So this is a debate for the Klaus lovers and haters. Personally I LOVE Klaus. Problem is that he comes across as a heartless murderer a lot of the time. And during the conversation Klaus and Damon were having in the cellar I very strongly disagreed with Damon. Damon said that Klaus kills for no reason and/or "to be a d*ck". In my opinion, Klaus definitely does not kill for no reason.
Okay so flashback time. Klaus was 1) killed by his own father, 2) hunted by his father for, what, like at least 500 years (im not really sure), 3)and has apparently never really been loved. My point is that Klaus has been through SO much pain in his life, that he has developed a superiority complex (when one feels inferior, but covers it up by acting superior). After all, he is one of the most powerful creatures on the planet (maybe besides witches), and i'm sure, given his sense of pride he gets from his family, that he would not like to feel inferior to others and be in so much pain (nobody likes it). So basically Klaus is a first rate bully. Furthermore, the problem is not that people dont see that he is a bully, its that they ONLY see him as that. but let me tell you something, when Kol died, i didnt just cry because he was burning alive right before our eyes, i cried because of Klaus. He had to watch his own BROTHER die right in front of him, and I mean his face! He was crying! and that shows that under all of that cover up he really does care and that he loved his brother. And every once in a while we get to see that part of Klaus that strives so hard for happiness and peace, but can never have it...
I think the thing that bothered me the most about the conversation between Klaus and Damon, is that while people in real life (im talking about fans like us) either hate Klaus or love him. My problem is that NO ONE on the show likes him at all! i mean NOBODY. like not even his siblings, when the writers know very well that there are a lot of fans who really like Klaus. Lately, i've been feeling the writers care more about THEIR show and a lot less about keeping their audience happy...

Ok I'm trying to understand your viewpoint but it's very hard for me. Yes Klaus had a horrible up bringing and was dealt a bad card but so are allot of people. That's not an excuse for every time your sibling does or says something you don't like you dagger them. Especially Rebekah who has stood by his side through and through. She is not his toy that he can have around until he feels she is getting in the way of his other toys so he daggers her. He may love his siblings but my gosh does he treat them like crap, especially Rebekah. When it comes to Klaus and Bek's I will always defend her.
And sorry Damon had it right. He does kill without reason and to be a d*ck. Jenna. Did he have to turn Jenna and then kill her right in front of Elena? I mean was there a shortage of vampire somewhere? He surely was able to turn an entire bar into Vamps for Jeremy so why did he do that to Elena. AND Elena watched it! Right in front of her the last link to her mother GONE. Isabel, did he have to make her take her daylight ring off right in front of Elena? So Elena gets to watch her biological mother burn into ashes right in front of her face. And then we have Carol. He drowned Carol who was a defenseless drunk woman in a fountain. For what? I mean he killed all the hybrids already. To show Tyler who was boss? And now look at him trying to get redemption for it because he loves Caroline.
Call me heartless but Klaus got not one tear from my eyes after last weeks episode. Is it sad that Kol died? Yes! Very. I didn't like that Kol was dead. But do I care that it hurt Klaus. Not at all. The pain he felt was for Jenna, Isabel, Carol, Katherine (who he slaughtered her entire family) and some might even conclude Alaric.
I think the writers are finally making him what he was always supposed to be. THE BIG BAD! For awhile there I almost forgot with the horses and hummingbirds and all.

Hardly anyone is completely heartless but we have to look at the overall picture of what we see of him thus far and thus far he has done most of what he's done for his own selfish reasons or for revenge or power. gahhhh! whoever said that arguments are tiering was right...i want to convince you of my point, but your morality is killing me...
but really, almost all of the things that damon did that you listed were really for himself or for no reason other than being bored... HOWEVER, now that i think about it i have loved damon this whole show, maybe not so much in season 4(i dont like anybody in season 4 though so...), but i saw the same thing in Damon before that i see in Klaus now...

There's really only one thing I can say to this and that is that even some serial killers love their mothers. Hardly anyone is completely heartless but we have to look at the overall picture of what we see of him thus far and thus far he has done most of what he's done for his own selfish reasons or for revenge or power. I see no redeeming reasons for the things he's done. So i find that looking at the overall picture of Klaus is the WRONG thing to do when evaluating him. Ok so when Klaus first came on to the show i was absolutely terrified of him and hated him like you guys do. but the thing is, since then, i, personally, have seen Klaus in somewhat of a turnover or change. i do believe people can change, and yes he has done HORRIBLE things, i am not denying it. But i do believe in second chances if he is willing to do what it takes, and i think he will eventually be. |

Wow this is a really controversial topic (i didnt realize how many people hated klaus soo much) and as i said b4 trying to discuss morality between these two is killing the argument
Ok so my final point (cause if i continue to read these hate posts i think i might cry) is STOP DEBATING WHAT THEY HAVE DONE THATS NOT WHAT THIS SHOULD BE ABOUT
TALK ABOUT HOW THEY CAN BE FORGIVEN OR AT LEAST MOVE FORWARD

Ok one more thing cause i cant help myself
ok so first off all this discussion is not about what he has done. Its about WHY he is the way he is.
So first thing: there is ALWAYS a reason for why someone is like this. Now most of the time humans are not born serial killers, and if they are they are probably mentally deficiant in some way. Now klais is clearly not mentally deficiant and there is clearly an emotional connection/reason for what he does. Now i realized what i am really trying to say. I am not forgiving Klaus at the moment. But i think he is and has been VERY emtionally troubled for a very long time, and though i am not forgiving him at the moment, i think he needs to get his act together, becuasee i see his sadness and his pain (its there and if you dont see it you are in denial) and if he can confront it instead of burying inside himslef and turning it into rage and agression then i think he could b on the path to forgivness and i think that he can get there

The original poster I'm sorry you felt your thread turned into this. I guess I can't debate this bc of the long list of comparing Damon deeds to klaus in any form. It's like a slap in the face as a Damon lover to have to defend your favorite character to klaus!!! Stefan fine lets go but klaus? Klaus is the bad guy! He was meant to be the bad guy! He doesn't deserve Caroline! I'm sorry if someone likes klaus but he is the villain! I hated spike on Buffy for a long time until he changed so I'm not saying there is no hope! But my point is its not fair to debate Damon against klaus. It's just not and if we can't see that collectively as a group then yes Stefan would be brought into. I would never compare klaus to Stefan! As much stuff as Stefan has done wrong he isn't klaus. It's just not a fair comparison and that is why I brought Stefan and klaus's relationship into it bc there has to be a reason why klaus picks on Damon but sees no wrong in Stefan. It's just honestly not a fair debate topic. Compare klaus to Silus. They are the big bads. My poor Damon. Lol yep I said it my poor baby. Lol I think he needs a hug. I'll volunteer to do it! It was sort of a combined thread and maybe I mistook that her idea might have been slightly different than Ruby's when I combined them. They seemed pretty much in the same vein when I saw the two original threads pop up as they were discussing the same scene but maybe another thread titled, Can Klaus be Redeemed might be more in line with what she was thinking. |

Klaus has a long road to redemption. He can get there if he wants. Maybe in his new show klaus will be an anti hero. Who knows. |
