I see people on twitter scrambling to try to be happy with the finale but it's just not working. Oh well. I've been unhappy with other TV show endings as well. At least Delena are end game. We have that.

I'd appreciate the graveyard DE parallel from season 1 and now if it wasn't tainted by Elena being made to say how she owes everything to Stefan. I don't see why Stefan is getting all the credit and gives me war flashbacks to season 5 where Elena was always made to praise Stefan. It wouldn't have been too hard to have Elena be grateful for Stefan's sacrifice in saving the town, but also talk about her current standing and future with Damon. Otherwise I feel awkward about bothering to watch that scene again. JP being hands on I think. It's better when she's not!

I'd almost rather have seen Elena wake up to find out Damon was going to sacrifice himself for the town again and they have a heartfelt moment about it and how he would see her again someday (and they would actually show them in the afterlife). Also, I found it funny that Bonnie "all of a sudden" was able to find a way to break the spell. Really? It would have been better if they had just said since her heart stopped, she technically died and that's what broke the spell.

Well everyone kind of got the shaft. I mean what happened to Caroline? She just went on with the creepy overaged Alaric by her side, yuck! And I don't even remember if Bonnie really got any closure. Overall the episode was a giant goose egg for everyone. HA! JP made sure to include Klaus in Caroline's closure scene so she could leave that door open if she needed it. And apparently Bonnie is going to live her life until she dies and reunites with Enzo - which we never got to see that either and everyone else died at the end. Well no, we saw DE's end where Damon just poofs off from holding Elena's hand and she goes off like it's great that she's alone now to greet her family while Damon greets Stefan with no explanation of why that happened. I mean it was all just poorly executed.

Yeah I hated the LOST ending too and I still don't get it and funny enough they won't explain it to this day like we're just supposed to 'draw our own conclusions' LOL OK, I conclude that you all suck at endings...how's that?

I'm disappointed in the lack of delena scenes with no speeches or any real emotion between them. I expected that from Ian and Nina. I also expected it with JP. So I did not set my expectations high at all but in fact I thought they may even kill Damon off in the end so I'm happy they didn't take that route. The two things that bothered me the most was first - after all the emphasis of Damon and Elena becoming human so they could have children only to have become human and never even give us a flash second of them with their kids upset me. But then they showed them in the afterlife and i think they wanted to emphasize their relationship... just the two of them and we just supposed to know that they did have kids as they planned. Elena did state that she and Damon lived a long and happy life together and did grow old together. I felt like Damon may have died first and was waiting for Elena, by the look she gave him after the crow in the cemetery appeared. I don't think they wanted to show their children because of what little time they had to even give Damon and Elena. The second thing was when Damon disappeared from Elena at the Gilbert house. As I thought about it, I felt he just wanted to give Elena some private time to reunite with her lost love ones, just as he needed that time alone with Stefan. I think that if any of us put ourselves in their position we'd want that time alone with our loved ones too. It in no way took away what Damon and Elena have. After all it's just a short absence from one another when they now have all of eternity together. so we need to be happy that not only were they endgame, but they are spending eternity together. They are twin souls after all. And Julie Plec did say something to the effect as "Who knows, maybe they'll all get together for a BBQ later."

We have that. Yeah the only thing that makes this not be as bad as it could have been is that DE were still endgame at least. I feel like if JP had not cut that single proposal scene, it may have helped turn the tides a bit, since Damon and Elena would be talking and interacting for one lol. But we know Damon would have everything all set up and perfect and it'd include an epic (I'm going to not like this word anymore lol) DE speech, as Somerhalder mentioned, we didn't even get. Heck, I didn't even realize DE were married, that's how confusing the DE scenes come off to me with no words to indicate what's even going on. But at least it's endgame, it's really the fandom and its creativity that helps keep the ship alive.

LOL Bamon fans wanting Bonnie to jump ship to TO and be with Klaus now. It was never about Damon but about Bonnie getting the lead of the show to bow at her feet. Just saying...it just made me laugh to read that tonight. The rats are looking for a life raft.

Which is odd because Stefan literally says that when they see the coffin open. Bonnie even sees Elena in that same outfit and dress. Yet someone it's Katherine and she managed to move Elena's body conveniently somewhere. How'd that even look exactly lol. There was really no reason for that to be Katherine, all the pieces pointed to that being Elena. Though I guess it's as mentioned, all for yet another throwback of having Katherine impersonate Elena. I feel like Ian could deal with Katherine and Damon scenes better since it's mainly banter and he was likely having a field day killing Nina over and over again lol.

Still keeping the interaction at a minimum, lol.

I think the most bothersome thing about JPs writing of DE is that it is never satisfying. It always kind of feels like some kind of grudging thing on her part, like she lost a bet or something and this finale is just more of the same.

I feel like there was nothing particularly bad about what they tried to do, but it was executed very poorly as there were no words and they were jumping around everywhere. I wish we could have seen some glimpses of DE living a fufulling life instead of being told about it. If they didn't want DE to talk, they could have least had a minute of montage, a proposal, Elena/Damon in their careers, at home and enjoying each other's companies, Elena could have even been given a baby bump if they didn't want to bother with kids, or show her under the sheets in a hospital. Instead we're left to just pretty much guess what's going on. The hand holding scene, I thought Damon died lol. When I was checking initial reactions before deciding to quit, I saw someone utterly confused, thinking Damon and Elena killed themselves in a suicide or something. There may be similar fans who didn't get what exactly was going on in that moment because Damon and Elena still look young, yet JP was trying to imply them finding peace at the same time, the transition was just a bit jarring and could have been done better.

Yeah now that I think about it I adjusted that it could have been part of a minute long montage at the least, different aspects in Delena's life before cutting to the walking down the side walk and transitioning to the finding peace concept.
