You're right about Rachel being a surrogate and Jesse being oh so okay with it. I mean it's understandable but at the same time there's absolutely no connection between Jesse and Klaine. To Jesse it's like who are these guys and why go through all this effort for them? If this was Sam it would have made a lot more sense, we know his bond with Klaine and the Glee club and I could see him being okay and excited with Rachel being Klaine's surrogate mother.
Though in the end as you said this something we can easily blow off as eh whatever. It's surprising not seeing Sam end up with either Samchel or Samcedes though lol. It's more hilarious than anything, especially knowing how these two fandoms were at each other's throats and were so sure of endgame respectively with all the 'hints' and whatnot. Glee is just Glee haha. There's no deep context of scrutinizing and analyzing every scene for hidden meanings since most things get dropped at a hat or laughed/written off as a joke by Glee's own characters sometimes haha. Exactly, he had no connection with them. "Oh ok, that's cool, but I can't wait for this to be over so we can get started on our own little ones." Weird. Awe Sam - now that you mention that, when they kept focusing on Sam during Mercedes' goodbye speech on stage, I thought they were going to take it there again. I really wanted Sam to be happy with someone after all he's been through. I mean they touched on it a little because the gang mentioned that he had ANOTHER new girlfriend - then Mercedes said "well why is he always texting me!" All of those hints made me believe they were getting back together. Oh well, lol.

All of those hints made me believe they were getting back together. Oh well, lol. A bit unrelated but I just finished watching a movie on Lifetime called The Surrogacy Trap about a married couple who thought they found the perfect surrogate but she winded up being delusion and crazy, wanting to keep the baby and kept breaking in the house/stalking the couple to get to the baby and she also wanted the husband for herself so she could complete her image of a family. Haha just found that movie airing being such a coincidence after seeing Glee lol. And yeah there definitely seems to be some window of opportunity for Samcedes, unfortunately offscreen. Still don't get why it had a stop and go format as far as its development went. But I promised myself that I wouldn't be nitpicky and so I'm a-okay with the writing haha.

So I didn't watch the episode until yesterday, which is why I'm getting to this a little late lol. Anyways, so, Glee is over guys. And as much as I hate to admit it, I'm pretty sad about it lol. And I cried A LOT during that finale. Like way more than I expected. During the whole 2009 section it was really sad because I just kept thinking about Finn and feeling so sad that he wasn't there. And then they showed the Don't Stop Believing scene, and .... well, I lost it lol. I was just balling like a baby lol. Seeing him and Rachel so happy together ... ugh, it was a punch to the gut. But I loved it. I was so glad they put that in there. I really wanted to see him one more time.
So, ok, things I was disappointed in: I was disappointed that Quinn and Puck were not featured in either of the episodes. I was glad they at least showed up in the last number, but I was definitely disappointed that that was all there was. Puck was always my favorite male singer from the original cast, and I really wanted to get to hear him sing again. But also I like Puck and Quinn's story and I would have liked a little mention at least of where they were and how they were doing in the flash forward section. Also Britney and Santana, I wanted to see how they were too. So that was disappointing. Also disappointed that we didn't get to see Marley and Jake. I think I got a glimpse of Jake in the last number, but only barely, and I didn't see Marley at all. And they were 2 of my favorite singers. I know most people didn't like the new kids for those middle seasons, but I actually did. I was disappointed we didn't get to find out how they were doing or know anything about them. I was a little surprised, I'll say, that Sam took over the Glee club. I don't know if I'm disappointed by that exactly or not. I mean its sort of nice I guess, but it was kind of strange. Also I think because I know that was what they had planned for Finn ... I think it bothered me a little. But not the end of the world. Sue becoming VP was just ridiculous. But whatever lol. And lastly, I wanted way more singing lol. Like I was kind of hoping it would practically be an opera and that there would be almost no talking. I wanted them to fit as many songs in there as possible, because they're never going to do anymore ever again and that makes me so sad. But they did some good ones, so that eased the pain a little lol.
Ok, onto the good. I liked the way it was structured and that we got to see a little of some of the main character's futures. I loved the whole 2009 section, it was so nostalgic. I'm not sure I like that Tina and Artie were together, but I suppose its nice in a way. It's nice they had someone. I loved that Will became the principal and McKinley became an arts school. That was really beautiful, and satisfying. And I'm really glad Rachel won a Tony. After 6 years of everyone talking about what a star she was going to be, I have to admit that that was one of the most disappointing parts of the last season for me. Rachel totally carpet bombing her career like that was so beyond stupid, it made my teeth ache lol. So I'm really glad they turned her future around. All in all, I really enjoyed the finale and I'm so glad it didn't end terribly. And I am going to miss the show.
Now, about Rachel's love life. I'm going to talk about that in a separate post because this is getting reeeeally long lol.

ok, so, I actually feel totally different about how things worked out for Rachel than you guys do. Obviously everyone wanted her to have a happy ending with Finn. But there was nothing to be done about that. Tragic and terrible, and frustrating for sure. But out of everyone's hands. And I am a person who kind of compulsively needs happy endings to stories, wherever possible. So I definitely did not want her to end up alone at the end of the story after everything she had been through. Also, I just didn't feel Sam and Rachel. He's just so ... dumb lol. I mean Rachel is no rocket scientist, but she was definitely more intelligent than Sam. And, I don't know, I just didn't really feel any chemistry. And even though there was some build up in this season with them, there was none the entire rest of the series. So it had felt totally out of left field to me in the first place. Also when they had Sam take over the Glee club, at that point I was like, "Ok, well if they make Rachel end up with him now its just plain wrong," because that would have been the ending he had planned with Finn, and to just stick Sam in there instead just isn't ok to me. So I am totally ok with them not being together. Actually I'm more than ok with it. I was genuinely glad.
Because here's the thing. I actually really like her with Jessie. I always did. As much as I loved her and Finn, there was always a part of me that kind of thought she should end up with Jessie. They understand each other better. They make more sense together. They want the same things out of life. And they make beautiful music together! Realistically speaking, Rachel would never have truly been happy with someone who didn't share her same passions in life. So I think she and Jessie make perfect sense. And this whole season actually I kept thinking, why haven't they brought Jessie back?? He's the best person for Rachel to end up with. So I was actually thrilled when he showed up in the second to last episode. And I'm really happy that they ended up together.
One of you mentioned how she could easily have met someone new and ended up with them. And yeah, in the real world sure, I agree. But when it comes to TV shows, I hate when they have main characters end up with total strangers in the end of the story. Because it doesn't mean anything to me. I want to know the people and be able to imagine what their lives would be like. So even though I wasn't on board with Sam and Rachel, I would have rather she ended up with him than with a total stranger. Just because I'd rather know and care about the guy. But I am honestly really glad she ended up with Jessie. I think it was perfect.
That's just my feelings on things here at the end. I'm glad I had you guys to talk to about it too! All my friends abandoned ship a couple seasons ago lol. So thanks for sharing the ending with me :-)

Haha yeah I'm the opposite in that I never really clicked with Jesse's character lol. Though I felt I would have been more satisfied/acceptable of St. Berry if the writers had actually capitalized on Jesse's relationship with Rachel since his character had matured over from when he was in Vocal Adrenaline.
Since Jesse seems to be well versed in Broadway as well, I don't see why in season 5 that was all about New York, Rachel couldn't have run into Jesse somewhere and got back in touch with him. If they were going with Jesse in the end then all those scenes of Sam and Rachel getting more emotionally attached to the point where they did end up having sex with each other, was just a waste of ink and that should have been scenes better spent with developing Jesse and Rachel's relationship.
It just felt like a waste of time with all the Samchel stuff being shoved in our faces late season. I think what also makes it a bit more frustrating with me on Samchel not being endgame is the fact that Samcedes got pushed aside for Samchel, only for it to not happen anyways lol. In the early scenes of Samchel we get Sam turning down a date with Rachel because he said he was still in love with Mercedes. But despite that Samchel kept getting more focus and Mercedes ended up being turned into a cupid to make the relationship happen which felt a bit odd to me. But I figured that Samchel was likely being built up to endgame with the sudden random focus it got in season 6 but nope lol.
So not only did Samchel not happen, Samcedes got shot down on the boat with it.
I guess to me Rachel ending up with Jesse was almost the same as her ending up with someone random since we never really got to experience a bit more scenes between the two. As I mentioned before, if Rachel had accepted the part where she was playing the female lead against his male one, I could understand how the two would have got even closer. They're both Broadway stars so there is a connection of shared interests, at the same time I don't feel that Rachel would only truly be happy with someone that's in her line of career.
With the ending being initially planned for Finchel, if she was with Finn, he would have been just a normal average teacher back in Ohio compared to her reputation as a Broadway star. A part of me would have liked to see Rachel in the lights of the audience/crowds of Broadway but come home to a less than average husband (obviously not in looks but just in career type lol).
But all in all her ending up with Jesse is not something that makes me go, 'Grr this ending sucks!' or anything haha. There just wasn't any emotional or satisfying attachments to her calling Jesse her husband. I still don't get the whole surrogate arrangement and the timeline of them being married. I think in the case of St. Berry, it would have made more sense if they just went ahead and made it Rachel and Jesse's baby. If Rachel had ended up with Sam, the Klaine surrogate would be a bit more understandable and less odd in the context of relationships. Sam's actually close with Kurt and Blaine while Jesse isn't. What's the rush for Klaine to be parents anyways? lol

Yeah, I totally get that thought. I honestly only slightly remember Rachel and Jesse together although I think I liked them, lol. I would have to go back and re-watch those (if I cared enough to), it was so long ago.
I didn't want her to end up with Sam - I didn't feel the chemistry there either. I like them as best friends. I feel like maybe she and Jesse should have just been engaged though at that point since she was being a surrogate. The reason I mentioned maybe she could have met someone else is because it annoys me a little that everyone ended up with someone from high school. Like Artie and Tina wasn't necessary to me, and I'm ok if there are new people because it is five years in the future. Sometimes it seems forced. But since Rachel is the lead character, we do need to have closure about who she ended up with since it wasn't Finn so knowing the person does make it better.
The whole Sue thing, I was like whatever, haha. So unreal.
Yes, I was looking for Puck the whole time and when I finally saw him I was like, what? That's it?! Boo. There just wasn't enough time to let us know about everything! But yeah, it was good to have people to discuss with cause I don't know who else was still watching, lol!

Wait so Sue was really the vice president? Haha. I thought that was just in her imagination or something oh well. Also didn't realize that Tina and Artie were officially together. I thought they were just sort of being shown like how Mercedes was. Maybe there's other things that I might have skimmed over and not really got lol.

Yeah, Sue was really the VP, and running for president lol. Completely ridiculous, but whatever. And they showed Tina and Artie kissing at the end, so I take that to mean they are together. And I agree that its kinda silly. Especially because he treated her really badly when they were together. But whatever lol.

And both of you mentioned the lack of Jessie in the and not really caring much about that relationship, which I totally get. When he was introduced he was kind of Glee's version of an anti hero type. So there was a lot not to like. I think the problem was they set him up as though he and Rachel could have been end game. Like if Jessie had stayed on the show, and they hadn't made Finn and Rachel the IT couple, then the building blocks were there for it to be Jessie she ended up with in the end. If they had actually focused on it, and shown their relationship develop more. He starts out being a spy for Rachel's birth mom, pretending to like her. But then he actually falls for her. It's classic romantic archetype! But the problem was they wanted Finn and Rachel to be end game, so they did an about face and turned Jessie into a villain kind of. Which I always thought was really stupid. And the couple of times they brought him back you could tell that they had kind of regretted that decision because they kept trying to make him make amends for his past blunders. Also I think part of the reason why they didn't bring him back sooner was that Leah Michelle wasn't ready to have romance be a part of her story yet, after Cory. I remember reading an interview where people were asking if she was going to find love again and they said they were partially leaving the decision up to Leah because they wanted to wait until she was ready.
Anyways, obviously no one could have known what would happen to Cory. So its very unfortunate for the sake of the show that Finn and Rachel were the focus. And honestly, even though I loved them, I always thought there was a little unlikeliness of them actually working out. They were just so different. I just can't picture how it could have really worked, with him teaching in Lima and her on Broadway. So in a way that was never an ideal to me. Before he died I actually kind of assumed they would do some kind of "The Way We Were" ending for them and have her be alone, and I didn't like that. Like I said, I like happy endings lol.
As for the surrogacy, yeah that was weird. And yeah I don't really see any husband being too thrilled about that. But I guess my thing with that is, well, it's Glee! lol. How often in the last 6 years has this show ever really made that much sense or been realistic? I just can't take it seriously really, or my brain will explode lol. I mean if you want to talk realistic, most of the things that have happened on this show would never ever really happen. So yeah, in the real world, someone like Jessie would probably NOT be supportive of her choice to do that. And also, Klaine seem like the kind of couple that would have actually wanted to adopt, rather than choose surrogacy. I feel like they just threw that in there as, like Rachel said, "a full circle decision" because that's how SHE was born. But it's kind of dumb all in all. On every level really. But, like I said, it's Glee lol.
Anyways, I guess basically what I'm saying is that I pretty much agree with everything you guys said lol. But I'm just looking at it from a different angle I think. I can see how, in a different timeline if people had made different choices with the story, Jessie and Rachel could have been the big love story, if they had developed it. So I guess I'm glad they made the best of a bad situation and had her end up with him. But I totally get why you guys feel differently :-)

Wow I don't know where my mind was in that scene but I don't remember that happening at all lol. Where did it show that scene? Did it get full focus or was shown in the background for a few seconds? Again not sure where my mind was at the time lol.
Though to add on to Tartie I thought they were waiting till they were like thirty to take each other up on their offer. Either way I'm with you on that while Tartie was cute in the beginning, it felt like their characters changed a bit too much on the radar for each other to be together again.
But funny thing I just remembered. Remember how we were all mentioning the final number and spotting old members and whatnot and it seemed like everyone was there. You mentioned not seeing Jake or Marley (I don't remember seeing them either). But before your post about those missing members I talked to my cousin yesterday about the Glee finale and that final number having old members back and whatnot and said basically everyone was there.

Haha yeah I get what you mean about the type of love story Jesse and Rachel had set up for them. I actually love those type of stories where someone sets out for a certain someone as a spy or whatever and in the ends up falling for them.
Though I do feel the writers put all their eggs in one basket. Of course as you said they couldn't have predicted Cory dying. I'm not sure if Jesse's actor was possibly a part of another TV show or something at the time and wasn't able to fit in his schedule but I still feel like it was a missed opportunity for when Rachel went to New York, that random guy she got in a love interest with could have easily been Jesse lol.
Anyways I sort of learned my lesson with not taking Glee's romance storylines seriously when they built up Samcedes in season 3 for it to be completely dropped by season 4, Sam moving on to Brittney and literally no mention of Mercedes and Sam ever being together.
Though even before that there were some things with the romance that was just grating in terms of writing. I was a Finchel fan, not really hardcore, but just liked it. And there were some Finchel storylines that got really annoying. There was so many back and forth with Finn, Rachel, and Quinn. It felt like whenever Finn was with Quinn, he wanted Rachel. And then when we braved those storylines of him breaking away from Quinn and finally being with Rachel. He wanted Quinn again. It was so annoying lol.
I don't remember what season it was, probably 2, when Sam's character was just getting introduced (I agree he's certainly got dumb over the years haha. When he first premiered on the show he was all cute and adorable and now he's just been turned into a playboy). One of my favorite duets was Quinn and Sam singing the song by Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz, 'Lucky'.
Then Sam and Quinn got together. And of course that's when Finn decides he wants to be back with Quinn again.
Finchel had other weird storylines like when Finn randomly kisses Emma and then there's that whole drama with Will and Shue over it and it's like what?
The romance stories were always just a bit crazy and after a while I stopped caring logically. Every Glee club member has been with every other Glee club member (I even remember when Mercedes and Puck was a thing and Santana had it in for her over it and we got that duet of, 'The Boy is Mine'. Which I also liked that number haha).
They always break up the Glee club members and sometimes for stupid reasons, most of them randomly cheat for no reason at all (what Jake did with Marley still made no sense as to why and all the while Ryder wouldn't buy a clue that Marley was not interested and still kept trying to be romantic with her).
Though with only 13 eps to work with this season, the planning process had to be a bit easier overall of what they expected at the end. I just wish they could have done more and spared us some of the unnecessary time spent on a couple that went nowhere. I didn't realize you were also a Samcedes shipper haha. We could have had St. Berry and Samcedes at the end. To capitalize on an old meme, 'We could have had it allllllll!!!!!' haha.

Yes, Mike Chang was there! I remember looking for him and the second I said, "what, no Mike?" He popped up on screen, lol. I don't remember seeing Ryder or Marley, but I BRIEFLY saw Jake though. Oh and about Sue - that whole interview with Jeraldo was where they touched on it - that was real. Real and ridiculous, haha.

I know right?? lol I know, this show's romantic tangles have been so ridiculous. It's hard to get invested at all lol. Let's make a list, shall we? lol Tina has been with Artie, then Mike, then she had a creepy stalker crush on Blaine, and then she made out with Sam ... Artie was with Tina, and sort of dated Becky a little bit, and then Britney, and then Sugar, and then ... Kitty? I forget if there was someone else in between Sugar and Kitty lol. And then he was a little man whore in New York and got himself some STDs. And then he ended up with Tina ... Santana was with Puck, and then slept with Finn, and then dated Sam, and all the while fooling around with Britney, and then slept with Quinn (so weird), and then that waitress she was working with, and then back to Britney. Quinn was with Finn, slept with Puck, then was kind of with Puck, then dated Sam, then back to Finn, then that guy Jo, and then the guy from college, and then back to Puck. Sam was with Santana, then Quinn, then Mercedes, then Britney, then made out with Tina, then back to Mercedes, then Rachel ... Rachel made out with Finn, then made out with Puck, then dated Finn for 5 minutes, then went to Jessie, then back to Finn, then sort of Jessie again, then Finn again, then that guy in New York, then Finn again, then Sam, and then back to Jessie. Really the only ones who didn't screw all over the map were Kurt and Blaine lol.
Such a ridiculous show lol. But the music was wonderful, and some of the romances were fun, and I'm glad we can laugh about it now lol.
