Stefan and katherine all the way, the sexual chemistry between stef and caroline is the same as stef and rebecca when klaus gave stefans memories back, pretty much non existent.
But they definetly have a very loving relationship just not a sexual one.

Oh and this thread is more about them as a shipping couple just to clarify. hahaha no problem definetly didnt mean to step on any toes, but my opinion isnt neccesarily a con i think caroline and stefan have a really flirty and playful relationship and definetely one of my favourite characters on the series. but lets be honest stefan is practically turning the show into his own harem hes most likely (most likely) not impossible that he will ever go there with caroline. thats why i dont like the relationship because the writers wont make it happen. but if they let it happen on the other hand i would definetely be all over that s***. But as we all know the writers are just a big tease. |

If we have a free for all, people get upset and argue and the board becomes a huge fight and we already have twitter and tumblr for that!  We keep the peace by keeping certain types of arguments in certain places. You can still express whatever you want in the appropriate places just not everywhere and we have the debate area for any and all controversial topics you might want to discuss so anyone can open a thread there on any TVD topic. |

Well the writers have certainly surprised me with their writing of Steroline this season. When Caroline found out the truth about Stefan and got angry with him, I was excited for the shift in dynamic (Caroline has always excused Stefan's actions and been his number one cheerleader) and that Steroline would have that conflict to overcame. Yet at the same time, I was expecting the writers to sort of blow this over in an episode or two and have Caroline forgive Stefan easily.
That hasn't happened yet.
So in a sense Steroline is getting the 'Delena' treatment. As in the writers are taking this relationship seriously and not as a side ship that's 'just there' and gets those offscreen development moments (most of Bonnie's ships i.e. Beremy/Bamon/that one guy who her mother adopted? falls into this category unfortunately) or rushed benefits (goes through a small 'conflict/drama' and then is already rewarded with a kiss or something Alaric/Jo, Tyler/Liv, etc.) Whereas Delena has to go through hell and back to get those good/happy moments and now it seems like Steroline will be in the same boat.
It was a bit hard to ship Steroline in the romantic sense because, as I mentioned before, the writers just never took it seriously as such. They would get all these fluffy moments but nothing was happening. The writers had them in this comfortable friend position for several seasons. So for a time I just enjoyed Steroline but figured the writers would 'never go there' since Stefan was part of this ship and I always felt like the writers were too scared to have Stefan ever move on romantically from Elena as evident by how his other female interests i.e. Katherine and Rebekah were treated in comparison to his love for Elena.
As in I felt that the writers would never want to let the idea of the triangle go with Elena choosing Damon since 4x23 yet the writers kept being all ambiguous and over dramatic when it came to Stelena interacting together (For you Stefan and Elena fans out there, there will be a moment that'll make you swoon! or whatever) and bringing in annoying plot devices (Stefan being a doppelganger and the whole story of Silas/Amara, SE universe link via Marcus etc.) So for a while I was just all ugh why can't they just admit that the triangle is dead and have Stefan finally move on?
Anyways the writers finally having Caroline admit that she had feelings for Stefan was a big step for this ship since while it was a bit obvious Caroline felt more for Stefan, if the writers never addressed/acted on it, then it might as well have not been there. And the writers could have easily made Caroline not admit this to keep them in that comfort friendship only field that most fans see them as. Bonus points when the writers made Stefan aware of this fact so it wasn't about to be some one way streak with Caroline angsting by herself with an oblivious Stefan unaware of what's even happening.
This post is getting a bit longer than intended but it's good to see the writers expending the same care they put into Delena towards another ship. As in no shortcuts or fanservice that happens just because. I was a bit worried at first, I felt like with this new storyline with Liz's mom that this would make things easy for Caroline to suddenly jump into Stefan's arms and the two share a spontaneous kiss or something. But the recent interview with JP/Dries states how they want Steroline to be organic and realistic and that they don't want to shove to suddenly shove this relationship down anyone's throats and that before any romance is going to come into the equation, first thing they want to do is repair their broken friendship.
So again I love how the writers are being very careful with how things play out with Steroline. And of course if the writers are really going to go into this much effort with Steroline in repairing their friendship while slowly building up their romantic tension, there's no way this relationship should not be considered endgame at this point.
It's really too late in this show's lifespan to be creating drama around ships (at least where main characters are concerned) they have no intention of ending with. It's just a waste of time and effort that could have been spent elsewhere.

They are really taking this pairing slooow and steady aren't they? Well, I am still on the friendship boat with them, but maybe once they start getting romantic, that might change. I just wanted to say, what if Caroline pushes him away for a bit because she overheard what her mom said to him? Like because he will start wanting to move to the next level and she will think it is because Liz told him to be there for her. She may push him away because she thinks he's doing it out of pity or charity. Hmmm.

Especially since Stefan has just been interacting with her in a reasonably friendly fashion so if he's suddenly all flirty and googly eyed with her now, that'd seem a bit 'sudden' in Caroline's eyes from where they were before Liz's words to Stefan.
Knowing Stefan, I think it'll be a case of him trying too hard to live up to Liz's words to keep Caroline happy. Like it's his duty and he wants to make sure he isn't letting her mother down. Since he knows how Caroline feels about him, trying to manipulate those feelings by making it seem like he feels the same way all of a sudden would just be a bit too manipulative and I doubt that's how Stefan wants to come off to Caroline. Even more so since they just had it out with each other in the beginning of the season so doing something to break up the fragile friendship even more seems dumb lol.
And of course as most of the clichés in romances we know all too well goes lol. There will likely be a moment where Caroline thinks Stefan is just 'pretending' to love her and doesn't realize that he has developed feelings for her over time.

I'm happy to see some Stelenas are getting onboard the Steroline train. Maybe we can come to a happy place with Delenas/Stelenas after all. Stelena is pretty much dead and buried so why not? I'm still waiting and watching myself..on the fence as it were...about Steroline. It hasn't made me like or dislike the couple at this point in time. I think they are cute together...that's about all I feel about them right now but I think Stefan is helping her tremendously through this tough time and I have to give him some credit for that. She really needed someone and he is there. I also haven't seen him smile as much as he does when he is with her, so there's that!

Yes, I agree, Stefan does seem happier around Caroline. He smiles, makes jokes, laughs. In fact, she always seemed to put him in better spirits - even before. They are cute together and I don't mind them on my screen I am not hardcore shipping them, and I don't hate it. |
