I just now finally watched the Christmas Glee episode and was disappointed. It definitely wasn't as good as last year's Glee Christmas episode.

I thought the Christmas episode was total crap.

The treatment of Rachel's character alone made me wanna slap the writers. I actually wrote a long tumblr post about it the other day because so many people were saying that Rachel had a bad attitude about Christmas.

Basically they tried to pretend like she was this materialistic skank. Finn even called her Kim Kardashian. WTF. She is ambitious. Not materialistic. She's never once made a big deal out of people giving her gifts or anything of the sort.

I wont say too much about the religious message, other than as a non-religious person I find it disturbing that they would put this idea out there that people are selfish until they hear a bible story.

The black & white Christmas special was a DISASTER. The only good thing about it was Rachel's spot on Judy Garland impression. Otherwise it was an epic fail. They also butchered "My Favorite Things" I'll die saying that should have been a hummelberry duet... Mercedes and Blaine turned it into a pop song. Which is just WRONG.

The fact that they cut out scenes that actually advanced the plot, and edited the crap out of Lea's first solo all season for that mess just makes me so mad. Not to mention cutting Santana's "Santa Baby" all together as well as the Klaine ring exchange. I can't help but feel like they didn't want to touch upon the gay issues during a Christmas episode. I've lost A LOT of respect for the new writers & Matthew Morrison (Who directed it)

End rant... sorry, I REALLY hated that episode. Which was a first for me. Glee is one of my favorite shows of all time.

I completely agree with you on how they butchered Rachel's character in this episode. She has had so much growth in the past 2 seasons, and I felt they took it all away in one episode. And isn't Rachel suppose to be Jewish? I'm confused now.

I also have not been liking Artie's character lately. He seems a little full of himself now that he is directing.

The only parts I like in this episode was Puck and Finn singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," and the end when they finally showed up to help at the homeless shelter.

I wouldn't really say she was reverted back to her season one personality. She's never cared about stuff... She just wanted all the solos and spotlight. Material things were NEVER ONCE important to her before that craptastic episode.

And yeah... she's Jewish.... So. Why did she have a list of Christmas gifts anyway?? It made no sense. This episode had some of the laziest writers in history.

I've never really been the biggest Artie fan. I don't hate him, but I'm far from loving him. I always thought he was too hard on Tina after she told him she faked her stutter. Then of course there was the whole thing with Brittany last year.

Also, I wish they could have found a time to play TPG's Lindsay and Alex's "Do You Hear What I Hear" Other than River (Which I don't really consider to be a christmas song) It was the best xmas song on the album.

Wow this thread is so old haha, the last post was made like three years ago. I almost thought there wasn't a Glee thread at first but then decided to check.

Anyways it's funny how Glee's last season isn't taking itself too seriously, and glad I never took it that seriously as well lol. Sue suddenly being so obsessed with Klaine, it's so crazy and hilarious haha. I know there are a lot of Gleeks out there a bit frustrated with what they're doing. Some Klaine fans think they're making fun of the shippers and stuff. Like Sue shouldn't be able to have a poster of Klaine's first kiss since that was a private moment lol.

At this point it's all water under the bridge for me! It's so liberating to go into the final season of a show and not really care how it ends either way as far as the pairings go.

Didn't get to see much of the new guys in New Directions this episode though can't wait to see their first performance!

Favorite songs of the episode were Sue singing, 'Bitch' (so unexpected I couldn't stop smiling and laughing through it. Loved it!) and Rachel and Sam's duet of 'A Thousand Miles' (I'm a sucker for male and female singing one song together as well as a guy singing a cover that was done initially be female so yep loved it! lol)

I agree, it is so refreshing to not take something so seriously and worry about who ends up with who or who ends up doing what. I am just watching for entertainment purposes now and I feel like since it is coming to an end, I should see it through, lol. I believe this season is a short one as well and is only half as many episodes than they normally do per season.

You'll have some fun binge watching these eps haha! As you mentioned I'm also watching for entertainment purposes! If we took this show as seriously as we do TVD, we'd be ranting for days! There's so much inconsistency and craziness with Glee and its characters and I can easily see myself getting mad over things if I gave a hoot lol.

Every character in Glee has dated every character in Glee at this point and they break up over the stupidest things or dumb plotlines. I'm glad I never had a real attachment to any of the pairings and sort of just took them as they came. Glee doesn't even seem like it takes it's pairings seriously either, they break the fourth wall so many times by outright saying the ship name and there was even a moment, maybe season 3 I forgot, with Finn and Rachel at the prom and him outright telling Rachel, 'We're endgame!' or something. It was so funny to hear that word in the show haha.

Anyways yeah I saw people on tumblr mentioning the shorter season as well and it's kind of a shame. I mean the newbies for this season are waaayyyyy more fun, engaging, and interesting than the season 4 newbies. These new kids are actually their own person and personalities instead of season 4 which tried to imitate the old Glee cast mates and triangles. Marley - Rachel, Jake - Puck, Unique - Mercedes, Ryder - Finn etc.

So it sucks that we only get half a season with them, I wish these new kids were introduced in season 4!

wow here i was thinking this was a newly made thread until i read the bottom comments saying its 100 years old hahaha yeah glee was such a good show. any one else ship britany and blaine during the very last season when rachel was getting a tv series and the writer made them a couple. i always wanted blaine to be straight back when he first met kurt i was hoping blaine would hook up with quin or britany in the last season when she becomes a more dominent character.

Haha yeah definitely an interesting dynamic! With Glee I'm pretty much cool with all the pairings lol
