In the video, Paul also admitted that he did not "buy" the ending of the season, and doesn't think it was believable that Stefan would let Elena die by saving only Matt. Being a vampire, Paul thinks that Stefan would be strong enough to take both Elena and Matt out of the sunken truck at the same time.
"I don't buy it, I'll be completely honest, the writers are probably going to be mad at me," Paul said, "I don't buy it, but it is what it is and so we have to live with it."
Just thought this was interesting since this is WHAT WE ALL SAID!!!!1 LOL

"The Vampire Diaries" continues to add to its cast of characters for Season 4. David Alpay, who is best known for his work on "The Borgais" and "The Tudors," is set to play a college professor who has a particular interest in the supernatural. As we shared last month, Professor Shane will share a particular connection with Bonnie when he first arrives in the fourth episode. TVGuide reveals that he knows her through her family, so we're hoping his introduction will open us up to a little more of Bonnie's background and family history.
No word yet on whether he'll be a love interest for any of the characters, but hey, look at that face. We'd be interested. Of course, Shane's not your usual college professor.
In Season 2, when Damon, Alaric, and Elena visited Isobel's offices at Duke University, we learned that Isobel had been doing some serious research on vampires as part of her studies. Let's just say that Shane has a lot in common with Elena's departed bio-mom.
Alpay will recur this season. His storyline will introduce us to the local university, which will help ease the show's transition into the post-high-school world after most of our favorites graduate in the spring.

"The Vampire Diaries" will return to Channel 6 in Tempe this fall, and now fans are being given more inside scoop on the upcoming season. On Tuesday, August 14, both TV Guide and TV Line shared new spoilers for the upcoming season. Check out the most recent photos of the cast promoting the series here. If you missed any of the previously released photos or spoilers for this series, go here.
A lot of season three dealt with the original vampires and where they came from, but there is more to the story and Esther's identity will play a part in that. Witches will continue to play a very important part on this series. TV Guide revealed the following about witches and what is next:
"The mythology of the witches hasn't been told completely. Executive producer Julie Plec explains what's left to uncover. 'To clarify what I said [at Comic-Con] ... when Esther used that spell to make her children immortal, which created the Original vampires, that spell existed already. So who wrote it? That's the question that will remain a question in this season and possibly in the series. We dabbled with the Original vampires, but who were truly the Original witches?'"

I'll bring this over from the DE spoiler thread. I generally don't bring these over since it's so DE specific.

I don't want to see her anymore but I don't mind a look at the history/lore of the series some more, specifically the Witches and since the spell already existed, who else has used it to make 'immortals'. Werewolves don't seem to carry the trait of immortality (they may be 'natural' supes) so I'd like to know if a few Witches created and used the immortality spell and it kind of got passed on or what. What was it's initial purpose in being created (a Coven of Witches that will oversee the 'balance' for all eternity?).

"Season Four begins with the knowledge that everything is in transition. Elena faces her worst nightmare when she awakens after the accident and finds she must now endure the terrifying transition to become a vampire—or face certain death. Stefan and Damon are torn even further apart over how to help Elena adjust to a life she never wanted, and everyone has to cope with the chaos Alaric created when he outed the vampires and their supporters to the Mystic Falls Council and local church leaders. Despite everything that has happened to them, as Elena and her friends enter into the final stretch of high school before graduation sends them off on different paths, they feel the bond to their home town of Mystic Falls take on a deeper meaning when a new mysterious villain is introduced who seems intent on destroying it."

I like that Bonnie is wanting to do her own thing but I can't help but fear that this 'save Elena' again thing she's getting into with wanting to stop the transition will sit her down to her usual role of helping everyone else when she's needed or that she falls into a storyline of spending most of the season looking to turn Elena back. Worst possible outcome outside of her dying IMO.
