That's just the sound of my heart shattering as my tumblr dashboard becomes a literal funeral home with all these quotes and heartfelt speeches of everyone's personal experiences and feelings with this six year long show and Nina's departure and the end of DE.
I really wish I could compel myself. It's starting to get a bit too much when you see this show through others eyes as well. People who state how this show and DE lifted them up in times of dark. People who still held onto hope only to be rewarded with this in the end.

I love Elena Gilbert, I do. But a lot of people already shared their opinion on why they don’t want a season 7 without Elena. I totally agree with everything I saw but I don’t think I’ve seen someone talk about the situation in a Damon stan’s POV. So let me share mine.
Damon Salvatore started out as TVD’s first ever villain.
He was ruthless and can kill without a second thought. He killed the coach right before Stefan’s eyes just to make a point. He turned Vicki Donovan into a vampire for amusement. His character was dark and mysterious. When he said the famous “hello, brother” line, I knew he was going to be my favorite character even if he ends up being the antagonist. It held impact. It’s the line we all know and remember even if you stan or hate Damon.
But he became way more interesting when he fell in love with Elena. Some may disagree, and that’s fine.
For me, we first saw the humanity and the goodness in Damon through Elena.
When he watched her sleep and touched her cheek in 1x03, we saw him gentle despite being called a ‘monster’. His first real act of heroism in the show was when he saved Elena in 1x11. That is also the first time we saw him be a friend to someone. The first time we saw Damon admit to being a class A jerk and apologize was during 1x22 when Elena convinced Bonnie to save his life. He knew that if it wasn’t for Elena, Bonnie wouldn’t have helped Stefan save him from the fire.
The point is, Damon’s character development was rooted on Elena. She’s not the only reason but she played a huge part.
Elena Gilbert turned the series’ first villain and become the hero and the show’s male lead. And the fact that they think they can continue to write his character without her is just downright disrespectful to their work and to their fans.

Also I see some people I follow on tumblr mentioning that Elena has already been taken off of CW promo headers or something on the official site even though the season has yet to be over.
The only thing I'm afraid of is if this is the start to erase Elena's character from the universe of TVD and to start the downplay of Damon's love for Elena by having him 'never really in love with Elena' or 'That it wasn't real love for him' or something along those lines. |

The power of the DE fandom to raise that show up can also send it crashing down. If they destroy Delena there will be a mass exodus of fans like they never saw before and frankly they can't afford to lose any more already. I'm not even sure how to look at things anymore when it comes to the rest of this season or the rest of the series if they plan to erase Delena in any way. |

Ugh it's going to be so hard to look at DE vids in the same way once we learn of their final fate when the season's over. Having a lot of DE songs like, 'All I Need' and 'Never Let Me Go' on your music player playlist certainly doesn't help the situation either!

Will they really gut this show though? Really? Because acting like Delena was never that important would be the same as ripping the heart out of TVD and letting the corpse fall...literally.

Yes and I only hope that whatever ambiguous/open ending that JP could possibly throw on us doesn't trick those few DE fans into thinking there's still hope and tune in for season 7 regardless.
A post on tumblr said as much, we've sort of been conditioned to accept all of this horrible treatment from JP and these media outlets, when it's us DE fans that have kept this show alive. We continually get trends on twitter, win every poll there is on the internet, countless physical awards, or how some have said that other media promotions have used/highlighted DE as their inspiration yet are there ever any articles that shine light on all these achievements? It's only ever the bad parts of this fandom that get acknowledged. Only DE fans that get called out on their bad behavior (instances where JP would pick out a DE hate tweet to highlight and make it seem like only DE fans are senseless and send countless hate to her).
We've been treated so horrible by this fandom. Honestly we're not supposed to feel like this while watching a favorite TV show of ours! This makes no freaking sense for an executive producer to be this horrible to her fanbase and cares less for the story of the characters that she's telling. I really wish TVD was leaving with our departures of this season and not go on to become a train wreck and embarrassment. A part of me wants it to run straight into the ground and yet a part of me did love this show and never wanted it to become this ugly thing that will simply be a laughing stock, the joke of future shows/fans. I'm sure there will be, 'Well I hope this triangle isn't as bad as TVD's one' in the future. The writers could have ended TVD when it was at it's all time high with development that made sense! This has just been one huge disappointment.
