's new interest? She's dealing with a loss, Jeremy's dealing with Alaric's, they're in the age range (what, Jeremy maybe a year older if that).
As for the former news, I'm kind of over/sick of Caroline at this point and it's not just the Damon hate from her, but in general with her character and interactions with others. The whole Matt/Tyler/Klaus thing has me shaking my head and now they're throwing some more Matt stuff her way? C'mon. Reading about her getting some face time with Stefan now is something I figure I can mute/go make a sandwich during. I'm just not interested in whatever Ms. Perfect Vampire has to say in that regards and what knowledge she'll pass down to Stefan on being a being a better Vampire nor do I want to hear Stefan's self-loathing/pity attitude either mixed in. How far she's fallen from her S2 self in my eyes.
And is there anything else on 'Connor'? Human/Council member? Supe? The 'highly trained' part leads me to believe 'Council/Human' and he'd probably suffice as a threat to the remaining gang members (Elena, Caroline, Tyler, Bonnie, Damon, Stefan) if he's adept at what he does but tossing him up against Elijah/Bekah/Kol would probably be ill-advised. If he's a supe, I'd hope it's something new and not just another older Vampire.

I was really hoping that if they played the 'childhood friend who's been away at private school' card that it would have been with Meredith. They could have introduced her at the appropriate age and even the grieving bit could fit in with her as in the books her grandpa was murdered by Klaus. Not too interested in April as of yet as she is probably just going to be Jeremy's new love interest. It just fits into the whole childhood friend fall in love theme. Hopefully they use her more than that as she isn't just a random person and is connected to two of the main characters in a way. Connor on the other hand I can already see him butting heads with Damon. Wonder what his back story is. I hope it has something to do with the council. Also 'scary hot' yes please

Connor is a 30-something, 'Navy SEAL' type according to E!. Don't know if that means actual experience or just a 'militaristic' attitude to go along with the 'highly skilled killing machine' bit (but they go hand in hand so...). They don't know if he's a Vampire though and I'm kind of hoping not. I'd kind of like to see them expand on the universe more, now that they're kind of putting the Originals behind them (or making them more the norm and pulling the story away from them). Would just like to see them splash some new color on the show. Expand on the Werewolves some more on top of exploring the Council.

That was the thing about the Originals. They brought in the top dogs of the Vampire species so it's going to be pretty hard for any new enemies, let alone vampires to top that. I hope he's a shapeshifter, then there's also the chance that he could be a human maybe some type of experiment and injected with something to give him inhuman abilities.

Completely on them at this point where they go with an antagonist. Bringing in the Originals so early (S2) is really a head scratcher. Not only that, they threw the Hybrids in there as well and they screwed the pooch with them cause they're throwaways. Hybrids should have been something entirely different from the Originals (an anomaly like Stefan is a Ripper) and should have just been 1, with the gang having to go all out to bring them down (without the whole Klaus is our bloodline baggage). They kind of made it worse with the 'Super' Original in the same freaking season with Alaric.
So now, going to the Council, although I'm looking forward to it, is a step down. Witches would probably be next on the power scale since one of their own created Vampires and then a super one afterwards just like that. From them, something we haven't seen or Demons/Angels would be the next step up.

NEW CHARACTER INFO
Pastor Young
Meet Mystic Falls newest bad guy, Pastor Young. According to Spoiler TV, while Pastor Young is a man of God, he also hates vampires. The new plot line is very "True Blood"-esque (think Steve Newlin and the Fellowship of the Sun), but the good news is that Pastor Young isn't a long term threat for the series.
The Examiner reports that while he "threatens Meredith that he will expose her use of vampire blood on her patients," and also kidnaps Damon to use a bait, the Pastor won't live past the season premiere.
April
April will make an appearance in episode two of the fourth season when she comes to Mystic Falls to attend the funeral of her father -- Pastor Young. Turns out April, 16, used to live in Mystic Falls, and is therefore familiar with some of its inhabitants. The teen has reportedly been away at private school the past few years, and while the death of her father has brought her back to town, it is currently unknown if she has ulterior motives. April is set to be a recurring character on the series.
SHE ALSO KNOWS JEREMY AND ELENA FROM HER CHILDHOOD AND SHARES MANY MEMORIES WITH JEREMY. SHE IS ALSO MORE INTELLIGENT THEN SHE SEEMS
Connor
Zap2It.com has used the term "scary hot" to describe new character Connor. The new Mystic Falls resident is reportedly a "highly trained killing machine."
Connor will waste no time getting into altercations with our favorite bad boys in town -- Damon and Tyler. The Examiner reports that Connor will not only threaten Damon with a "folder of notes," but he will also get into a pretty serious argument with Tyler over "the curse."
Like April, Connor will be a recurring character on "The Vampire Diaries." Here's hoping he is nothing like the Connor that appeared on fellow vampire show "Angel."
"[Connor] shows Damon a folder of notes he's been keeping and threatens Damon. Connor and Tyler argue over each of them having something that the other wants (knowledge of how a curse is triggered and the location of a particular stone)."
"The Vampire Diaries" returns to the CW on Thursday, October 11 at 8 PM..

So if I'm reading this right, the newest 'bad guy' lasts one episode and at that, kidnaps Damon...? And I'm guessing Connor wants to be a Werewolf, if the Curse runs in his family, but doesn't know how? If the 'Navy SEAL' background is true, I guess I can sort of see his appeal to wanting to go that route. One of the more interesting aspects/storylines I've liked about Werewolves is them having a military background and fitting right in with the whole pack nature (having lived with a squad/unit). In the Mercy Thompson books, Adam is ex-military (Vietnam) and runs a security company now, while being the local Alpha. I've always loved the movie 'Dog Soldiers' which goes with the military unit under attack/being outdone by Werewolves (the bipedal kind) in an isolated area. But if the above is the case, what 'Stone' are they talking about now? The Lockwoods were in possession of the Moonstone and protecting it so would it be absurd to think other Werewolf bloodlines were protecting other items of their own?
