Oh for some reason I was of the mind that the line was said during that scene or something lol. Whoa you're right about people completely ignoring this scene in favor of that line. Watching it again it was a sort of 'get out of our system' moment. Klaus said he'd never come to bother her again and made that promise to Caroline. All he wanted was to hear her state her feelings for him in exchange.
If anything Klaus has certainly made the promise to drop his pursuing of Caroline. But yeah if this isn't closure for this pairing, giving the fans some fanservice in the process, I don't know what is lol.
If Klaus/Caroline was actually handled in the slow burn focus that Cami/Klaus has gotten to this point then I'd certainly enjoy Klaroline more. But no Klaus healed Caroline with his blood and suddenly he was all gaga for her and drawing her horses to woo her and stuff. With Cami, Klaus approaches her completely different, their conversations are less superficial and doesn't have that air of popular high school cheerleader constantly brushing off an annoying jock or something lol. And likewise Cami doesn't do dumb stuff like show up at Klaus' house and complain about not having a dress or something haha. Things like that make Klaus/Cami more tolerable than Klaroline ever was.
