On that note, the question still stands on how Elena is going to get her memories back. They've kissed so many times now so my theory of a kiss trigger is out.
At this point I'm expecting her memories to come back in some big dramatic way, otherwise it'd just be a bit too anticlimactic. Whether Damon finds himself making a big sacrifice again to pull off whatever plan to keep everyone safe and Damon knows that Elena would try to stop him so he goes to a place that he knows she wouldn't be able to remember (fireworks kiss location etc.) and Elena tries to rush all over town to reach him but knows she won't make it in time unless she can trigger her memories.
But yeah however the writers plan on getting her memories back, I just hope it isn't some peaceful moment where she's all, 'I finally remember' cause that'd be boring and again anticlimactic lol. |

I'm with you - up until this point, we have all been wondering when this big moment will be because it was such a huge deal that she got rid of them. I sure did think it was going to be their first kiss because lets face it, that is what they led us to believe with all the near kisses and the talk of mistletoe. So yeah, I'll be disappointed if it all comes back to her in a dream and she wakes up next to Damon and tells him "I remember". Womp womp. Not to mention, we are on the edge of our seats wondering will she or won't she remember so, it better be epic if she does. |

But I'm sad we didn't get Dex unless it was just a make out scrne. I feel happy that she laid to rest the SE arguments too! I loved her speech. It was perfection.
So Steroline was adorable. Now they have almost kisses and its killing me. I've wanted that shop since season 1. It's season six! Make them kiss already!!!!
I hope that bon Bon gets home. Great brainstorming you guys on the headstone island thing!
Wondering if kai will have a heart now! I hope so because then maybe I could ship him and Bonnie. But he didn't look too interested in her when he did his ghost spell. Lol

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that with the merge he absorbed all of Luke's magic for good so he doesn't have to do that anymore. Although, they could still do the witch compulsion fix (if they wanted to mimic Divina) - he's got a lot of power now but maybe if he harnessed more power from a celestial event, he could be as powerful as Divina was. They likely wouldn't parallel TO that closely though, so I don't know. |

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, I must say. Kai struggling with his new conscience was some of the funniest stuff they have ever done on this show, as far as I'm concerned. I was dying laughing! When he was describing how his eyes were leaking fluid and he couldn't figure out what was going on? LOL And Elena and Damon's reaction's were fantastic. I love love LOVE how Damon manipulated him into helping by talking about poor little Bon Bon all alone on her birthday lol. The look on Kai's face while he was talking was just priceless!! And Elena snickering in the background made it all the more wonderful. And I also love that there's still a little psycho in Kai too, it makes him fascinating.
I also really like the Beremy stuff in this episode. Even though it was bittersweet, I was moved to see him finally fighting for her and being a better man. And in a way he also helped her pull it together and fight as well. And I loved how his determination allowed him to save her life, very romantic. And Bonnie ... I definitely teared up several times at her scenes in this episode. That was some great work by Kat, I must say. Very emotional.
As for Stefan and Caroline, at first I must say that I really wanted her to punch him square in his stupid face and tell him to leave her the f**k alone! He was being such a d**k, it was really too much there at first. But when it finally became clear that he was actually TRYING to make her angry, to help her get some frustration out, then it actually got sweet. There was some good acting by Paul there too, I thought. You could see the emotion in his eyes as she finally lost her cool with him. He hated hurting her, but he thought it was in her best interest so he kept at it. I liked how there were even a few tears in his eyes as he said those things to her. It was definitely a good moment between them, I thought.
Liv and Tyler. Well, honestly, I find myself respecting Tyler a little more again lol. I'm glad he kicked that whiny little brat of a useless piece of crap to the curb. I cannot quite express how much I cannot stand that girl. She is just an awful character. I want her gone.
Ok, saved the best for last. DELENA!!! Oh my gosh, so many wonderful things in this episode. Elena's positivity, Damon's honesty, their teamwork, their comradery! They were a real couple in this episode, like we've never gotten to see them before. And I just loved it. And Elena's speech was absolutely wonderful!! Even without her memories, she still knows he's the one. It's perfect. And, I have to say, I actually disagree with you guys about the sex scene. I do love their sexiness together, the hot sex scenes of the past have been very HOT indeed, and so much fun. But what we got in this episode was actually something we haven't had before with them in bed, and that is tenderness. It was sweet, it was romantic, it was love. I thought it was beautiful. I loved seeming them passionately kiss, and have him take her to the bed, and still be kissing and holding each other. And then showing them cuddling afterwards, I thought was so great. All the haters always saying that its just hormones between them can SUCK IT! lol. That was making love, not just sex. And I thought it was really wonderful. I loved it.
That's not to say that I wouldn't love to see some hot stuff later on lol. But I liked that their first time after her memories were gone (basically her first time with him, as far as she can remember) was sweet and romantic and loving. I really liked that. Anyways, that's just me.

Posing this question - What if Elena never got her memories back? Would you guys be OK with it? I was thinking about this too. Like, we all hoped/assumed that she would get them back. But what if that's not their plan? What if they are just gone and never coming back? It's possible. Personally, I really won't like it if that's what they decide to do with this. As much as I'm loving their rekindling of their romance, I want her to remember all those beautiful moments that made all of us fall in love with them as a couple! Damon may remember them, but he doesn't really know her side of those memories. He doesn't know that she was already in love with him long before she ended things with Stefan. He doesn't know how the things he did and said affected her. He only remembers what happened, not the thoughts and feelings that went with it. I will be extremely disappointed if she doesn't get her memories back. It feels like such a tragedy to lose all those beautiful moments, all the things we swooned over for all these years. To have them just be gone ... horrible. |

I'm thinking for right now this memory plot is just for us to experience the summer of their first time romance that we didn't get to experience. Someone on tumblr brought up something interesting. If this memory plot was meant to drag out for another season (or in a case of her memories never returning) the writers wouldn't have made DE kiss and have sex already that quickly.
DE is already back in their boyfriend/girlfriend mode and after the willing kiss and sex, it'd be odd for Elena to go back in a state where she thinks the two of them wouldn't work (from what she knows of her current memories) and it downplays her speech she made before the sex.
I think the 'obstacles' for this plot have been overcome and what Elena told her compelled self in the note in the first ep or so has come full circle, no matter what she always comes back to Damon.
I think once Bonnie finally returns, the plot will focus back on Elena's compelled memories. Having kissed and slept with Damon, choosing to be in a relationship with him, it'd seem odd for Elena to not want to have her memories back. We still have yet to know what the big dramatic showdown of the season has in store. I feel that Elena's memories will come back in a suspenseful/dramatic manner where her remembering is a case of life and death.

I feel her memories will come back too and I'm looking forward to that moment, but what I was asking is would you be ok if they never did come back. I have no reason to believe the writers would take it there, I just asked out of a curiosity question. If this were real life, and you were Damon or maybe just sticking to fans of the show, would you be ok if her memories didn't come back? Would you be ok with just watching them rebuild their relationship and continue to move on or would you absolutely need her memories to return by the series finale? I think I would want her memories to come back no matter what. It seems romantically tragic and bitter sweet. There was that movie with Channing Tatum (The Vow) where his wife lost her memories after a car accident. Spoiler Alert (in case you haven't seen it and want to watch)! {Spoiler}She never got her memories back. |

Oh in that case I would be upset with the writers if her memories never returned. As stated it would suck for Elena to not remember any of those beautiful DE moments over the seasons. Things that made her grow to care, respect, trust and love Damon. Some of those memories like the Miss Mystic Falls dance can't be experienced again.
It'll feel like a tragedy for Elena to only have the bad memories of Damon and none of the good even though right now she's back in a content spot with Damon.
Like with the sire bond I'm only okay with these plots if in the end it helps to make DE's relationship stronger and has a positive outcome. This will be my most hated DE storyline if in the end Elena never got her memories back. While it's Elena and Damon's memories together it's also our memories of this couple as a fandom over the seasons.
Without all her memories Elena's still not quite like herself, as she stated Damon knows everything about her but not the other way around. And at the same time there are things Damon doesn't know like the 3x01 moment when she knew she loved him in that moment, something she never told Damon.
So again it'd just be a sad tragedy to me. Of course I'd be more angry and ranty than anything though lol.
