I just love them both. So I won't speculate too much, but this isn't one of those cases to me where the woman is heartbroken and staying home waiting for the phone to ring and Ian is the guy out with his pals drinking and going to strip clubs, lol. But I agree, Nina is only and been with Ian 3 years. I think she may have wanted to slow things down a bit and Ian, being 34 might have frightened her with getting married or something. It's funny how she's hanging with Julianne, also 24, who recently broke up with a much older Ryan Seacrest. It seems both girls have a lot in common.
But I hope Nina realizes fast that good men are hard, hard to find. I should know. From all accounts, Ian is a sweet, decent, gorgeous, humble humanitarian but also has that bad boy look. He's everything wrapped into one. So if she is wanting to take a break, she's probably going to miss him really quick considering what she's losing. Ten years difference doesn't mean too much if it's 30s and 40s but sometimes when a girl is only in her 20s she's not thinking of marriage yet.
Either way, I love them both and wish them well and I hope they work it out before S5 starts. Maybe a summer apart will do them good.

There was pics of them leaving a hotel in NY early May. I saw them! I'm not 100% convinced that all is over. I'm just not. And I love NINA so please don't get me wrong but when I see her all happy then I see Ian all wrecked it kinda strikes my nerves. Not saying she isn't a crying mess at home but DAMN IT IT'S IAN!!!! I'm not taking sides but DAMN IT IT'S IAN! lol I feel the same way and I'm trying not to judge because we don't know the story. He may be completely to blame or maybe neither is to blame, they just grew apart. Who knows? |

I really don't know why I care so much either, Charlotte and gang. And of course we don't know what goes on behind closed doors with any couple, but my thoughts seem to run to the break up coming from Nina. She is young and they have been together three years, it was time to, pardon the expression, piss or get off the pot. I don't know how anyone could keep up with Ian and all his causes and maybe she wanted to be that person but she just needs to sew her wild oats first, as Dopple says. Agreed if the age difference occured when they were in their 30's and 40's no big deal...but this is a big time for growth and self expression and discovery for Nina. She looked pretty stressed out being around his family from the pics that were posted here. She looked tired and she was smoking and you could tell by her face she just didn't want to be there. I don't know...none of us do, it just seems like this is coming from her. I hope Ian will be okay. Now that Damon is finally happy, Ian may not be.  |

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev reportedly called it quits last week after three years of dating. The two Vampire Diaries stars reunited at the CW Upfronts on May 16 for the first time since the news of their split. While they walked the red carpet separately and generally kept their distance from one another, a source tells E! News the former couple are still very much friends.
“There’s no bad blood between them,” said the insider of Ian and Nina.
The source added there was no blowout fight or cheating involved in Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev’s breakup. The relationship ended primarily because 24-year-old Nina wasn’t quite ready to settle down with 34-year-old Ian, said the insider.
“They still talk daily,” continued the source. “This wasn’t something out of the blue.”
We’re glad (and relieved, frankly) to hear Ian and Nina are still friendly! It makes the prospect of them filming scenes together for The Vampire Diaries Season 5 seem much less uncomfortable. And lord knows, there will probably be a ton of Delena scenes for Ian and Nina to film next season.

It's sooooo hard not to wanna go up to Nina and say "what the HELL are you thinking woman"? I don't wanna take sides at all. =( But it is looking more and more like this was Nina not Ian and that makes me really sad and I'm trying not to be but a little annoyed. This sucks.

Is she crazy? Like I sort of thought it sounds like that ten years difference in age might have become the problem. I think Ian is finally ready to settle down and she isn't and he's 34 so he's not going to wait forever and he certainly doesn't have to. There's plenty of women who would be happy to take her place. We don't really even know if this is true either but from the behavior we have seen from the two of them it sure seems the most plausible explanation. Who knows, she could come around, too. I mean she might think the grass is greener (though I don't know how) and then she'll find out she made a huge mistake and they'll get back together stronger than ever. Let's just hope for her sake it isn't too late when she does.

But man, that would suck to have to do those scenes if you're still hurting. |

I loved that they were together in real life and they were adorable. It made DE's dynamic even better I think in certain scenes. But I'm scared because I was a HUGE OTH fan and Brucas was my ship. What Chad did to Sophia ended brucas and that cant happen here. I still think the woman is crazy though. I dream about Ian. Even though I'm married. HAHA You never know until you are in that relationship but still damn it it's IAN! lol |

Well we've heard several versions of why they broke up so I guess we'll never know for certain but I just hope they are not sad for long and that they can work together without any problem for Delena's sake. After all this time we've waited for it I hope it doesn't get messed up by this.

BRUCAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! me and Sarah are still bitter, hurt and crying over them not being endgame. I don't care what anyone says and how Leyton started, they set up "signs" of meant to be for Brucas and it was so going that direction because the chemistry was on fire and to me Leyton was like brother and sister plus I didn't like Peyton much for what she did to Brooke. I think like TVD, Stelena were supposed to be soulmates and endgame, but the actors chemistry said another story.
With that said, I can't blame Sophia for the way they broke up for not being able to do mushy lovey dovey scenes. The fight scene at the end of S3 was after their breakup and you could see how hurt she was in that scene. How sad. So as long as Nian's breakup is more like they're saying, hopefully the professionalism can stay on par because as much as I love people to date in real life, Brucas is my reason why it scares me so much.

Well, I am going to be very angry at Nina for saying she wouldn't date costars because she's professional if she dates one anyway and cant remain professional (even though as she said you cant always help who you want, idc).
Like I said, I have every faith in their professionalism until I am proven otherwise. I know theyll be able to perform their scenes because I know they probably still have a lot of chemistry even if theyre having problems irl.
Ian seems very mature and Nina seems to care about having a professional image as well as having a good career with the show and elsewhere.
I'm also not unconvinced they're on some kind of break because of their separate projects, etc.
There is also a difference between going through a divorce and not going through a divorce as well, even if they were together a while (as was the case with Chad and Sophia right?).

I will be veryn very upset if we dont see many hot scenes or what not next season after waiting 4 years then they suddenly take a left turn toward Stelena again because they cant be professional or whatever. Ill probably stop shipping all together, especially if I find out theyre dating irl. It will he be too upsetting.

My NIAN heart is breaking - and yet still hopeful. Here is what I think happened: Ian got a movie as he just tweeted he will be "living" in UK (his words, not mine.) Please be 50 Shades, please be 50 shades. So when you look at the schedule Doppel posted in Ian thread, he was going to be very very busy regardless. Nina is in Atlanta this summer filming a movie. Do they stay together, and endure rumors of infidelity, etc., or just take a break, knowing they will be back at TVD in a few months. This would explain why Ian seemed down and tense, along with his hectic schedule, and Nina less so. Ian is older and knows that things can fall apart quickly. She is still wearing that ring on her right hand, and he has been funny/sexy/sweet talking at Brussels event about ELEPHANT EARS and his privates and Nina, because he still loves her and she still loves him. It would also explain the article that said they talk lately.
