So, we talked a bit about the possibility of Bonkai when Kai was still in the prison world but as things progressed he seemed hopelessly psycho and not suited to be in a relationship with anyone at all, let alone Bonnie. HOWEVER...now we have a different scenario. Kai has absorbed Luke and in doing so, he has attained the parts he needed to go from psycho to having a conscience which is the big missing piece in a sociopath. So, what do you all think? I am seeing a definite interest from his end regarding Bonnie. Maybe it's just a 'like' right now. Maybe he's just sort of fascinated with her 'goodness' but they really did sort of dwell upon how hard he was trying to help the gang and it couldn't have been just for their sakes. He has to care about Bonnie himself to try as hard as he did. So now that sort of breathes new life into the possibility of Bonkai and brings new meaning to Bonnie's dismissing of Kai as a psycho and unredeemable. He may well be redeemable now. There's very little to go on for this pairing YET, but really just as much as a Bamon pairing possibility, maybe more since there isn't a 5 season background of dislike going on between these two and he isn't a guy deeply in love with someone else who happens to be her best friend. That leaves a lot to be explored with Bonkai and a green light to do it. If Kai continues to help try to get Bonnie back she will be surprised and most likely grateful for his help. I guess we shall see where this leads.
I wanted to put it in debates because I know there may be a lot of people dead set against it and I still want to hear from you as to why you think it will never work. After Damon the most popular choice for Bonnie right now is Kai in polls and if Kai continues to be an improved version of himself that may well make a big difference. It's almost genius how these writers said they would have an unredeemable villain, and they did, but they had this sneaky plan up their sleeve...lol Besides I like Chris Wood and would like to see him stick around for a bit. He's funny and cute as heck when he does that grin...lol

I'm totally onboard with Bonkai. I think its an awesome idea. I would absolutely love to see how that would work itself out. Because it would take some very creative and interesting writing to make it believable, but the potential is totally there! I really really hope that they at least explore the possibility.

Yeah I mean I find it interesting which I can't say I have on any other of Bonnie's prospective ships...so for me at least it would make things interesting for me. I was half kidding the first time around about Bonkai but now there's a whole new potential there.

Both of them being witches is a plus for me. I could see them practicing spells together or in dire situations Bonnie convinces him to help out with a big spell or something.
It's certainly an interesting dynamic. I wonder what the writers have in store next for Kai though now that he's merged since he was the big bad of the season.

I totally love the idea of BonKai. I was on board before, but then I realized he was a complete sociopath and not good for Bon Bon. But NOW, well, it's a different story, lol. He's totally cute and I think I would love seeing them banter a bit back and forth as he tried to woo her and gain her affection. Plus I love that they are both witches. Even though he is a Parker and the Bennetts are the ones who locked him up (meaning the witchy spirits might not approve), there is potential for this to work. This is the first person I can really ship Bonnie with - everyone else I've been luke warm or not interested.

I'm still iffy. I don't know. He has one of the twins hearts. Whats that guys name again? Eric? Who knows. Anyway he may be redeemed somewhat but it's not like he ate random people. He literally carved up his whole family. He's nuts! But he's also adorable in a crazy way. I love the actor. He's amazing. If they do it right there is a possibility. I mean they made Klaus fall for Care and she slept with him even after he killed Tyler's mom. And he drew pretty horses. LOL
This is why I wont watch TO. Klaus is laughable.

LOL, Eric...who knows I love Kai and the way Chris portrays him. Maybe it's me wanting him to stick around and I think it'd be interesting to see him in a relationship. Not to mention, I'd like to see Bonnie in a spicy relationship too

How would they have sex? I'm thinking it would be pretty fifty shades. I think Kai would love to push Bonnie's limits. Pain wise. HAHAHAHAHAHA

I would love to hear Damon's nicknames for Team Witch if Bonnie and Kai got together...that would make it worth it all by itself!

I think Kai shot his own self in the foot when his anger got the better of him and he grabbed onto Bonnie. It certainly didn't help his case that he was trying to show Bonnie he changed. That felt like the last straw for Bonnie.
Though some things that I don't necessarily know if it's been addressed is if Bonnie knows that Kai has merged with Luke. Which in essence makes him a different Kai from the pathological liar that she roomed with before. Does she know that the only reason she was able to get that message from Damon to head to Nova Scotia was because Kai sent the three of them there and ultimately even with serious wounds, sending Jeremy that ultimately saved her life?
These are things that constantly bug me with TVD's writings. When characters don't get the full story or other characters who know the full story but don't tell it to certain characters and misunderstandings just spiral out of control and cause more drama.
Of course I think ultimately Kai's fate was sealed by outside forces anyways with the whole thing of JP using the actor for another show of hers so he had to get rid of someway and there likely weren't any plans to ever have him and Bonnie get to a common place of understanding. It would have been interesting to see a build up to a situation where Bonnie would ultimately how to work with Kai in the finale as a matter of life and death for her own survival/or her friends either way.

When Damon called her to ask for her to meet with Kai, he mentioned "as you know, when Kai merged with Luke he morphed from an evil psychopath to a friendly caterpillar to a slightly less evil butterfly..." something along those lines. So she knows about the merge because she said anyone who believes him is an idiot (basically), but I'm not sure she knows that he's been helping Damon with the other things. She probably wouldn't care either. I get that she was upset with him for grabbing her, but I was like - so what? She had been ignoring him and he has been trying to apologize for days. Anyone would have done that, like shut up and listen to me already! But then again, I sort of have a soft spot for Kai and I really don't know why. So I'd probably be in trouble if I were with him in real life, lol.

He crossed a line with Bonnie that she just wasn't about to forgive. It seems like her mind was already set on leaving Kai in the prison world. I also just realized that it was also what Damon meant with that quote about an answer to her prayers or something along those lines.
Though it was odd that Kai's disappearance never got mentioned again. No, 'Where's Kai?' or something as they're starting up the spell. They just sort of took off. Though I guess it was more of Kai having to be left there since he's leaving the show anyways and this was a way to get rid of him.
I do have to admit it was sad seeing Kai being left this time around given the state he was in and his boohoo crying made it a bit worst!
