That totally makes sense and I think they can do it because there's also a story going on in this series. I didn't like it so much at first as you can see from my posts, didn't like the contract and such but later on it got better.

I read book one in one weekend. Loved it. I started out picturing Ian Somerhalder as Christian but was also picturing Matt Bomer. I know he's gay but he seemed to fit the part of the deviant sex god LOL. After reading the whole series, I have to admit I agree with delena4eva. I was pretty tired of the inner goddess references but I still loved the series. Can't wait for the movie. I just hope they don't PG it to death. I'm not a triple X kind of person but I'm not a prude either and the sex is a big part of who Christian is at least in the beginning, so I'm hoping they can portray it in such a way that it doesn't become a porno flick but without loosing it all together. Does that make sense? Love Matt Bomer! I've heard rumors that the movie may only be aired on hbo because of all the sex. I think I would like the series more if it wasn't so repetitive with sex and inner goddesses and blah blah blah. I hated the ending too because it was too perfect like a fairy tale. I did enjoy book2 the most out of the 3

Doppelganger - I didn't like the contract part either and I was really hoping she wouldn't sign. I thought her argument of "how are you going to enforce such a contract" or something like that was good.
delena4eva - an HBO or some other pay tv channel would be a good idea. I really don't want it to be pg rated. There I go sounding like a perv again........LOL. But I'm sure it can be done so we see the lead up and they leave a little to the imagination I wouldn't mind anything so long as they don't make it PG.

Sorry so late. Been catching up because I went and saw 50 Shades on Thursday and was behind. (Still think Ian or Charlie should have been Christian but that guy did alright) To touch on this really quick, I read the books but haven't seen the movie yet - When I saw the previews I was thinking that guy didn't live up to my book version in my head. The way she described him was like every woman stops what they are doing and can't handle themselves around Christian because he is so handsome. To me, that guy was good looking but not someone I would drool over. That's just me....

I kept imagining Charlie at first since he was cast in the role, but I'll admit by the end of the movie, their version of Christian made inroads with me a little. At first I wasn't feeling the "manly man" dominant that was described but he actually got my attention towards the end. Now, the girl, who I really didn't think fit the part, I thought she did a great job. She was funny, shy but spoke her mind and had this vulnerability about her, so I bought her in the role quicker than Christian. But I actually enjoyed the movie for what it was. I still can't believe that book became a movie but I was pleasantly surprised. I mean, there were some pretty steamy scenes. Sorry for the off topic. But the funniest part was my friend who went with me still wasn't convinced about Christian but thought he did a decent job said to me, "I kept imagining that guy from Vampire Diaries. What's his name?" I was like "Oh, Ian," yes, we all were wishing it was him. She doesn't watch much of TVD but she started watching some this season since I hounded her for years. LOL

LOL So I didn't get too off topic in the other thread .... That's good to know that he did a good job. I could see Charlie for sure. What's funny is that just last week I was thinking about Ian in that role - I am almost at the end of Darker, so, still getting through the trilogy. When I finished the first one, I thought 'Well there's a book that can't be made into a movie", one week later, I saw the preview! Boy was I wrong, lol! I thought the look of the lead actress fit the bill for me, so that's cool that she fit the part as well. Alexis Bledel might have been good as well with her innocent, Gilmore girl look.

The way Ian looks in a suit is enough to convince me...but I'm glad he didn't do it in the end...

I just had to sneak in here to say I love Jamie Dornan! He did an amazing job as Christian Grey. If you have watched Once Upon A Time he's out Sheriff Graham who we all loved, adored and obsessed over!
I feel bad for jamie though because he got the news he would be Grey so late he had no time to prepare. He's a naturally thin-cut guy. He's not bulky at all. Had he had the time to prepare for the role in sure he would have done the protein thing and beefed up a bit. But I actually like thin-cut guys so he was perfect for me.
Charlie to me would have been terrible. He's not ugly at all but I don't see sophistication when I look at him. And although I love ian after watching the movie I don't think he should have been him either. Especially if we go by thinner cut guys. Ian is thin and he's cut!!!! This is why I love him.
Anyway I loved the movie! I loved the actors and I especially loved Dakota as ana. She killed her performance. No one else could play ana!
