Why I Don't Hate Caroline

Okay so I'm here to defend my girl because although she is one of the most hated characters on TVD right now because OMG she doesn't like Delena lol I still like her.

The reason why is because although the show has been on for four years, the characters have only went through a year and a half. So Yes Damon has done a lot of great things for the group but he's also done some shady things that I won't get into because its not the focal part of my topic.

So Caroline is not entitled to like him. I love Damon. He is one of my favorite characters on the show and its a little hard to swallow when Caroline says all these negative things about him BUT we as the viewers are the ones who see all angles of Damon Salvatore

Caroline does not. She prefers Stefan for Elena and yes she is biased when it comes to it but some of us are also that way as fans s

I don't find Caroline hypocritical because Caroline has always been someone very blunt. Not afraid to speak her mind and tell it how it is in her eyes. She's opinionated YES VERY but she has a good heart and has been through a lot.

She has been there for her friends when she needs to be and she voices her thoughts if they like it or not. does everything she say is correct? No its not but its who she is. She has always been like that.

Damon WAS THE BAD GUY and the group has come together to work with him and he has made it very clear he is willing to give up anyone in a heartbeat to save Elena.

When Caroline turned he was ready to kill her because he assumed she wouldn't live up to being a vampire. Caroline and Damon have never really had a connection after she became a vampire besides just working together when it's a group thing. (Besides the time that both Damon and Stefan went to rescue her from the wolves)

Stefan on the other hand has helped caroline when she became a vampire, gave her a chance to live up to it, looked out for after she was tortured and has confided in her.

I see bashing that oh Caroline is a hypocrite because she's basically almost about to sleep with Klaus and has feelings for him and yadadada and WHAT SHOW HAS PEOPLE BEEN WATCHING. She might be intrigued by him but when she's not being used to distract klaus she doesn't give him the time of day. She has seen a different side to him that NO one else has seen but imagine in their girl night Caroline admits she has feelings for Klaus or she doesn't know how she feels.

Bonnie and Elena would both remind her of all the crap he's done or the type of person he is. They won't say oh yes Caroline go ahead and have a relationship with the psycho path, they will ask but what about Tyler etc etc

So I just think Caroline is being a friend. She's not putting herself in Elena's shoes because she probably can't comprehend how Elena could fall for Damon but Elena has spent the most time with Damon not everyone else.

SO yea those are my thoughts on it I probably have more but i have to leave work now lol

First off, I don't know the exact number of times Damon has saved Caroline, but it is at least one other time, when he saved her and Tyler from none other than Klaus who was going to use them in the sacrifice and got himself bit in the process.

I honestly don't hate Caroline but what a waste of a good character to use her to prop up Stefan. It was over the top ridiculous, in my opinion and made the character look bad. Damon is never right? Really? She obviously is not paying attention to anything going on around her. It just makes her look out of touch and meddling to be so adamant. I hope Elena puts her in her place, frankly.

As far as Caroline's relationship with Damon I was under the impression that it was OK and has been for a while, not this vile hatred suddenly spewing out of Caroline's mouth. If she felt that badly about him why in the world is she ever even around him? Plus it makes no sense in the context that she has been able to forgive other people, like Alaric who KILLED her father, but nope, not Damon. I guess it doesn't matter how many times he saves her butt and reunites her with her Mother, he will never be forgiven by her and to me that just makes her look spiteful and ungrateful.

As a character, I really enjoyed Caroline in season 2. In season 3 when she became Hulkoline I thought that was ridiculous as a newbie vamp and now the hatred thing with Damon puts her alot lower on my 'like' list. Right now, pretty far down, not quite as far down as Stefan but close.

Here we go. I knew someone would know the answer to this. From VD Wiki:

In The Return, after Caroline's accident turned out it was grave and there was a frighteningly real chance she could die. Damon suggested that he used his blood to ensure her recovery. (Damon saved her life.)

In Kill or Be Killed, at the Salvatore Boarding House, Caroline reach the door way of the
cellar the brothers are keeping Elizabeth in. She was just about to enter when she heard her mother say "Keep Caroline away from me please; I don't want to see her." Damon, knowing that Caroline was leaning against the door jam says "she's your daughter Liz." "Not any more" Elizabeth says disowning her daughter. "My daughter's gone" "You have no idea how wrong you are about that!" says Damon and he looks at hidden Caroline sympathetically. (Proof that they were at least reluctant friends and Damon cared about her)

In Rose, Caroline tells Damon about what happened with Tyler and Sarah. She explains that Matt thinks he blacked out. Damon asks her what she told Tyler about the supernatural events of Mystic Falls, and she replies: "Nothing really. I don't think he knows much of anything." She admits that she feels sorry for him. Damon tells her that they need to find out more from Tyler but bans Caroline from asking him. "He cannot know about us," he says. "Werewolves can kill vampires, so don't be his friend." (Proof they were at least reluctant friends if he was in her house having a talk with her.)

In Daddy Issues, Stefan goes with Tyler to the meeting place Jules told him to go to, but Damon interrupts. The werewolves begin fighting with the Salvatore Brothers. Damon also goes to save Caroline from the Wolf pack, this shows he is willing to die for Caroline. (Damon saves her life #2)

In The Last Day, Damon comes to save Caroline. He also proves this value of her life when he rescued her from Klaus, switching his plan of killing the werewolf to rescuing her so that the breaking of the curse wouldn't go ahead. He seemed furious with Katherine when she revealed to him that she had told Klaus about Caroline. (Damon saves her life #3)

After that she starts hating Damon again with no real explanation as to why anything changed...

Im not saying Damon has not Saved her life many times because that I know and like i said there was many things she said last episode that i was like why are they making her so hateful against Damon but like I said shes not entitled to like him. She knew that if the group could get rid of klaus they would without hesitation of what would happen to Tyler.

But the connection Caroline has with Stefan she doesnt have with Damon. Yes it was randomly extreme but shes a stelena shipper what can we do

I think that's what I have trouble with is that it was randomly extreme. I don't expect her to like him, but the level of hate she was putting out was way more than I would have expected from the past and what's happened since between them. Some people seem to be stuck in season 1 when it comes to Damon, only looking at how he was and what he did back then to justify her hatred but I think it's out of place now given what has transpired since. Heck even in season 1 all she did in response was push him and tell him he sucked. She didn't try to kill him or go on a hatred rampage toward him. Sure, she doesn't like him because of it, but they've managed to work together several times since and he helped repair her relationship with her mother as well as saved her life several times so she could cut him a break.

Thats y i would love for him and her to actually have a scene together where they actually talk. Its funny bc they dont even mention in the show Damon n Carolines relationship at all.

I know it is kind of odd isn't it? Like the time she took a jab at him about Rebekah being desperate since she slept with Damon. Hello? Especially with Elena now moving forward with a relationship with him. It would have made Caroline look alot better if she had expressed why she shouldn't have a relationship with him rather than, he makes me want to puke. Yeah, that's helpful Caroline. I think if she did express her fears, like he will use you, he doesn't really love you, etc. then Elena would be able to tell her how he's changed since back when she was with him. But who knows, maybe girls night will give her that chance.

My cousin watches the show casually and isn't as invested in pairings said that Caroline's character was annoying to him Thursday and my cousin is a boy so it wasn't one of those *snap* *snap* What you say about Damon moments

I already made a post of my thoughts on Caroline this ep so I'll be saying some of the same points.

Caroline's character herself doesn't bug me, her character is fun, she makes me laugh, and I like seeing her interact with everyone. I'm not a Klaroline fan but her scene with Klaus was cute. BUT that doesn't mean I have to like her attitude towards Damon or Delena, especially when some of it comes off way over the top.

'Damon and Elena together make me want to barf.' came off really ridiculous. Of course while watching it live I wasn't all 'Argh I want to strangle you Caroline!' I just laughed because it just seemed like such a childish and immature line for her to say.

And then my favorite, 'Damon is never right.'

If that was true then why in 4x05 was she in on Damon's plan over Stefan's. She obviously seemed to think he was right to immediately go after Connor than wait it out like Stefan wanted to.

I don't care if Caroline doesn't want to be BFF with Damon. She doesn't have to be. What I want is for her to be a friend and supportive of Elena. Why is she so quick to agree with Stefan that Elena needs to be 'fixed' or 'cured'.

If Caroline has solid reasons for hating DE other than, 'It makes her barf' then she should voice her concerns to Elena and Elena will tell her all of the things that Damon has done for her (her as in Elena not to be confused )

I can't wait for the sleepover because I think it's about time that Caroline and Bonnie were on the same page where Damon is concerned.

See thats another thing…The break up for the friends was probably so unexpected. For them Elena has only been a vampire for about a week or two and she's already making these extreme decisions so they prob feel its not normal of her. (in my own personal opinion)

Just two weeks ago she was telling stefan how she came back for him and yadadada and then she's like move on I'm not the same girl. So i don't think they have to support her decisions. They can respect them i guess but they def don't have to like them.

We all know how caroline is though she just speaks whats the first thought off the top of her head.

If i was elena i would be like Caroline why does me n damon want to make you barf?

You don't have to like anyone's decisions but YES you have to respect them. At the end of the day I thought this was Elena's life? I mean care was the one trying to get her to confront her feelings. She knew Elena hasn't really figured it out. I mean come on... she made out with him, died, became a vamp and chose Stefan like Damon never happened. Care knows better than that!

This is Elena's life not Caroline's. If Caroline came to her like a mature person and was like I'm concerned about you instead of huffing and puffing and being all I'm right your wrong maybe half the DE fandom wouldn't be pissed at her. I don't think Care has the right to be so hard on Damon and Doppel wrote down the reasons why already. The hate she has for him is over done. he has made amends for the crap he did to her in season 1.

I wont go into the whole is it **** or wasn't it **** bc that's a stupid argument that I hate and I wont go there but yes I think Damon has saved care enough for her to be like ok he's not an EVIL A-hole. He does have some redeeming qualities. Lets be real.

I just wish she would help Elena not bash her decisions. If you ships SE then fine. Ship SE. I hate that.. a character ships SE it's so lame. I just wish she'd SHIP ELENA!

Don't ship your friend with a another guy, ship your friend! Be there for her. Help her. Don't judge! With friends like Care who needs judging enemies?

Well I think that's been part of the problem, everyone always judging Elena which is why she has been so careful not to appear to be anything they wouldn't approve of. She has some pretty lame friends! Maybe that's the point of this so they will have a major blowout and Caroline will be more respectful of her decisions. Wishful thinking with Care, but you never know. Bonnie has been alot less judgy lately so I guess we'll see how this girls night will go and what will come out of it, hopefully a better, stronger, more respectful relationship with the girls.

I'm probably one of the few who actually liked Caroline in S1. And I loved her in S2. But S3, she started to annoy me (she can beat up a tomb of vamps 150+ years older than her. REALLY?). And as others have pointed out her attitude towards Damon was a little baffling in S3 since she seemed OKAY with Damon towards the end of S2. I

The problem is she's been way over the top. She says that Damon is never right yet she was 100% for his plan to save Jeremy a couple of episodes before. Damon and Elena make her barf? Elena has a diseased brain?

In the last episode, she actually said that "at least Ripper Stefan was not a 'man s***'. I'm sorry, but did she just say that sleeping around was WORSE that slaughtering innocent people? WHAT??

I don't mind that she hates Damon. I get it. But the way she stans Stefan is ridiculous. She ignores all his serial killing and how he treated Elena last season. She and Stefan are also okay with Elena being a human blood bag to Klaus.

The fact that she's doing this while making googly eyes at Klaus is even more ridiculous. You know, Klaus, who murdered her best friend's aunt and actually killed Elena.

Even without the Damon and Elena stuff she's been unlikeable. I don't even like Bonnie but Caroline was completely judgemental about Shane and out of line. Even how she was with Hayley when she first met her did not show her in a good light. She's been bad to Tyler because she doesn't seem to understand why he was upset about having one of his friends killed.

She's had a couple of moments where I liked her but for now, she's in my bad books.

Caroline talks out her ass. She doesn't know Jack about Ripper Stefan. Remember Stefan's journal where he says he was waking up in strange women's beds and Damon joked about him not being a virgin? Yep, Stefan has had his mans*** days. So mark that one off her list of why Ripper Stefan is better myths.

You know what I finally comprehend y Caroline is so eeek about Elena and Damon.

Lets really think about it. The time in TVD has been a year n change. The only relationship Caroline really saw Damon in was the one he was in with her. In that relationship he compelled her used her to get things done fed on her n basically verbally through her to the ground with his words n tried to kill her. They havent seen damon in a relationship besides andy n he was basically almost doing the same thing. Except the verbal abuse n killing aspect.

So if Caroline doesnt agree with Elena making a relationship i see why. I dont think it means that caroline hates Damon or shes seen him do good but maybe she doesnt see him as a relationship kind of guy so she doesnt want damon taking advantage of elena.

So i can stand by y shes so outspken about damon n y she talks out her behind about other stuff towards Damon
