I just don't want you to get your hopes up or be embarrassed or disappointed when Bamon fizzles into nothing but annoyed banter at the start of the season. I think I read that Bamon will be the comic relief? That doesn't sound very romantic to me! Also I think Kat already pretty much told you all to not get too excited that anything was going to happen Bamon wise in the near future. There's no telling about the far future. We know Ian wants nothing to do with Nina anymore so who knows about that, but where we are now...nope! Yes this seems no different than the season 2 finale. We were all hyped up and expecting season 3 to be all about Delena and that it'd finally happen and everything. While it wasn't extremely bad as far as how Delena's relationship went, we certainly managed to hype ourselves up for something more than we actually got. Especially how we were all so convinced of that season 3 finale. I think we've all learned a lesson from that point onwards and how we view the show.
Kat Graham's tweet really puts things into perspective, in fact it seems that she came out to say this because she sees all the hype surrounding Bamon and people who truly believe that this will lead to some sort of romance.
On the other hand it doesn't matter how many jokes Ian, and Paul make about Bamon, it's what JP says. All of the spoilers she's brought out has indicated nothing but Damon and Elena longing for each other and wanting to get back, she doesn't talk about any struggle of feelings with Bamon or anything of the sort.
This 'singular goal' of Damon barely leaves any room for anything romantic between Bamon to happen. How can he both longing for Elena yet has somehow already moved on with Bonnie? Let's not forget that not only is Damon in love with Elena, Bonnie is also in love with Jeremy. I don't understand why some fans think these two relationships will just be dropped at the speed of sound like that.
As Doppel said, who really knows about the future storylines and what they'll do there. As of now, with the information we've gotten, it's time to just be realistic and look at things from face value and from what we've been told. There's no underlying secret that's being kept from us. It's best not to hype yourself up for something that has not been directly stated. This is something that Delena fans had to learn over the constant seasons of the 'lows' along with the 'highs'.
I think the realistic expectation for Bamon is to expect their typical 'banter' scenes with each other as the two of them do their usual butting heads as they try to find a way out from where ever they are.
Love all of this!! I just posted in AntiBamon because I was getting so fed up. But everything you said here is the gist of how I see things as well. Completely agree, 100%. In fact, I think it would make a more believable storyline to have Bonnie realize she's a lesbian and is in love with Elena herself! That is more realistic (and frankly more interesting, to be honest) than the idea that Bonnie would ever have feelings for Damon. Let alone the other way around.

Ok, you guys are probably going to think I'm weird, but the more I think about it the more I'm actually liking this idea of Bonnie falling in love with Elena lol ... It actually makes a lot of sense, in a lot of ways! Think about it, it would be a great way to explain her hostility towards Damon (jealousy!), and it would explain her lukewarm relationship with Jeremy (he was the closest she could get to being with Elena!) It would be a great character driven storyline for her, for once, and it would be an interesting explanation for her somber persona and tendency towards martyrdom. There could be this big revelation arc, like she didn't realize that that's what was going on, and then all of a sudden she finally realizes. And that could become a common ground for a Bamon friendship, eventually. Once they both come to terms with her feelings, they could both realize that they have something important in common, and that they can rely on each other to protect the person they love. Oh my gosh! I am seriously loving this! lol You guys probably think I'm nuts :-)

I certainly wouldn't mind reading a fanfic about it if you were to write something with this in mind haha

Haha Bean! You made sure to show that distinction didn't ya? (Wink) Not giving up on DE. When the show says they are done I'm done. Everyone knows how much I love Bon Bon but I just can't. I'm too Beremy. But a Bamon close friendship would be amazing!!!!! And of course SE is just not acceptable to me. I just won't watch an SE show so this hand holding better represent some awesome close friendships through this tough time or I'm OUT!

We've done some speculations on the poster back in the DE speculations thread and how the two clock towers (one light, one dark) represent the 'portals' to the two seperate realities. Bonnie clinging onto Damon's shirt while they're both on one side of the tower and Stefan trying to pull Elena away while she glances off in the direction of said tower. It's always fun to speculate where the season might go with these season promo posters. Of course sometimes the poster is just there to look cool and it tends to not really mean in the long run of the season lol Especially because it's really doubtful Elena is running back to Stefan and vice versa based on the spoilers we've gotten of DE and Stefan's storyline lol

This is interesting, from TVGuide:
Any Vampire Diaries scoop for me? — Brittany Sure! As our boy Matt becomes more involved in Mystic Falls, he'll realize that Colin Ferguson's Tripp has an important family connection to the town. Just wait until you hear Tripp's real name. Then it'll make more sense that he's keeping quiet about some extracurricular activities that could put Matt's closest friends in extreme peril.
Obviously he must be related to a family we know, or the name wouldn't mean anything! What do you guys think the name is? Fell? Salvatore? Forbes? I'm guessing not Lockwood since we've already done the long lost werewolf relative storyline. Plus I think the guy is supposed to be very human. Salvatore would sure be interesting! What do you guys think??

Hm what comes to mind taking in the important family connection to town and the keeping quiet about activities that could put Matt's closet friends in extreme danger is Fell. I feel this guy could be a descendent of Honoria Fell.
If we take a look at her Wiki in particular:
Honoria Fell was a human and also a founder of Mystic Falls. She was married to Thomas Fell, reverend of Fell's Church, and participated in the attempted eradication of the town's vampires. For this, she and her husband were killed by Stefan Salvatore.
Honoria Fell was a member of the Fell Family and member of the Town Council.
A majority of Matt's closet friends are all vampires i.e. Stefan, Elena, Matt, Alaric, and Damon (give or take Damon is back in the normal reality at the time).
Some more interesting tidbits:
Honoria Fell was a frequently a client of Pearl's Apothecary and it was Honoria Fell that brought vervain to the apothecary for Pearl to sell to the townspeople to protect them from vampires. Unknown to Honoria Fell, Pearl was, in secret, a vampire.
The Fells' used their church to entomb the town's vampires. Unknown to the Founders, the vampires survived, but remained imprisoned beneath the ruins. Later, believing that the vampires were gone forever, Honoria and her husband Thomas went to dinner at Johnathan Gilbert's, but Stefan Salvatore, son of Giuseppe Salvatore and newly created vampire, arrived and killed them.
It'd be really interesting if Tripp knew of Stefan killing his descendant and that he was still alive and whatnot and wanted some form of revenge. Of course Mystic Falls is supposed to be anti magic/no supe zone so I'm a bit confused on Tripp's whole 'activities' when no supernaturals can enter Mystic Falls.

Sort of a 'normal human' fanatic of sorts. If he was Matt's Dad then I could see why he would try to befriend him. Looking at the actor he could definitely pass for Matt's Dad.

That was another theory of mine. Then I was thinking would it be weird for him not to recognize his father? Though as you said we really haven't met Matt's dad and I don't remember if the show talked about him offhandedly like they did with Caroline's dad. But seeing as Matt's mother was single and a bit 'out there' in being a responsible parent, we can say that Matt's dad split from the mother when he and Vicki were young and it would explain the whole not really recognizing part.
Although I wonder why he feels the need to disguise his name.

I kind of think Matt did mention his father at some point in the first season, but I can't for the life of me remember what was said. I can't remember if he left them, or if he died, or if his mother didn't even know who the father was. It could be any of those things. So there is definitely a possibility that he could be Matt's father. But it would suck for Matt if he turned out to be a bad guy :-(
