RACE FOR THE CURE — Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) take off in search of Katherine (also played by Nina Dobrev) and find themselves in a small town in Pennsylvania, where Elena has a surprising encounter with another old acquaintance — Elijah (guest star Daniel Gillies). Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) are both concerned about Elena’s state of mind and are determined to do what’s best for her, but she makes it clear that helping her will be difficult. Damon is not sure how to react when Stefan reveals his unexpected plan for the future. Meanwhile, in Mystic Falls, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) receives Caroline’s (Candice Accola) reluctant help and comes to a new understanding of Silas’ powers. Guess who we love? The Vampire Diaries writers! Jose Molina penned the script — along with Evan Bleiweiss — for Season 4, Episode 18, thentweeted it so we know the title: “American Gothic.” Spooky! Scary! Actually, it just evokes an image of a dentist. Or maybe it’s an homage to the 1995 TV show about a small town harboring an evil supernatural presence.
Either way, we can’t wait to find out more about the episode. Hmmm so Wetpaint say's the title is about a show that came out in 1995??? Could we get the 90's episode we all wanted to see how and why Damon and Stefan began to hate one another since the 40's???

I really loved American Gothic. Can't believe it was mid 90s but basically the story was about a boy who had been adopted by a family and his real father, a creepy sheriff wanted him back. The sheriff killed the boys sister as she was protecting him and she came back as an angel to continue to protect him. Anyone see any parallels?

Fans of Daniel Gillies' ever-honorable Original vamp Elijah were thrilled to learn that Gillies has signed on to be a series regular cast member on "The Originals," the potential "Vampire Diaries" spin-off series. The backdoor pilot for the new show will air on April 25, as an episode of "TVD." In addition to Gillies, fans can expect to see Joseph Morgan, Claire Holt, and Phoebe Tonkin in that episode.
But the news just keeps on getting better! Zap2it has confirmed that Gillies will be making his return to Mystic Falls even earlier than that, in Episode 418. We previously learned that Elijah was so ashamed of his warring siblings that he wanted nothing to do with them, but it looks like something will change his mind.

Yep!! I think it's Kat and Elijah! Wow they make out? holy crap!!! I don't know if I should be destroyed that it's not DE or incredibly excited and curious at a Kat/Elijah make out session!

T he realization that Silas is in Mystic Falls causes quite a stir. Caroline bonds with Klaus in the hope of convincing him to reconcile with the other Originals, whom it turns out is the key to stopping Silas. Elena returns from New York with a new emphasis on her and Damons relationship, which will be put under further strain when Silas reveals a dark secret to Bonnie. After an encounter with Katherine, Elena makes a surprising revelation about the truth behind her relationship with Caroline.

I wonder where that all comes from. It almost looks like an official synopsis sort of format. It's very interesting if it's true and I can imagine it might be true because they need to finish the Original arc to send them off to their own show now.

Would love to know what secret Silas told Bonnie and just how it would impact on Delena. What more could they possibly reveal about Elena's friendship with Caroline. From season 1 I got the feeling that Caroline never truely liked Elena just saw her as the competiton in regards to popularity and boys.

The way that sentence is worded it could be Caroline's relationhip with Katherine or Caroline's relationship with Elena or even Elena's relationship with Damon that she makes a revelation with Caroline about. So it's sort of iffy what it means even if it is real. I'm kind of thinking Caroline winds up teaming up with Katherine so they can get the Originals to kill off Silas or whatever their plan is to do with him so THAT would be Caroline's relationship with Katherine. Caroline could work the Klaus angle which it looks like she does and Katherine would certainly try to enlist her help because she'd have a shot at succeeding at it.

It just occured to me that if this is the episode that Elena returns from her trip to New York, that it means Rebekah didn't return back to Mystic Falls from the island but went chasing after Damon and Elena instead, so the others wouldn't know that she came across Proff Shane on the island after they left.
