Yup that's the way I look at it and while I was a huge Nian fan I am giving Nikki a chance. I don't know a lot about her but I'm learning. I doubt I'd ever ship a real life couple again like I did Nian but that was just a different situation to me and I couldn't help it! But I remember thinking when this ends it's going to be awful in this fandom and well...yup! I mean you hope it never ends but the odds are never with these celeb couples.

I've stayed out of the love life thread for ages as I honestly do not like Nikki and I think he will be dropped like a hot potato once she is not getting the publicity (therefore him signing up for season 7 is perfect for her). And oh I didn't like her long before this as I think she is one of those complete Hollywood fakes - never liked that she used aversives on her dogs or that she used fake service dog vests and yep people have called her out about this for a few years -way before Ian came on the scene.
I have thought that the Nikkian fans have been incredibly nasty about Nina and vice versa which leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth. Also I have found the over excessiveness of pap pics to be erring on the ridiculous - before Nikki Ian used to go to LA and not be papped constantly and could go under the radar a bit - now he goes outside and it's constantly papped. Whilst yes you do have to have some pap interaction to sell yourself this is taking it to extremes and I am really surprised that he has gone along with it and not requested more privacy. Whether it's her people or his reps contacting the paps I don't know but I would bet money that it is mainly hers and he is just going along with it. Only issue with it is its complete overkill.
(And before anyone says that they aren't contacting paps etc they are just stalking outside their house - sorry that's not the way it works. You just stand outside someone's house all day on the off chance that they are going to come out and you are not making any money and these guys are all freelance and the competition is high. Therefore they all basically have an inside tip from PR companies, managers and even the celeb themselves on occasion. I used to be a press photog and sometimes did some pap work and knew quite a lot of paps so know how the system works - and while celebs claim to hate paps, they completely need the publicity they give them)

Well I think it was more Nina who wanted everything to be private with Nian, quite possibly, but who knows. I do know TVD is coming to an end soon and they need to keep their faces out there and show that people are interested in seeing them so I can't really blame them if they are doing some of that on purpose. I mean that is what they do. They are celebrities and they want to stay in the public eye so they aren't forgotten. The public is fickle. While some of the attention has got to be really aggravating, any publicity is good publicity is sort of the way they think, especially when they are not A listers and they won't get to be A listers if people stop wanting to hear about them and stop seeing them in the mags. I think Ian should have gone to the PCAs however, as that would have been some good free publicity and networking opportunities. I really have a growing suspicion that he and Nikki are engaged now what with the divorce info coming out conveniently and her covering her left hand in some pics. I would bet that shortly we'll be finding that out, perhaps accidentally by design. I can't say I'm thrilled at the prospect. It is WAY too soon for that and he doesn't know her anywhere well enough for making what is supposed to be a lifetime commitment but it isn't my decision to make.

Well it is her modus operandi to get engaged pretty quickly and if it is true then it's her fourth engagement. I would also think they would be holding off announcing it until they get the best magazine deal if they have got engaged. I think he will start to regret this 12 months down the line (oh and I didn't know anything about her from the twi fandom as I haven't even seen the films, I mainly hear about her on animal and pets rights forums and from old press people where she is regarded as being fake) as she has more baggage than the cargo hold of a Boeing 747

That "hiding the hand" thing is so ridiculous and it is more of a draw to it than it is a coverup - in my opinion, doing things like that draws attention un purpose. If they really are engaged and she wanted to keep it under wraps, she would have the ring in her pocket when she was walking in the vicinity of cameras or wear it on a long necklace and hide it that way until they were ready to come out with it.

From everything I've read about her she seems very sweet and genuine so I don't know what is fake about her. I haven't found it. I have read some of the controversy about the collars and the service dog harness but I can't really say if that's warranted or not. I don't know her medical history so I can't assume anything. One thing I can be sure of is that Ian is pretty smart so if she's faking it, he will figure it out. He just might need some time to do that and if he gets engaged to her and married before he realizes it that would be a bad thing. His one fault (and I call it a fault) is that he thinks the best of people all the time and in my experiences in life there are manipulative, lying, phony sociopathic people that really do not have your best interests at heart and never will. You cannot take anyone at face value based upon what they present to you when they are trying to put their best foot forward. They need to prove themselves to be honest and decent over time and I think Ian does that in reverse and that can be to his detriment. |

I was going to say that I think it is in bad taste to get your divorced finalized on Tuesday and get engaged on Wednesday -- and then I realized a friend of mine did that exact same thing. (so I am going to try to be less judge-y.) But the hidden hand thing is weird. Either you should shout to the world that you are engaged or put the ring in a box until you are ready to tell people. Didn't Nikki watch Eclipse???

Well if there is a ring (and Ian WAS spotted shopping at a jewelry store recently, too) I would imagine she would only wear it when she doesn't think they will get papped and you can kind of tell that in those pictures they aren't dressed up nice or going out on the town. They're just doing normal daily routine stuff so maybe the ring is on while at other times it is off. As for holding off on telling, I think that could have to do with the divorce just being announced and it would look bad to immediately announce an engagement. |
