It was pretty funny getting that one random scene with Elena and Tyler in season 4 (since they hardly had scenes together since the season 2 plot of the werewolf/moonstone) so immediately you just knew the sire bond would be brought up. I still love that scene all for Tyler's reaction lol.
Though even when Tyler said this it still got ignored by the fandom and they were still hellbent on thinking it was the sire bond, as was the characters as well. Season 4 was just a very frustrating and annoying season. And I realize this is way off topic lol.

To be fair on Tyler he didn't say love. Tyler said grateful like he was grateful to Klaus as he no longer had to turn. So she could have been grateful she was alive or grateful she was a vampire or anything .... However it was the love yes i 100% say it was love but tyler was not saying love (sorry Tyaus shippers lol) Technically, Tyler said the bond affects "how you act, not how you feel". Obviously in his case and the other wolves, it wasn't love it was gratitude, but in Elena's case it was her beginning feelings of love that were heightened. The witch in NOLA is where we got further explanation - a vampire only bonds when she has human feelings before she turns. Vampirism only heightens them. Basically, the bond didn't make her love Damon, it had nothing to do with her feelings, only that she did what he asked her to.

I think it had to be 'strong' feelings is how the witch explained it and I had my doubts along the way, too, because I knew she 'cared' about Damon because that was all she ever admitted to but how much did she care? Was it enough to create the sire bond and all that sort of thing we discussed at the time. I'm sure it was put there just to make us all wonder but now we know that she did love him in season 3. The writers purposely kept it pretty ambiguous though at the time. But the sire bond wasn't going to 'create' love that didn't already exist and I think that was the thing people were misunderstanding about Elena loving Damon while sired. Some Stelenas argued that being a vampire 'heightened' her feelings for Damon to a point that they exceeded how she felt about Stefan but that made no sense because all her feelings would have been heightened including how she felt about Stefan. In the end though people ignored what was being said that she had to have pre-existing feelings and that the sire bond doesn't change your feelings so it can't make you love someone that you don't. It just makes you obedient to that person. That's why Damon had to be very careful what he told her after he knew because she'd obey whatever he told her to do. The writers were also very careful not to make it Damon's idea when they made love but that didn't stop the antis from saying he used the sire bond to have sex with her. I hated that storyline by the way...LOL

Not cause I hate the couple I just hated their releationship once together of nothing but forced angst and no real IMO happy period. As it feels like right after sire bond was done , death , mind wipe. I hate that lol

It frustrated the crap out of people like me that just wanted to see some times of them being together without some issue/gimmick/problem to ruin it and it doesn't look like we will ever get that now after waiting as long as we have and you wonder why some DE fans are a tad bit angry and showing it in the social media. It's not surprising to me. Some are going about it all wrong but I do understand why they are so upset.

I wanted to see that too. I felt like the idea in my head was 1000x better than what they were like as I wanted to see them together not forced reasons they cant be. It was offpointing and made we go from Pro-delena to Anti-delena which i hate been i wanted them to make me pro again
