I'd estimate they've been dating for about a month now, well since whenever he got back from all his trips. There was a lot pointing to him being with her when she was 4 wheeling...his picture out in the woods, him getting spotted putting gas in a gas can (for the 4 wheelers?), her dog with Nie at his house, him being seen at a restaurant in Atlanta with 'that Twilight girl.' So while she was filming in Atlanta, they were hanging out together and possibly dating. Now she's back in LA and he's been flying out there a lot to see her.

The Vampire Diaries’ star Nina Dobrev has had a hard time winning over fans since her split with her extremely popular co-star Ian Somerhalder. Rumor has it one of the many reasons Nina and Ian went their separate ways was because Somerhalder was tired of his girlfriend’s inflated ego and diva behavior. Ian has always been well known for his participation in charities and volunteering for needy causes, so it was really only a matter of time before he got sick of her selfish ways.
Ironically, the same day that Ian Somerhalder was spotted in Los Angeles with new love interest Nikki Reed, Nina Dobrev did probably one of the most selfish and greedy things we could have ever expected. The Vampire Diaries actress has been on her social media accounts all day promoting her live Q&A session which she will be hosting from TVD set at 8:00 PM tonight. Ready for the catch? She is charging her own fans $5 to watch the live show.
Nina has never had a reputation for being sweet or kind, but charging your fans $5 to watch you live online… is ridiculous. It sounds like something the money-hungry Kardashian Family would do. Her fans are the reason she has become such a success, instead of thanking them for helping her achieve everything she has, she is profiting off from them. There is no way in hell I will be paying $5 to watch Nina Dobrev online, but I can gurantee you the session will be shorter than the amount of time it took you to figure out how to buy the tickets, and she won’t answer any of the questions fans really want to know … like how she feels about Ian’s new girlfriend Nikki Reed.

When it comes to celebrity gossip, you can read almost anything into cryptic Instagram posts from celebrities to suit the juicy story you want.
In this case, though, it really does make you think.
With Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed dating, all eyes are on the actor's on-off love Nina Dobrev for any signs of a reaction. Her first comment?
Not something you would consider positive.
Nina Poem
“I give / You take / I break / You fake PITY / I bleed / You dive in deep / Into my blood / Thick as syrup / Tell me / Are you a mosquito?” Dobrev posts.
It goes without saying that this is not necessarily about Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed, neither of whom are mentioned or hinted at in the text.
It's also not an uplifting poem, however.
Considering that The Vampire Diaries cast members dated for three years in relative secrecy, and he's apparently going public with a new girl now?
Could be a lot for a young star to take in.
If you want to overanalyze the Instagram poetry, Ian is in her blood after dating her for so long, and his actions could very well be draining her blood.
Almost like a mosquito, one could say.

"I give, you take" is also a common refrain for those in couples who split, as one party often feels that they cared more about the romance than the other.
Inside sources say that Ian and Nikki kept their exes' “feelings close as they work on their decisions to start an exclusive relationship together."
At the same time, Nina Dobrev “hasn’t been told anything” by them, but “she reads celebrity gossip like the rest of us so she will know soon enough.”
If you want to interpret her Instagram feed a certain way, she already knows, and isn't exactly thrilled by her ex moving on with the Twilight beauty.
Should make for good times on the set for Nina and Ian! Maybe they'll channel the angst and make you actually want to watch The Vampire Diaries again.
Last season? Not that good. Just saying.

But honestly I can't help but wonder if she's being passive aggressive with these posts she's making. They are quite negative and different than her usual upbeat posts and the timing of that can't be a coincidence can it? I do remember last summer...and no matter how 'over' someone a person is it's still hard to see them with someone else, but honestly I don't feel the least bit sorry for her after all the 'in your face' stuff she did to him. That had to hurt! At this point he gave his heartbreak plenty of time to heal so I'm happy for him.

Needless to say this has gotten into a war on Twitter between the Nina/Nian fans and the Ian fans who are happy for him...sigh Somehow they think we should feel bad for Nina and angry at Ian. Have they forgotten who moved on first? Have they forgotten it's been 14 months since they split up?

Oh no she didn't! Nina liked this quote apparently...this is so not good. Why can't she get on with her life? Oh I know, because she'll never find anyone like Mr. Somerhalder again! She can search the world but she'll never have it so good as she did with him...just my humble opinion. Nor sure if I should reactivate the Nian thread for this latest round of punches. They're only one way punches but they always were.:

The girl needs to take her earnings from webcast and hire a decent publicist. I questioned initially Ian's decision to go public with dating Nikki at same time Nina's Nylon article appeared but he gave decent quotes to mag so he did right by Nina. And then she puts all this out there? Hard for me to keep giving her passes... I hope he is happy!!

I started out as a Damon fan bc he is so awesome on the show, but in the last year or so (likely longer) became an Ian fan because he is so awesome. When you think about it, only A-list celebs become UN ambassadors but he was named one because of his authenticity. Meanwhile like we predicted, Nina gets in invited to Coachella. I don't want to pit them against each other and choose a side bc that seems juvenile. But I find myself doing it anyway because of her posts. She just said on mag interview she does not want to be negative and then after public news her ex is dating someone new posts the only really negative things she has posted all year? Smh

I think he is happy with Nikki. I don't think he'd risk putting it out there if he didn't think it was going to last but you never know. I also think he thought he might as well get it over with quick so there isn't all the 'are they dating' crap forever and ever and that's probably a smart move on his part because even though it's a big deal right now it will blow over soon enough.
