I finally saw the show last night on the cw website and i thought the show was amazing. I remember a while back they said Brady would play the main role. I prefer him better as oliver queen hehe. The show is pretty good and reminds me a bit of a young batman. Rich (check) Big mansion (check) Batcave (check) gadgets (check) what else lol

Batman kind of pisses me off. He's got his own gallery of villains to deal with that are in the crime boss category (Joker, Two Face, Scarecrow, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, etc.) and he gets quite a bit of trouble from them or can't keep them in prison for whatever reason but he crosses over to the Justice League stuff with the villains from Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, etc. who are super-powered or advanced aliens and he can hold his own/is usually the smartest of the bunch in the group? But he has trouble with basically 'chicken scratch' villains in comparison?
Like I've mentioned, DC isn't my strong suit in comics but this annoys me about Batman. I watched one of the animated movies they did where he has a contingency plan for all his teammates in case they go 'rogue' (evil) and I'm just kind of baffled. He has plans in place to bring down all these essentially 'god' level heroes (heroes that some people consider 'broken') but...you see where I'm going with this? A millionaire playboy who can bring down Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, etc.?
Anyways, now that that rant is out of the way, I'm hoping that the success of Arrow leads to a few other shows for DC. SyFy is supposed to be doing Booster Gold, I know a Wonder Woman show was in the works a year or two ago but I think that's sunk (Joss Whedon I think at one point was writing for a WW show/movie but he's tied up with Marvel now after the Avengers) but I think that's it. DC really needs to do more stand alone stuff that doesn't include Supes or Batman. Their movies and animated stuff seem to solely revolve around Supes, Batman and JL. I'm surprised Green Arrow got his own show instead of them turning this into a 'young Batman' (Nightwing for instance).

Hey hey, don't dis on my Batman. He's my favorite of favoritist. Now that last Batman movie was meh...at least the beginning was but it did get better. They could have cut off the whole first hour and it would have been better But I'm really liking Arrow alot and yes I think he does have a Batmanesque way to him. It's an anti-hero thing. I like it when they're not quite Lily White, and a little more in the grey area.

Letting the Gotham legal system deal with criminals hasn't done squat. Green Arrow, just from the pilot, doesn't seem to give a f*** Shooting people in the chest/stomach with arrows? He's not playing nice if you shoot at him with a gun. I'm wondering just how many millionaire/billionaires out there are playing 'Hero/Villain'. Batman (Wayne Enterprises), Green Arrow (Queen Industries), Iron Man (Stark Industries), Lex Luthor (Lex Corp), Norman Osborn (Green Goblin; Oscorp), etc.. Being a m/billionaire must be boring if you have to resort to saving/destroying/corrupting/completely controlling a world/city.

Yeah, Joss was doing a Wonder Woman movie at some point. But now there's the Avengers and I think he has a show green lit on ABC.
Arrow did strike me as very Batman Begins, but I'm not sure how else they could have done it. He was presumed dead, has to keep plans a secret and the best way is probably to pretend like he's still a party animal. But he did look uncomfortable at doing it, unlike BW.

Joss got pulled into the Marvel fold. Along with doing a S.H.I.E.L.D. show for ABC, he's going help plan some of the creative stuff for Marvel's next phases (movies, shows and how they all tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe).
And yeah, Oliver has to force himself to these parties and act 'normal'/like he's enjoying them. He spent 5 years on that island and people don't think he's got some problems integrating back in (we the user know he has other plans though)?

Just about to end but another good episode. I like how Oliver's relationship with his bodyguard (gonna start to cut him some slack so he doesn't get fired) and sister (her telling him she felt closer to him when she thought he was dead than compared to now) are turning out now and how he's started to try and get things back on track with Laurel. His mom and step-father want him to run the company but he can't do that and be Green Arrow. So he has to publicly put himself out of that position which I know sucks for him but it's the only way without dragging this out with the parents/family. I started cheering when Oliver & Laurel were in a tight spot with China White showing up in the apartment and then his bodyguard comes in whooping ass and holding his own against China. His bodyguard also notices what Oliver did with the 'kitchen' knife (not weighted and being able to throw it across the room as accurately as he did). I'm starting to think he wasn't alone on the island. Aside from the Deathstroke's mask in the pilot with the arrow through it (that should be enough to show he wasn't alone), where did he get the material to learn foreign languages? He was a party boy before the accident* so I doubt he learned it beforehand. He was speaking Chinese (?) to China White when he fought her and funny enough, as I'm typing this, he gets shot with an arrow in the flashback by someone else. So we know where he got the bow now and he was being trained by someone all that time. Wondering now if that person is still alive or if he died during Oliver's stay (or maybe Deathstroke killed him and Oliver survived?). So many [more] questions now about what happened on the island. *We find out the accident wasn't one. His mother and some 'group/organization' planned for the yacht to go down. Holy Hell. The mother willing to kill her son just to get rid of her husband? Collateral? And I guess now she's trying to keep him out of the bullseye of the group by seeing if the father told him anything before he died. And did Oliver stop wearing the eye paint now? I saw some people say it looked silly but I noticed after he had left the recorder arrow for the detective and got back to his place, he un-hooded and didn't have any paint. Kind of risky, no? Right amount of light hits his face (like a flashlight or a passing car) and he's screwed Deadshot next week Just decided to Wiki him and it seems he was originally a Batman villain but this is what brought him to Green Arrow's neck of the woods: In a second mini-series released in 2005, Deadshot discovers he has a daughter, Zoe, who is being raised in a crime-filled area of Star City. Lawton decides to do right by this daughter, and embarks on a lethal war on the local gangs that plague the area. The series ends with Deadshot faking his death, having realized a normal life isn't for him, but having mostly cleared up the area and having convinced Green Arrow to patrol it more regularly.

Another great episode. This is getting fun. Slash, he spoke Russian too, to the maid. My guess is whoever the other hooded guy is became his mentor and trained him during those 5 years he was stuck there.

Yeah, someone else mentioned he spoke another language in the pilot but I couldn't remember at what point he needed to do so. Thanks for pointing it out. The island is just as much interesting as the present day stuff I want to know who the first guy was and what his story was/is, who else was on the island besides them (it was quite big from the distance shot) and I'd imagine some locals knew about it if those fishermen found Oliver. But 5 years? Maybe he willingly stayed there till he felt he was ready and the next time a boat came in range, he signaled them for a pickup so he could head home and deal with the crime bosses?

Another good episode, though I missed some parts and I need to watch it again.
I really love his bodyguard. I want him to stick around and I have a feeling that he might learn Ollie's secret. I hope that Oliver won't be crossing off a name every week because that's kinda Revenge like (though Revenge moved away from that).
I'm very curious to see what happened on island and who the guy who shot him was. Doppel is right, he's probably the mentor. But then what whas the mentor doing on the island? And why was the notebook in his father's pocket blank?
As a side note, I guess we're supposed to ship Laruel/Oliver but I find her a bit meh.
Oh, and the voiceovers are a kinda bad.

You aren't supposed to ship someone on every show But Laurel, in the comics, as Black Canary, does end up marrying Oliver/Green Arrow. And honestly, what other woman is there for Oliver to hook up with on a serious basis? Laurel's sister is dead (who Oliver was cheating with on Laurel from the sound of things) but then again, we're only 2 episodes in.

But can't help it; I always look to see if there is a shippable couple. Right now, this show is trying to tell me that Laurel/Oliver are it. I am unimpressed.

I was thinking this show could have been paired with Nikita. There is alot of action and they would have complimented each other. I was itching for him to get closer to his sister rather then run to laurel. I like how he came out at his mother. I feel like he has a right to be upset. He just came back and they want him to run a company with his cast away mda! Pmao
